It begins
With a pain in the gut
And spreads to my legs
Making them tingle
Making them weak
Then it spreads up my abdomen
Reaches my chest
Squeezes
Tighter, tighter, tighter
Until I can no longer breathe
It reaches up my throat
Strangling me
Refusing all air
Up my nose
Into my head
It pricks and it
Burns
Fills my brain with
Horrid thoughts
And then, as if it's had enough of torturing me
It ceases
It pulls away
Melting off of me
But as it melts
It pulls everything else with it
Every emotion
Every feeling
And it leaves an icy presence
In its place
And as the ice spreads through me
It numbs me
Until all of the pain is
Gone
Until I can stand without
Wavering
Until I can breathe without
Struggle
Until I can think without being
Effected by my thoughts
Until nothing even
