Just as my thoughts were wondering about James and his plastic girlfriend. I heard a knock on the door it was Jake. He looked a bit pale as if he hadn't been sleeping much. I invited him in. We both sat down across from each other with an awkward silence filling the room.
Jake- I wanted to see you..
Jazmin- Well I'm here..
I had never felt such an uncomfortable awkwardness around him. It seemed as if he had felt it too as we both stared at one another with uneasiness.
Jake- I'm sorry I haven't called..
Jazmin- It's okay..I guess you've been busy..(Yeah right)
Jake- I want to invite you somewhere and please don't say no..
Jazmin- Where?
Jake- It's a surprise..Can you come?
Jazmin- Jake I don't know...
Jake- Please Jazmin..I feel like we need this..I just want to spend a moment with you alone.
Jazmin- *Sighs
Jake- Please..
Jazmin- Let me get my purse..
Jake- You won't need it and you're fine how you look..Just come with me..
Jazmin- I'm wearing Pjs Jake..At least let me change real quick I won't take long..
I went inside my room changed into some jeans and a tank top. I rushed downstairs and took the house keys with me and left a note for mom saying I was going out with Jake. As we got inside his car I felt really awkward around him. I don't know if it was just the feeling of guilt and uncertainty that made me feel this way. After what seemed to be a long silent drive we finally got there. It was a beautiful park none like I've seen before. We got out of the car and he instantly grabbed my hand without saying anything he led the way. We passed by a playground for kids which was empty since it was pretty late.
He suddenly stopped and laid a blanket on the grass. With a smile on his face he patted the empty spot next to him indicating me to sit down. I looked at him confused while he laid back calmly looking at the sky. So I sat next to him both of us silent at first. All we could hear were crickets on the distance almost sounding like they were harmonizing together. I saw him looking at me from the corner of my eye. However I didn't want to turn to face him. Suddenly I felt his hand reach my cheek as he starts to caress my face I felt like I was home again.
Jake- Lay down I won't bite..
Jazmin- I'm fine here..
Jake- You're missing the view..The whole reason why I brought you here.
Jazmin- I'm seeing it just fine from here..This park is beautiful Jake..I bet it even looks nicer during the day.
Jake- The view you're seeing is fine..The one I'm seeing is out of this world.
I look over my shoulder to see him and as I'm staring at him I notice his sweet blue eyes shinning with admiration. I think to myself this is the guy I fell in love with he's the one I want it's always been him but why do I feel so distant towards him. I have to shake this feeling off. So I laid down next to him and turned my eyes to the direction where his eyes were looking too.
Jake- You see what I'm seeing?
Jazmin- Wow there is so many stars! The whole sky is full of them..
Jake- Can't see these many stars from home..
Jazmin- Jake this is truly amazing..
Jake- I know..This is where I use to come when I was young..I would wait for the day to end and the night to appear as soon as the park was empty..I would come here and lay down on the grass and just enjoy the scenery..The smell of the fresh grass I think it's my second favorite.. *Chuckles
Jazmin- *Smiles..Why did you bring me here?
Jake- I wanted to share this special place with you..This place means a lot to me and so do you.
Jazmin- I can see why this place is so special for you..It's beautiful..
Jake- It's not only that..When my father and I argued a lot because things didn't go his way..I would come here and look at the stars wondering if my mom was one of those stars looking down at me.
He never spoke about his family. He would always say when the time comes he will open up but he never did till now. I was a bit shocked.
Jazmin- You're mother passed away?
Jake- I don't know..My dad doesn't tell me officially but he never talks about her I don't even have a picture of her. I don't know how she looks like but I've always imagined her to be a beautiful woman as bright as those stars up there..
Jazmin- Jake..I'm sorry ..
I took a hold of his hand assuring him that I was there and I wasn't planning on going anywhere. A tear fell off the corner of his eye my heart broke I had never seen Jake cry before. "You're important to me Jazmin I don't want to lose you also.." he said to me with his voice breaking. He was holding himself back from crying. I sat in front of him and softly caressed his face as our eyes met. There was a moment of silence between us. We got lost in each-other's eyes. I whispered with a sincere tone in my voice, "I love you Jake Berkeley I always have I always will".
He leaned towards me and kissed me with sweet passion. As I felt his soft lips touch mine and his arms wrap around my waist. I fell in love with him all over again. I didn't want the kiss to end. We continued for what seemed a long time. Our lips began to get numbed but we kept going. The feeling we both experienced was so innocent and beautiful. I felt the desperate need of love in his kiss and he felt mine. He might have lost his mother and I lost my father but we had each other and at that very moment that's all that mattered.
We headed back home after spending a wonderful night at the park. On the way we held hands and spoke about random stuff while he drove. We laughed at silly things we remembered as we were kids. He shared a little more about his life I didn't know about. For example he doesn't have sisters or brothers that are blood related. However he does have a step sister a year younger than him that is the daughter of the woman his father is married too now. He didn't tell me much about his dad though. All he mentioned was he's an ordinary business man and loves to try and control Jakes life. Money wise they live a stable life just like mine and he doesn't have any other relatives he would know about. We arrived to my house but still stayed inside the car talking. I didn't want the night to end.
Jazmin- So baby when am I going to meet your Family?
Jake- Umm..When the time comes babe.
Jazmin- What do you mean??..
Jake- Jazmin please don't start...I really don't want this night to get ruined I finally feel like we're back on track..
Jazmin- I'm not starting anything...I'm just wondering I mean we have been dating for two years and I haven't once met any of your family members..I didn't even know much about them till now..
Jake- Baby you'll meet them okay? Just not now..
Jazmin- When Jake? You've met my mom and aunties back in JacksonVille...I don't understand why I can't meet your family.
He got close to me and kissed me on the cheek. I felt annoyed by the persistence I was making towards the subject. However it was something that was really important to me. Even though I knew he loved me. I still couldn't understand why he hesitated so much over letting me meet his family.
Jake- I love you okay..Not introducing you to my family doesn't change what I feel about you don't ever forget that...It's not you..Just give me some time..
Jazmin- More time?..I don't understand you Jake but okay whenever you're ready..I guess..
Jake- Come on I'll walk you to your door..
Jazmin- It's okay..(I reach over to him and kissed him)
Jake- You're not mad are you?
Jazmin- I'm not baby I told you I'll wait till you're ready..I love you..
Jake- I love you too baby..See you tomorrow?
Jazmin- Yes.
Before going inside my house I blew Jake a kiss and then saw him leave with a smile on his face. I stood outside my door and looked up to the sky. I saw a little bit of stars nothing compared to what I had seen at the park. 'Every time I look up to see the stars now I'll remember this night with you Jake' I thought to myself. I was smiling to the good time I had spend with Jake. When I saw another car pull over to the drive way of the house next door. It was James he still had the football uniform on and a backpack hanging over one shoulder. He looked over to me and winked "Hello neighbor waiting for me?". I rolled my eyes and quickly tried to open the door of my house. Anything to avoid talking to that bone-head.
James- Hey you're not still mad at me are you?
Jazmin- Nope..*Rolls Eyes
I saw him walking towards me and all I could think of is why my mom had to put all the locks on the damn door. I couldn't open the door fast enough to avoid him.
James- Well the bump on your head seems like it went away like magic!
Jazmin- Uhm..
James- What's wrong?
Jazmin- Nothing.....(He is so annoying)
James- I feel like I'm annoying you for some reason?
Jazmin- So I see you are not only a cheater but a mind reader too..
James- What?? *Laughs
Jazmin- Don't laugh!! You and Lime or whatever her name is are going out!
James- Lime?...You mean Lina?.. *Laughs
Jazmin- I don't see anything funny about this..
James- Who told you that?..
Jazmin- Why do you care?..Your little cover is blown either way...So don't even try and lie about it!
James- Alright suit yourself Tiger..(Walks away)
Jazmin- Don't call me that! And don't walk away from me!
I walk towards him and grabbed him from his uniform shirt. As I do that he furiously turns around grabs both of my wrists and pushes me against the same tree Jake and I had made out by.
Jazmin- Let me go!
James- Who the hell do you think you are to pull me like that?!
Jazmin- (I saw anger in his eyes that frightened me) James stop!
James- Answer me!!
Jazmin- James....Please stop it.....You're hurting me..(I said in a lower voice looking deep into his piercing blue eyes that were blinded in rage)
James- (I didn't notice I was grabbing onto her wrists so tight I quickly let go) I'm sorry Jazmin...I'm really sorry..
He walks away from me gets inside his house and slams the door behind him. I stood there in shock trying to analyze everything that had just happened. I felt my wrists burn in pain they were red and still had his finger prints on them. I silently walked into my house and quietly passed by my mothers room. I heard her snoring she must've come home tired from work otherwise she would've been up waiting for me. Although when she knows I'm with Jake she seems to be less worried about me. She trusts him that much. Before heading to bed I took a bag of ice from the cooler and placed it on my wrists. Last thing I needed was my mom interrogating me.
I suddenly heard loud noises coming from James house. I got up and looked out the window without turning the light on so he wouldn't see me. There he was in his room getting yelled at by the same woman with the scrub uniform on. He was mad I could tell by his hand gestures and so was she. I went back to bed wondering who that woman was and why did James react to me pulling his shirt that way. It wasn't a big deal and he really did hurt me. I not only saw the anger through his eyes but I felt it too.
When he snapped out of it he noticed he was hurting me. It almost seemed like he had gone through a blackout. Whatever it was I had to keep distance from him. Although I guess I did have some fault in what happened. I didn't have any right to scream at him. By demanding answers like if he was my boyfriend and he cheated on me. I had to stop this nonsense and I had to keep him away from me as far as possible. Even if he lived next door and went to my school. I had to avoid him for my own good.
