Author's Note
Hello, lovely readers!
Here's chapter one of the edited and better version of "Sweet Mistake" which I have started working on. Let me know what you think of it? 😌

*.*.*.*

Narrator:
Armand gazed at the imposing men restraining him against the wall, consumed by fear like never before. This was a familiar feeling, especially when he had failed to fulfill a task for the formidable boss. What had he expected? That he could siphon money from the Chicago cartel into his account without consequences? Foolish and cowardly, that's what he was. And now, he was about to face the repercussions.

Amidst the booming music and revelry emanating from the hall, Armand's pleas for mercy were drowned out as the men began to pummel him. His cries went unheard, especially from his position behind the main house. It seemed certain that he would meet his end that very night.

Emerging from the front of the house, the charismatic Leandro Enrique issued a commanding order, "Enough now." The men released the battered and bloodied Armand, letting him collapse onto the floor.

"Well, well, Armand my man. You had the audacity to show up at Antonio's wedding, huh? Fully aware that you had embezzled a substantial sum from me. Or did you believe I wouldn't find out?" Leandro's smile widened, signaling impending danger.

It meant only one thing, and Armand understood it well. Leandro's smiles were venomous.

"I-I'm sorry, boss. I'm sorry..." Armand pleaded, attempting to reach out to Leandro.

"Don't stain my pants with your filthy blood, you imbecile! Are you out of your mind?" Leandro stepped back, repulsed.

"I'll repay you! I swear!"

"I'll repay you, I swear..." Leandro mimicked, emitting a wicked laugh that sent shivers down the spine. He was a hidden psychopath, someone who valued human life little. His only vulnerability lay in his small family. Everything else was meaningless to him.

"Just how dimwitted are you?"

"I'll do anything! Please, spare me! I'll never repeat this mistake! Please!"

Leandro smirked, thoroughly amused.

"He wants me to spare his sorry ass," he pondered aloud, glancing at his men. Their laughter ensued, not because it was amusing, but because Leandro expected them to laugh. Fear resonated from everyone. He feared no one.

"Now, let's discuss the plan," he continued, crouching beside Armand. Placing his hand on the traumatized man's shoulder, he froze him in place. "Relax, caro amico. Are you scared?" he chuckled.

"Y-yes, sir..."

"Well, you have every reason to be. As I was saying," he proceeded, "I'll let my men take care of you. Then, I'll dispose of your body so I can enjoy my brother's wedding in peace. Because if I were to handle you personally, it would be far worse. What do you say?" he whispered, caressing the man's face.

"Please, please, please!"

"Ugh! Just shut up already!" Leandro groaned, running his fingers impatiently through his hair. "Tell the devil I said hi. No, that's pointless. I am the devil," Leandro laughed, standing up. He then turned to his men and said, "Handle it discreetly. I trust you. Now, if you'll excuse me, I need to find a girl to sleep with and drown myself in alcohol." He excused himself, leaving poor Armand in the hands of his henchmen.

Leandro, a young and incredibly attractive man, appeared to be a shameless flirt, a bad boy, and an enigmatic figure to those who didn't know him well. However, to those who worked with him or for him, he was a monster hiding behind a deceptive smile

Both Leandro and Antonio, had reputations that struck fear into the hearts of many. They were notorious criminals until Antonio decided to change his path, not entirely innocent but certainly better than Leandro. In terms of humanity, that is.

As the leader of the Italian Mafia, Leandro wielded immense power, making him even more ruthless than ever before. Behind his attractive facade, there lurked madness. Beneath his impeccably chiseled chest, there lay a heart of stone. And Leandro believed nothing could alter that

~

Leandro:
I couldn't help but smile upon hearing Armand's cries as I walked away. What did he expect? It wasn't the first time he had attempted to deceive me. I had been patiently waiting for the perfect moment to teach him a lesson.

While walking, I noticed Donnica's friend, Kloe, emerging from the corner of the hall's building. She hesitated upon spotting me, torn between returning or continuing onward. I smirked and approached her.

"Leaving the party so soon?" I inquired. She gave me a cold stare, clearly terrified, though she tried to conceal it. "You're not giving me an answer."

Kloe stepped back, surveying her surroundings.

"I don't know anyone in there, and I'm scared to death whenever someone tries to talk to me, so..." she walked past me, "...adios."

"Wait." I stopped her.

I heard her sigh and turn to me with an irritated expression. She amused me greatly. Despite her fear, she wasn't afraid to speak her mind or show her dislike for my presence.

"What?" she retorted, folding her arms.

"You might want to hold off on going back there."

"Why?"

"Let's just say I have some business to take care of behind there."

Her eyes widened.

"Are you kidding me?" she exclaimed.

"Don't abandon ship just yet. I'll keep you company until the party's over. How about I get you a drink?"

She looked at me, clearly hesitant.

"Don't you want to be my friend?" I mused.

"Save it and miss me with that shit," she replied firmly, and I chuckled.

"It's your friend's wedding. Come, have a drink," I said in a softer, more persuasive tone. It was the kind I used on every woman I tried to manipulate into doing something for or with me.

She stared at me for a while.

I extended my hand.

"Come on. I won't bite."

Unless she asked me to.

After a moment, she rolled her eyes and walked past me again.

"Where are you going?"

"Didn't you offer me a drink? I've got nothing better to do."

"Okay, then." I smiled, but she ignored me and continued walking ahead.

Usually, I would teach such sassy girls a lesson they'd never forget. Those who were full of sarcasm and believed they were untouchable. Silencing them was my preference. However, this particular beauty was Donnica's friend. I had learned to respect Donnica, and therefore, I had to extend that respect to her friend. If it were solely up to me, I wouldn't give a damn whether she was engaged, married, or whatever.

Quietly, I followed her back to the hall.
