(Lyra's POV)
I woke up to knocking on my door this morning, my dad was yelling that he was leaving for a week. A week with no yelling, no beatings, no dad in the house to make me scared. So, walking down stairs was easy this morning almost light and stress free. That lasted all of five seconds until I saw that there was no food in the house and no money left for food either. Well at least I won't be around him this week, I may get hungry but at least no beatings will happen.
Looking at the clock I saw that it was time to head to school so grabbing my book bag I headed out the door. Five minutes later someone pulled up beside me, that someone being a lanky noodle like blonde omega with a lip piercing, aka Luke.
"Lyra!" Luke yelled as he rolled down the window. "Get in!"
"Somethings got you very hyper this morning." I laughed as I slid into the seat.
"Yeah," He smiled, "I got to talk to my family this morning."
"How did that go?" I asked. I knew about his family back home, and I also knew how much he missed them.
"It was great. Mom told me about the latest Jack and Ben fight, they ended up in a pool fully clothed." He chuckled.
"Why do they always fight?" I asked.
"Mom thinks it's an alpha thing." Luke rolled his eyes as he parked in the school's parking lot. "Says they are trying to test each other's dominance or some shit like that."
"I am so happy I'm not an alpha." I smirked.
"You and me both." Luke said as we walked in. "You seem to be happy this morning as well. What's up?"
"I found out that my dad is going away for the whole week." I smiled. "So, I get some alone time."
"When did he leave?" Luke questioned excitedly.
"This morning."
"Then you have got to stay over this week!" Luke demanded.
"I don't think everyone would like that." I mumbled. I wish I could stay the week but I almost positive that after the last weekend Ashton would want nothing to do with me.
"Of course, they will. Especially Ashton." Luke winked.
"Why are you winking you creep?" I giggled.
"Did you just fucking giggle?" Luke asked. "Oh my gosh that was adorable! And I winked because I know that there is something going on between you and Irwin."
"No there isn't." I blushed. "He doesn't like me."
"Yes he does!" Luke looked at me like I was insane, but I mean come one a guy like that liking a waste of space?
"You're not a waste of space." Luke brought me out of my thoughts.
"Did I say that out loud?" I asked quietly.
"Yes you did. Lyra you are not a waste of space." Luke said seriously. "And I have known Ashton almost my whole life and I have never seen him happier than when he is with you."
"You're exaggerating." I accused.
"No I'm not." Luke looked at me. "I walked in on you and him when you fell asleep the first time. He literally just sat there and watched over you, making sure you were safe and he looked so peaceful just sitting there. He kind of looked like a creeper but he was happy to see you resting and safe. When you walk into the room he lights up and his attention is drawn straight to you."
"I'm just a new person, soon that effect will wear off and he wont care if I show up again or not." I tell him.
"We'll see about that." Luke said skeptically. "But you are staying the week. And you cannot say no!"
"Why can't I say no?"
"Because I won't let you." Luke smiled.
"What ever you dork. I guess I can stay, but the second someone doesn't want me there I am out. Understand?"
"Yes, what ever, no one is going to want you gone!" Luke cheered.
"Alright, let's go to class you idiot." I laughed.
The day passed quickly and before I knew it I was walking with Luke to his car. I had agreed to let him drive me to my house to pick up clothes and things for the week. My only condition was that he was not allowed inside, because if my father came back and smelled someone else in the house then I was dead. So with record speed I pack a bag with clothes and necessary items before I raced back outside to Luke's car.
"Got everything?" He asked as I slid into the passenger seat.
"Yeah. Let's go." I smiled with excitement. "Did you tell them that I was coming over?"
"Nope!" Luke laughed. "I just told them that I had a surprise for them when I got home."
"Luke!" I yelled. "You can't just spring this on them. What if they don't want me there?"
"Lyra, shut up. Seriously, if I didn't think they would absolutely love this surprise then I would have told them, but I know that they will be over the freaking moon that you are spending the week with us. Will you just trust me this once?" He asked seriously.
"I guess I can do that." I agreed softly.
"Good, cause we're here." He smiled. Looking out of the window I could see someone standing at the front door, most likely Calum. "Come on, everyone's waiting."
Laughing I climbed out of the car. Walking with my bag over my shoulders was daunting because they had no idea I was coming over or that I was staying. Honestly, what if they didn't want me to stay? What if they got tired of me before the week was over? What if they hated me after this week?
"Lyra?" Calum called. "You okay? You were staring off into space."
"Yeah, I guess so." I smiled shyly.
"So what's going on?" Calum asked.
"Lyra's dad is out of town for the week so I invited her to stay over, that way she's not in the house all by herself." Luke answered happily.
"Well that's good!" Calum exclaimed. "We are going to have so much fun this week."
"Why are we having fun?" Michael asked from the doorway.
"Lyra, is staying the week." Calum smiled.
"Yes!" Michael yelled. "We get to actually spend time with you."
"Didn't know I was that fun to be around." I laughed.
"Well, you are." Luke smiled as he led the way inside. We stopped by the kitchen to find some food, because for some reason Luke was hungry...again.
"Where is Ashton?" Michael asked.
"You live with him, shouldn't you know?" I asked.
"Well I've been asleep most of the day...so no I shouldn't." He laughed as he stuffed chips into his mouth.
"He's getting groceries you dummy." Calum informed us.
"I'm back!" Ashton yelled at the same time.
"Never mind." Calum muttered.
"Come help me you lazy asses." Ashton yelled from the front door. I got up and followed Luke outside. But before I could help someone was picking me up.
"I thought I smelled you." Ashton smiled from bellow me. Ashton had picked me up so that his arms were wrapped around my thighs, just under my but, and that I was facing him. Afraid of falling I put my arms on his shoulders and allowed my long dark curls to hang around my face. "And to what do I owe this pleasure?"
"Luke invited me to stay the week since my dad is out of town." I whispered. I wish this moment would never end, the feeling of security and happiness was intoxicating and I found myself forgetting all the troubles in life.
"I am very happy he did." Ashton smiled. His smile brought the hazel color of his eyes to life, brightening them. "So, what are the plans for your sleeping arrangements?"
"No idea. We hadn't gotten that far." Calum broke through our little bubble. "We already got the groceries in, love birds. Would you like to join us inside or continue your public displays of affection here outside?"
"Let's go inside." Ashton said softly. I agreed and bent my arms so he could lower me to the ground, but instead of letting me walk inside like a normally person he wrapped my legs around him and carried me in while I clung to him like a baby koala, and it's nobody's business if I berried my nose into his neck to breath in Ashton's unique scent.
