When I got close enough he grabbed my hand and pulled me against him. I could feel his member pressing up against my private. I didn't have to look down or touch him with my hands, I could tell that he was big. Crap, it's going to hurt, despite my werewolf healing.

He pressed a soft kiss, surprisingly, against my lips. Then he pulled away, and with a wiggle of his eyebrows, turned around and jumped off the freaking porch. It's official, I'm mated to a lunatic. I ran to the railing and leaned over. I saw his dark brown wolf staring up at me waiting for me to come down. With a deep breath, I got up on the railing, and closed my eyes, and jumped.

I shifted mid-jump and landed on all fours next to Cole. Pain struck up my legs, but it disappeared quickly. Cole's wolf was definitely larger than mine, as expected. He pressed his snout again my ear, and licked me teasingly, before taking off in a full-on sprint. I pursued him, easily keeping up. I was trained with him, mind you, he wouldn't shake me off that easily.

We passed the training grounds, and several people looked up towards us and whooped. I nudged my snout into his shoulder, and then shoved past him, pressing myself harder. He growled lightly and jumped over a rock, once more taking the lead. I growled in return and chased him through the brush for a while.

I leaped on his back, tackling him to the ground. We tumbled, rolling over each other. I landed on top, and carefully pushed him down. I gave him a wolfy smile, before taking off on a run. He howled quietly after me, and I ran as fast as I could. I could hear his paw steps ringing loudly on the ground behind me. The leaves rustled and branches snapped.

He nipped at my tail, and pulled up beside me, and then ahead. He stopped right in front of me, and I ran into him. We fell down again, in a heap of fur and gasping breaths. The night air was cold and calm. It circled around us, a breath of heaven.

I rolled on top of him, staring down at his wolf. His eyes were hazel and blue, this wolf in charge. I took a deep breath, and stepped into the back of my mind, letting my wolf step forward. She met his wolf with excitement, yipping and nuzzling him with her muzzle.

They licked at each other as they greeted one another. They sniffed at each other and rubbed against one another. My wolf howled to the sky, and he joined her. Their songs were called out to the Moon Goddess far above. When my wolf finished, she pushed into a slow run.

The two ran side by side, they splashed through a stream, and over a hill, rolling down the other side. I watched quietly, she was happy, so happy. The two chased each other around, nipping at each other's tails and barking empty threats. They took off once more at a full sprint, pushing each other faster. When my wolf was in charge, we were even faster. Cole's wolf struggled to keep up as she burst around, full of childish energy.

They stopped in a clearing, looking up at the full moon. They howled again, tipping their heads up, two beautiful silhouettes in the moon's light. Stars speckled the sky, light dots on a dark blanket. Our two wolves fell down and lay next to each other for a long time.

My wolf backed away again, putting me in charge. I saw Cole's eyes change back to an icy blue. I stared at him for a while and cuddled into his side. He huffed and rested his head on mine. This was what paradise was. Happiness and love surrounding the whole area.

I'm sorry for not believing you, he mind-linked, I guess I was trying to purposely shove you away so I wouldn't get hurt nor would you. He looked at me and then suddenly shifted into human form. His arms wrapped around my wolf, and I gazed back at him. I willed myself to shift and listened to the cracking noise as my bones shrunk and snapped into place. I lay there, my naked body pressed against his.

He kissed my forehead and pulled me closer to him. I sighed, and closed my eyes, burying my face into his chest. His hand ran through my hair, his calmness flowing into my bones and surrounding me.

"I forgive you," I whispered, and reached my head up, kissing his jaw. He shuddered and looked down at me. He didn't speak, but he didn't need to. We were everything together, we were fine. He kissed me again, pouring out all his sorrow and heart into it. He shifted on top of me, and I knew he wouldn't back away this time.

My hands knotted in his hair, and I kissed him back happily. He kissed my nose, and then my cheek, down to my jaw and down my neck. He sucked on my mark, and I gasped, my back arching beneath him.

"Is it too soon," he whispered against my skin, "to say I love you?'

I froze beneath him and looked up at his eyes. There was no lie, nothing. Did he? Sometimes you have to lose somebody to realize how much you love them. I blushed and ran a hand through his hair.

I smiled, "and you said this wasn't for love. But maybe I love you back."

He grinned down at me, and sat up, straddling my hips. He leaned down and kissed me, with much more passion this time. He nipped at my bottom lip, and our tongues fought for dominance as I gave him entrance. Fire danced between our bodies, and I moaned as his hands gripped my waist and pulled me up.

A smirk danced his way onto his lips. He sat up and pulled away, his smirk hiding mischief. I frowned, pushing myself up on my elbows. He backed up, and then shifted into his wolf, and ran into the woods. I stared in disbelief. If it's a chase he wants, a chase he'll get, I thought and shifted.

I ran after him, following his scent. I frowned when I came up to the river and his scent disappeared. I turned in a circle, studying my dark surroundings. Where could he have gone? I wondered and then let out a yelp as he jumped on top of me. I fell down and he rolled me over, licking my fur.

I growled and shoved him off of me, I ran in a circle around him. I stopped in front of him and nipped at his nose. He flinched back in surprise, and then licked my ear again. When I tried to pull away, he snipped my ear in between his teeth. I stilled, and let him lick my face and neck. He's such a wolf, I thought with a snort. I flicked my tail and laid down again. He curled up around me, and the two of us fell asleep.

When I woke up, the full moon was almost at the top of the sky. I stared up at it, feeling like I was forgetting something important. Cole was still asleep, his brown wolf snorting in his sleep. I licked him and stood up stretching my back. I had never been in wolf form for this long before. I shifted, my bones cracking. The shift took extra long since I had been in this form for a while.

I crouched in my human form and rubbed my eyes. I rubbed his head softly and sighed. I was still tired and honestly wanted to go back to bed, but I don't think I could lie out in the cold any longer. He breathed in deeply, getting a leaf stuck to his nose, and then snorted shaking his head. He woke up and looked at me. He shifted, shrinking in human form.

He sat up beside me and held my hand. I stared at our intertwined hands for a while. When I looked at Cole he was staring up at the stars like a small child. Fascinated. He smiled and turned to me. Then pointed up at a collection of stars.

"Right there is Council of Angels," he said softly, "watching us. There's Dorian, the first werewolf, and Nala, the first hunter."

His hands darted to several collections of stars. I struggled to see the forms but was slowly able to pick up wolf's face in the sky, and the bow pointed right at the wolf.

"How do you know all this?" I asked, staring up at the sky.

"When I was young, one night, my father woke me up and took me outside. He pointed to the stars, and told me all their names, and said: 'someday, son, you'll be the great Alpha and all the stars will grant you with their powers. And when you die, you'll join me and every other Alpha up in that cluster closest to the Moon.'" Cole laughed, "I was so fascinated at the thought of being up there one day."

I blinked at him, "do you miss him?"

"Yes, a lot. I hate that I had to kill him to become Alpha..." he sucked in a breath, "but I knew that if I ever wanted to join my father in the stars, I had to become Alpha first. You'll join me up there too, you know."

I smiled and held his hand tighter.

"I'd love that," I said.

We sat in a happy silence for a long time. I closed my eyes, and then looked at the moon, it was in the middle of the sky. I gasped when pain stabbed my stomach, and heat spread like a fiery flower from the point. I forgot about my heat, I realized.

Howls were heard coming from the pack house as the unmated males smelled the scent of all the females. Cole glanced at me, fighting back his lust.

"We have to go," he whispered, and scooped me into his arms, running towards the pack house. Cole arrived at the house, and the pain was small since he held me, but it was still there. I should've paid attention, I thought groggily.

"John!" Cole shouted to the ex-Beta, "can you handle this for a few more minutes?"

I didn't hear his reply, but Cole must've been satisfied because he ran upstairs with me. Were we going to mate? We almost mated earlier, I guess it wouldn't hurt. He set me down on the bed and kissed my forehead.

"I have to go, I'll be back," he whispered. I whimpered and shook my head.

I grabbed his face in between my hands, "please, don't."

He pressed a heat-stopping kiss to my lips, and then pulled away. He closed the door, and locked it, leaving me alone with my own heat. Images of me and Cole in a pile of sweating limbs, kissing each other frantically swung through my head. I whimpered as the pain intensified. When you're marked, you're heating is ten times worse. If you're mated to an Alpha, it's even worse. A Luna's heat lasted a week, even if you mated during the time. If you mated it would lessen the pain, but it wouldn't go away. My heats would continue, unless I'm pregnant until I die, or if Cole dies.

I screamed as the pain got even worse, and the feel of sexual tension made me wet. This was going to be hell.
