Emily's pov
"Who are you supposed to be ?"
"I have no clue. I wanted to go as the power puff girls but you know Spence, she's all about historical figures. I didn't even bother asking who we are supposed to be" Toby laughs
"And you are...a brown haired Ariel?" He questions, raising his voice
"I'm Emily the Mermaid" I laugh
"Nice" he smiles as he fixes his monocle
"Where are the seven dwarfs?" Toby asks Aria
"I'm actually Snow White and the two dwarfs" she rolls her eyes at the absence of 5 dwarfs
"And you must be Prince Charming" I snigger, placing my hand on Ezra's shoulder
"Yes I am, and I didn't even have to dress up" he says, flicking his cape behind his back
"Here come the Simpsons" Ali points, sniggering
"Looks like none of us would win a costume contest" Ezra laughs
"How? We are brilliant Simpsons" Hanna defensively says
"Well your baby has had a sex change"
"Excuse me but why does that matter? Maggie can be whatever he wants to be" Caleb says
"Okay then" Ezra awkwardly replies
"Toby doesn't even know who he is. Emily and Alison are okay I guess, but they are kinda made up characters and us...we are missing five dwarfs" he continues
"Alright party pooper, god Ezra have a relax little" Ali laughs
"Sorry your majesty" Ezra says bowing
"What dwarf are you?" Hanna asks Leo, picking him up
"Don't you know Aunt Hanna? I'm Hungry" he sarcastically replies
"I didn't know there was a dwarf Hungry"
Alison and Leo burst out laughing and every time one of them stops laughing the other starts again and it becomes a viscous circle until Ezra calls for Leo
"Come on Dopey son, it's time for a photo"
Each family gets an individual photo and then we set up the tripod and take a group photo of us all. Our parents arrive and we get another group photo
Ali's pov
Spencer and Toby threw a small Halloween party this year and invited us and our parents. The kids play party games like Musical Chairs and Pass the Parcel and we sip as much wine as we can without getting drunk
"Time for Apple bobbing" Toby chants, placing a bucket of freezing water onto the floor
"Who's first?" Em asks
"Do we get a shot?" Veronica asks, jumping off the sofa
"I'm going first" Ashley shouts, kneeling down at the bucket
She throws her head into the cold water and emerges out of if with a red apple between her teeth, she flings her arms up with joy and the children push each other; excited to get a shot.
"Mommies look" Lily shouts, dunking her head in and biting into an apple
"Gracie, you try" I tell her
Grace slowly pushes her head into the water and almost drowns herself trying to get an apple. After 5 attempts Grace begins to cry
"I can't do it Mom" she cries
"Grace it's okay we can share" Lily smiles, holding her apple out to Grace
"Thank you" she sniffles, biting into the apple
Lily hugs Grace to try comfort her. They sit on the sofa sharing the apple and candy
"Girls don't eat too much candy, we haven't even gone out trick or treating. You can finish the sweetie you are eating just now and then no more until me or Mommy say you can have some" Emily tells them
"You're so sexy when you act like a responsible adult" I whisper into her ear, causing the hair on the back of her neck to stand up
"Me and Emily..."
"Emily and I" Veronica and Spencer simultaneously correct me
"Emily and I, are going trick or treating for one hour. If you would like to join us line up at the front door"
"And you need to be older than three" Aria adds, grabbing Zoë back
"Okay so us and then four little ones"
"Little? We are the big kids" Carson argues
"Yes you are, now come on"
Emily's pov
Me, Alison, Grace, Lily, Carson and Leo go trick or treating around the streets of Rosewood. The Rosewood residents are very stingy with the candy they give out but to be fair they are giving out more candy than us. We are too busy, taking candy from other people for our kids, to give candy away to snotty children we don't know.
"Trick or Treat"
"Happy Halloween" a grumpy old man says, throwing chocolate at the kids before slamming his door shut
"Okay, let's just go to the next house"
Carson knocks on the door and we see a shadow through the foggy glass. We hear a tap and the door is opened by a familiar face
"Alison DiLaurentis you think after all these years you would change your perfume"
"Lily tell the lady your joke so we can head home" Alison says, ignoring her
"I threw a boomerang at a ghost the other day...I knew it would come back to haunt me" Lily smiles, timing the punchline perfectly
Jenna laughs at Lily's joke and hands her a whole bag of Haribos
"Anyone else got a joke?" Jenna asks, twitching her nose
"There should be three more jokes" she smiles
Jenna is wearing her own clothes but out of all of us she has the best costume on. Her hideous personality is hidden by a mask of smiles and laughs
"You all had the best jokes of the night. Have a great time and don't eat all that candy at the same time" she cheerfully says
Jenna grabs Ali's arm as we walk away, forcing Alison to engage her presence
"You better tell that cousin of yours that I want to see my brother and my niece" she snaps, piercing Ali's skin with her nails
"Why don't you tell her yourself? Besides you wouldn't be able to see them anyway, cause you know..." Alison bluntly replies nodding her head at Jenna's eyes, she pulls her arm out of Jenna's grip
"And who's fault is that. Do your daughters know why I'm blind?" She threatens
"You wouldn't dare bitch" Ali growls, giving Jenna a cold stare
I wriggle down the street in my Mermaid tail, my hand interlocked with the Queen's. I find it difficult to walk in the skintight tail, while Ali races down the streets in her puffy princess dress
Ali's pov
"I'm so glad we could dress up as the characters in this book" Grace yawns, holding up 'The Mermaid and The Queen'
"Can you read us a bit. Together?" Lily murmurs
"Of course. What part?" Emily asks,
hugging into my side
"You're first kiss"
Emily reads the Mermaid's parts and I likewise read the Queen's
"I can feel myself slowly leaning towards her and within a breath our lips are touching, slotting into place like a jigsaw. The Queen pulls away and smiles at me tucking her beautiful blonde hair behind her ears." As Emily reads, she reads in 1st person rather than 3rd
"'Goodbye Mermaid' I say as I walk out the library" I read, smiling at Emily
"'Goodbye'"
Lily and Grace fall asleep and we sneak out their room
"I love that we can read them the story together now"
"Me too Em" I whisper, leaning towards her
Our lips collide and our tongues burst through the gaps in our lips, wrapping around each other and fighting for control over the kiss. Emily pushes firmly against my lips and I tip backwards, she lies over me and our kiss continues. I wrap my arms around her and pull her closer into my chest, our kiss continues and I don't actually realise it's over until I wake up. Emily is asleep hugging me, I drift back off to sleep after kissing her softly on the forehead.
