Chapter 4..... Things Could Change
I decided to walk to school and everything around me just seemed calm, the street was quiet and no one was out. Though I felt someone watching me again but now I felt two presents with me not just one anymore. One felt like it was very close me and the other was farther away, like one was across the street while the other one was behind me, I looked back but no one was there. This didn't bother me at all, I just continued walking, I knew it was nothing abnormal. I felt this feeling more often than I would like admit to. I got used to it after a while
As I was walking, people started coming out of their houses and started to walk the streets or get in their cars. I wasn't alone anymore. I seen the school come into view and I pulled out my phone to check the time. I pulled my bag to my side so I could reach the small front pocket. I was early, way too early for anyone else to be there. Maybe I'll walk around for a bit. I paused to think
I shrugged and placed my phone back in my bag pocket. I zipped it up then I continued walking to the school. Once I reached the front doors I looked at them, debating to open them or not. I stood there, oh whatever I'll go in. So I opened the doors. No one was there, just me, I was hesitant at first but I stepped in. I walked into the school, there was not a sound. The only thing I could hear was the echoing of my foot steps. I slowly walked the halls and made my way to my first class. Once I reached my class I sat down and placed my bag beside me. I unzipped the small pocket and grabbed my phone. I checked my phone again and I seen I had a text message. It was from my foster mom
•Hope you have everything for school•
•Yes•
I sent her back that text and I looked at the time it is 7:45 and still no one was here. I sighed I placed my phone back in my bag and zipped up the pocket. I looked down at the floor and closed my eyes and I took a deep breath. Then I opened them again then two feet popped up right there. I slowly looked up, then back down when I realized it was the boy I ran into twice yesterday, twice. Why was he here?
"Go away." I said
I didn't even look up at him when I talked. He didn't say a word but he just sat down beside me, not listening to my command. He was close to me, when I mean close I mean our knees are touching because we sat cross legged. I looked over at him
"Why are you here?" I asked
"Came to see you."
"You are really confusing, you talked to me yesterday, then I run into you again and you don't talk to me at all. Why?"
He didn't say anything, he just sat there. I turned my head slightly to see if he was looking at me, he wasn't. He didn't bother to look at me. I shoved him a little. He finally looked over at me, I moved closer to him because I was going to whisper, not for any other reason
"How do you know my name?" I asked
He looked at me and shook his head then looked away again. He sighed and just sat there. Now I was getting upset. He won't talk to me or answer my questions, seriously that's rude. I gave him a few seconds and still nothing. I got angry and I felt myself starting to lose control. I took one hand and I grabbed him and pulled him so close to me our faces were inches apart, that was the only way to get him to look at me, eye to eye
"How do you know me, why is it you only talk to me alone?"
He looked at me with a smiled. What the hell?
"You shouldn't do that." He said
I let go of him. I was so confused now, he just told me to not do that. Maybe because I would look bad. Then I realized that my anger was rising, I cooled myself down. He looked at my locket and looked back up to my eyes
"Nice locket." He said
"Um thanks." I said
We heard the doors open and he froze. He looked around and got up, that is when I seen a heart shaped locket like mine. Mine was gold and his was silver also he had a lot of different charms on his, so I'm guessing it was just a charm and it was smaller than mine as well. It was nothing like mine, was it?
"Wait why won't you talk to me in front of everyone else?" I asked
"It's safer." He whispered
Then he bent over and kissed my forehead and the foot steps got closer, why did he do that? Why did he just kiss my forehead? He stepped away from me. I looked over at the person who was coming. It was just my teacher, maybe he'll stay. I went to ask him what he meant but when I looked back to where he was, he was gone. After my teacher went into the class people started showing up and I sat there by myself until my teacher told me it was okay to come in. I walked into the class and it was just the teacher and myself. I took a seat and just waited there until class started
"So I see you have a bad reputation. Also why do you prefer Kat?" She asked
I got up from my desk and I walked towards her. This was going to be a heart to heart talk I guess, well here goes nothing I thought as I got to the front of the class room. I stopped walking when I reached her desk
"I have gotten into a lot of fights, and a few other bad things I guess. Being called Kat is a personal thing. Plus it's a nick name I've had for as long as I can remember." I said
I said that and a few other classmates came in. She nodded and smiled, after that I just decided to sit down at my desk. No more talking after that. I don't need more people knowing who I am. More people came in and soon after class started. We were learning about different types of bacteria's that are in different food that can harm you if the food isn't prepared properly. That class came and gone and soon came English again. As I walked to my class I thought about yesterday, I shook off my thoughts as walked into the room and sat down in my seat. Again I was the first one there, then the boy who tried to make his move on me yesterday came in, he looked at me then looked away
Perfect, he won't bother me again. I started to feel more comfortable here I guess, no one else has talked to me so I was laying low a little bit. People flooded the room and they all looked at me but some of them gave me dirty looks, which I don't know why. I guess word got around already about yesterday. Whatever, I got some work and I did it. Even though it was the second day we had to pick a ISP book so we would have enough time to finish it. It had to be an autobiography, or biography which ever one you want to call it. It's on, drum roll please. Jeremy Spencer
My teacher was a little shocked when I told her who I wanted to do my project on and the band he is in but she gave in. Yes! It was back to work time when I sat down and the class went by fast. Once English was over I decided to spend today in the cafeteria because going outside yesterday wasn't the best option. I opened the doors to the crowed cafeteria, I walked in and looked at all the tables. I picked a table and I sat alone, no one came to talk to me, I seemed to stand out which no body liked here. Or at least that's what I felt. I started to read a book until someone came up to the table. I didn't look up because I didn't really care for whoever was standing there. Probably someone else just trying to make a fool out of me
"Uh hi, could I sit with you?" A male voice asked
I looked up to see a boy standing there, cool another boy, I sighed internally. He was about 5'8" and had brown hair with what looked like natural blonde streaks, he also had green eyes. He had a slim build yet he seemed strong and muscular. But he had this really attractive look to him. I quickly reminded myself that this could go bad very fast. But before I could actually think it through and say no this is what came out of my mouth
"Sure." I said
He took the chair across from me and pulled it out. He smiled at me and sat down, he placed his bag down beside him but under the table. He tucked himself in close to the table then he adjusted himself. I put my book down, I was really intrigued on why he decided to sit down with me
"Hi I'm Jake." He said
He stuck out his hand, I was skeptical at first but I was happy he was taking the time to talk to me, so I shook it. I did it just to be nice, it would be cool to have at least one friend
"I'm Kat." I said
"So why are you here?" He asked
"I've had to move towns, I got expelled from the other schools in the town I used to live in."
"Are you planing to stay here a while?" He asked
What an odd question but I just went with it
"Yes I am, just until I finish school."
"What grade?" He asked
"11, you?"
"11 too." He said as he smiled
"So why are you here, at this table, with me?" I asked him
"You seem like a very interesting person." He said
"Right. Everyone else thinks differently." I said
"Do you have any friends?"
I looked around the table, then looked back at him as I shrugged
"Yeah lots." I said
Very big sense of sarcasm I have at times. He laughed a little and he smiled at me again. His smile was so bright and contagious, I felt butterflies in my stomach, and I have the overwhelming feeling of nervousness as he smiled at me. This shouldn't be happening to me, I've known him for like 5 minuets actually less than that. Maybe it's just the feeling of someone actually talking to me
"Well since you're sticking around for a while, I would like to become your friend, you know show you the ropes and such." He said
"Are you asking or inferring?" I asked
"Asking of course. Would you like to be friends?"
"Sure why not." I said
What am I saying?
"By the way, I love your locket."
He reached over across the table to touch the locket but nothing happened. I wasn't expecting him to reach out and touch it and he never asked what was in it or even if he could touch it. He touched it for a few seconds. After that we talked and laughed together, he was actually nice. I told him the basics, I'm a foster child who lost her parents when I was a kid. There was no way I was going to tell him who I really am, I trust no one with my secret. It could easily be used against me. He came across the topic about the boy who I scared yesterday with my 'red' eyes
"He said you have red eyes, but when I came over I seen you have wonderful blue ones." He said
I shook my head, my eyes are grey. I took out my phone and I looked at my eyes and they were blue, this is the first time in a long time they have ever been blue. I made it look like I sent a text so it wasn't obvious
"Red eyes, please." I said as I flicked my hair
"He also said you were strong."
"Well I've taken self defense classes, and when some boy you don't even know puts his hands on you, you really want to get away." I said
"He's my friend, his name is Jeff. But yeah he needs to kept his hands off, I'm pretty sure you could've taken his arm off." He said as he laughed
'I could've' I thought. I didn't say that out loud but I chuckled with him. He stopped laughing and smiled again, his damn smile is contagious
"I'll tell you what, I'll let him know not to do that again. You're my friend I will protect you now. Not only that but a lot of boys think you're hot."
I looked up at him. What did I just hear? I shook my head
"They do? No they don't."
"Yeah they do, you're new and different. Actually you're different from most of the girls at this school. The other girls like to flaunt themselves about, sleeping with all the guys and such. But you're not the type of girl to do that, a bad ass yes but a slut no."
"From the looks I have been getting I would say the opposite, all the guys have been giving odd looks. I guess I was wrong. Anyways have you ever slept with one of those so called 'slutty girls'?" I asked
I lifted up an eyebrow, waiting for his answer. I sat back in my seat and took a sip of my juice. A little personal yes but very fun to watch his reaction. His eyebrows went up completely and his eyes were wide open. He leaned over the table and I went forward to meet him halfway
"To be honest, and don't go spreading this. But no I've never slept with a girl. Or guy to get that clear." He said
I chuckled and nodded. Wow someone who is scared to let people know who they really are in fear of rejection, than again I shouldn't be talking but my situation is different, much different. Lunch was soon over an he walked to my next class and there was something I wanted to set straight with him. We stood outside my class room before the bell went so I decided to tell him
"Look Jake." I said
He turned his face towards me. We stood two feet away from each other and I took a deep breath before I started talking
"I'm not the kind of person who likes to be played with. You piss me off or play with me like a toy things won't end well. If you're like your friend Jeff, trust me I want nothing to do with you." I said
I stood my ground because I need to. I need to do this so I don't get hurt and so I don't hurt an innocent person or blow my cover. This was just in case something went wrong. Plus adding to my pain won't help anything, it will only increase my anger. And I'm sure he doesn't want to do that
"Trust me I'm not." He said
"I'm trusting you. If you break that trust, we are no longer friends."
He smiled at me and nodded. The bell rung and the halls flooded with people
"You have a strict code." He laughed
"Trust me. If you were in my place you would understand." I said
I didn't give him anytime to ask me what I meant he looked like he was going to say something. I waved him away and I entered my class and as soon as I opened the door I heard Jeff's voice come from behind me. I just sat down at my seat and Jeff came in and so did Jake. He isn't in this class. My teacher was sitting there and he head went up when Jake walked in the door, I was slightly puzzled
"Hey Jake."
"Hey Mrs." He said
"What are you doing here?" She asked
"I have a football game soon, so I'm not going to my class, we are being released in about 20 minuets anyways. Which means I won't be here at the end of the day." He said
He looked at me and gave me a small smile. He walked over to my desk, what was he up to now
"Maybe you would like to come?"
I felt breathless now. He's asking me to go to his game. But I have another class I can't. Jake walked to the front of the room
"I have another class, I can't." I said
"Go to the game, you're new here, but only this time. I'll sign you out of your other class just don't be spreading it around." She said
I nodded as a huge smile came upon my face. She became silent as everyone else started to come in as Jeff's and Jake's conversation carried on. I smiled and I packed my stuff, and everyone was seated. Our teacher talk for a while but we didn't do much at all. 20 minuets later an announcement was called asking the boys football to be released. The teacher stopped the lesson and Jeff walked out the door while Jake came over to me and stuck out his hand. He smiled at me. I took his hand and he pulled me up out of my seat and lead me out of the class. Everyone looked at me in awe
Maybe things could change in the long run. But right now, I'm going to a football game
•••••••••••••••
Do you want to know the other guys name? Or why he's there?
