Can I Have This Dance?
Chapter 14
I unconsciously fell asleep which wasn't surprising since I always seemed sleep with Alex. I mean I seem to always fall asleep with him there or on him.
"Nicki, wake up," I heard him whisper in my ear
"Umm?" I asked with my eyes still closed making him chuckle causing me to shake with him slightly
"Wake up, your mum's parking outside. I'm sure that you don't want her to see your cheek" he said seriously
"Oh crap," I said instantly awake getting up in about one second. Due to my super fast actions I got dizzy almost falling over when Alex caught me saying,
"Wow, hold up there."
"I'm ok," I replied not too long after. I ran upstairs and washed my face to wake me up a bit, before I put make up on the bruise which was showing a bit more clearly.
When I had finished I ran down the stairs and saw her inside talking to Alex, which stopped once she saw me.
"Oh here she is," she said before looking at me weirdly
"Your hair looks a mess what were you doing?" she asked looking at me, then Alex
"Oh my gosh mum, that was NOT what was happening!" I said astonished that she would think such a thing
"It's just that when I came in he looked startled and straightened out his clothes, and then you came down......... and well your hair!" she tried explained
"No" I said plainly
"Whatever," she said before taking the few bags she had to the kitchen.
"I guess I'm gonna go now," he said smirking
"You could have at least defended that nothing happened," I whispered to him so that she wouldn't hear
"I don't choose to argue with parents that aren't mine," he said still stupidly smirking
"Ugh! Just shut up and go now!" I joked pushing him softly
"Hey! Not without my hug," he said holding out his arms. I sighed still smiling before hugging him.
"We'll find him okay," he stated making me shiver when I realised who he was talking about
"Don't worry," he said hugging me tighter. When I moved back from his embrace I smiled weakly at him.
"Oh yeah and tomorrow, 2 o'clock!" he reminded me. I just nodded, seeing him look beside me smirking at me before leaving. I was confused until I saw my mum smiling at me.
"Oh no, what did you see?" I asked now frustrated
"Enough to know that there's DEFINATLY something going on," she said smiling before walking slowly towards the kitchen.
"I really need to update you," I shouted following her into the kitchen.
"Finally, I thought that you were never gonna update me!" she exclaimed making us both laugh.
"But there's a lot to tell so I'm just gonna tell you while I help you cook," I informed her.
I told her everything, starting from why I was suspended, Alex cheering me up, Emily coming into school, what we spoke about when he had to drop me home, being asked to prom, the match (Alex's stupid ways), today (we were just hanging out) and tomorrow which is why I needed her credit card.
I didn't tell her about the tingling because I didn't think that it was important. By the time we had finished Clair and my step-dad were home, but I guess Aaron was eating out. I set the table laying out the food before we put food on our plates and ate.
"Clair it's your turn to clean up," my mum pronounced
"No! Mum its Nicki's," she tried to say politely, even though it came out rude.
"Not anymore, she helped your mum make dinner," my step-dad said smiling at me as I returned the smile.
"Ugh!" she said under her breath as I just put all of the dishes in the sink, less work for her I guess.
She grabbed my arm spinning me back around to face her as I walked past her.
"I have two things to say. One; I now have address that MUM didn't need to pay for, so I AM still going prom and Two; You aren't going with Alex because I'm going to convince him otherwise," she said determined.
Poor her, she just doesn't understand when someone doesn't like her anymore, does she?
"Yeah, whatever," I said uninterested grabbing my arm back before walking back towards me room.
When I got to my room I had a text.
"The sleepover isn't tonight since every1 is goin to diff places tomoz, its tomoz night :)" From Katie
I guess she sent it to everyone and I even forgot about it, which was really bad. I replied to the text saying
"Alright see u tomoz night :)"
I changed into more comfortable sleeping clothes before hopping into bed and letting sleep over come me again.
-------------------------------------------------------Next Morning
I woke up stretching and smelling fresh eggs, bacon, sausages and toast. I guess my mum was making English breakfast. I quickly went to the bathroom to wash my face and brush my teeth. I'm actually not a fan of make-up and I'm sure that my mum realised that I've been wearing it lately. The bruise was faint but if you were close to me, you'd be able to see it clearly. So I quickly put a tiny bit of make-up on it and ran downstairs hoping that there would be enough food left for me.
"Good your up, I put some money in your account so that you didn't have to take your mums," my step-dad said
"Thanks dad," I said sitting down as my mum set my food in front of me.
I ate it steadily and saw my mum looking at me. I gave her a confused look when she sighed, laughing at the same time.
"Have you seen the time?" she asked me
"No," I answered putting my plate in the sink
"It's twelve o'clock," she stated at it took me about two hours to get ready.
"Oh gosh!" I said running upstairs as she just laughed at me
I took a shower, before brushing my teeth again and walking to my room to find something to wear.
I decided to put on a strapless flowing, yet just above my thigh floral dress, with brown gladiators. I used a brown belt to go just under my chest, putting on ear rings and a few bracelets.
Then it was time for my hair, I put it down, giving it a few loose curls before putting some mascara on and some foundation on the bruise. Just as I finished there was a knock on the door.
"I'll get it!" my mum shouted from downstairs
"Thank you!" I shouted back grabbing my bag, making sure that my keys, shop addresses and purse were inside before running down the stairs.
"You ready?" Alex asked smirking at my outfit, I guess approving it.
"Err hello?! I'm up here and yeah I am," I replied as he stared at my legs.
"Oh yeah, yeah," he said helping me out still smirking.
He helped me into the car and then ran over to his side before starting the car and driving to Phoenix which wasn't too far from where we lived.
We firstly went to destination one which was a cute tailor shop which had some dresses.
I got out of the car and we made our way to the shops.
"You look quite nice," Alex whispered in my ear, holding me by my waist. I gave him an evil glare only making him laugh.
"You really need to get used to this," he said as I just rolled my eyes.
The first shop didn't have any dresses that I really like. We walked around the shopping mall, looking into different shops, not just looking for my dress but his suit. About twenty minutes later I saw a dress that particularly caught my eye as an after party dress.
Plus it wasn't that expensive, only $70.
"You would look hot in that dress," Alex stated smirking at it
"That puts me off it," I said serious
"Fine then, you would look quite nice in that dress," he tried
"Better, I'm gonna get it." I said smiling as I brought it. So after party dress brought, but not formal prom dress yet.
Then I saw my dress as it caught my eye. It was a dark pin but they said that I could change the colour since it was just an example. They asked me for the date of my prom of which I told them and they told me that they could have it done for me by that week.
Alex was too busy looking at the guy section to notice what I was doing which was good. They measured me, asked me my preferable colour which I told them was dusty pink. When I was done I found Alex and since I knew what colour my dress was, we could finally help find him a suit with a handkerchief of the same colour.
He kept asking me to describe it but my answer was always,
"You'll have to wait and see!" which I was proud to say.
As we were walking and joking around I felt someone tap my shoulder. I turned around to come face to face with the guy that almost raped me. His face was quite bruised but was healing. My body went stiff, Alex turned around too probably from my suddenly uptight body and from his expression I knew that guy was going to get killed.
"So you weren't lying then? About the boyfriend?" he asked smirking
I just stared at him in disbelief. Was he a freak who benefited from trying to or even raping girls.
"I have to say that you're looking wonderful today," he said attempting to take my hand and kiss it. I snatched it back snuggling closer into Alex more, who looked like he was waiting for something.
"Why didn't you share her. I was about to get some as-------," he joked to Alex, only to be punched in the face.
I gasped moving back away from the situation.
"Call Aaron," Alex said his voice very dangerous again. I was still too stunned to move but came back to reality when he shouted,
"NOW!"
The guy got up and swung for Alex making me sequel and reach for my phone even faster. They fought each other and Alex got punched a few times, but was a better fighter.
"Hello?" Aaron asked lazily
"Aaron! Alex is fighting the guy!" I cried into the phone. I hated fights, especially if it had something to do with me (I mean I hate guy fights, since I always fight with Clair!)
"Nicki, what GUY? Don't tell me it's....." he said wondering off even though I knew what he was talking about
"YES! Were outside Phoenix mall come quick please!" I cried more
"Sh**! Amber I'm coming, I need to quickly handle some business. Nicki, I'm on my way!" he said before hanging up.
Everyone just walked past as if it was nothing and they saw fights in out the mall everyday.
"Alex!" I screamed as the guy hit his jaw. He looked like a footballer as well, so he could fight too. It felt like it was hours before Aaron came. Seeing the action he jumped right in.
"This is for trying to rape my SISTER!" he shouted punching the guy again so now it was two on one.
"Alex, thanks go look after Nicki, I got the rest!" he shouted at Alex who looked quite messed up. He was bleeding on his bottom lip and his jaw area was starting to swell up.
He looked at my state and rushed over to me putting me in his car.
"Look at you! This is all my fault!" I cried.
"No it's not. It's that fool's fault," he said pulling me to him.
I didn't know when but all of a sudden I heard police cars coming with their sirens and it sounded like there were a lot of them.
"Oh f**k!" Alex said
"Nicki can you just wait here please, I need to stop Aaron," he said in a rush. I quickly nodded and watched him fly out of the car. He pulled a very dangerous looking Aaron away from the unconscious (once again) guy.
Aaron must have noticed the sirens because before I knew it he ran to his car, the same as Alex did, before quickly reversing the car and driving out of the car park as the police cars drove in.
I continued to sob, but panicked when I realised that I didn't know where we were going.
"Where are we going?! We cant go my house, my mum with see us and she'll ask questions and then I'll have to explain i------" I rambled on
"Shh, don't worry. Were going my house. No one's home," he informed me squeezing my hand while holding onto it.
I nodded and kept quite, as tears silently flowed through my eyes and down my face.
