( This is a story of mine I'm writing that takes place in the Minecraft universe, granted a few headcannons here and there, but it's a little event my characters shall take place in. Please excuse my rustiness for it's been a while since I last wrote anything, but if random people manage to find their way here, just know it's just a little personal project of mine that I'm winging as I go with minor things planned. )
Eve's POV
"That's the last of them!" I finished resetting all the traps I had set out as I walk back to the lazy albino dragon I managed to drag along with me today. Avery certainly seemed at unease the past month so I figured getting her in the sun would help.
The dragon laid down on the grass bored, her white, somewhat short fur on her body was covered in an array of black markings from her face to her tail, twisting and wrapping in every which direction. Her horns and underside was a beige color, black spikes on the side of her face and more that started at her snout that progressively went down the back of her head and transitioned to fur, as if she had a lion's mane. Her eyes had an orange tint, though her left eye was messed up, lacking the iris her right eye had, though I never learned if it was natural or not. Her body wasn't made of bulk the normal enderdragons would be, and she certainly wasn't the size of one either. Her build was a long, slender type, though she'd still be taller than me if she stood up.
On top of her mane sat Yuki, a reddish-brown kitten that never grew bigger than the palm of my hand. She had a few patches of cream here and there, along with black patterns too, but most noticeably was the one that gave her a raccoon looking mask on her face.
I finished adjusting the straps of the baskets on Avery's back, storing what food today's hunt had to offer. I look up to the sun, "Still midday." If anything, it feels odd... the atmosphere going on about in the air. "Probably me just being paranoid. Come on." I pat Avery as we begin to walk through the forest. Normally we would we would have flied back, but after years of living here Avery chased off a majority of the mobs out of the area, basically claiming this as her territory so the nights are not something to really worry about here. Even now, I can see creepers peeking out the caves as they prefer to keep their distance, hearing the soft mews from tiny Yuki.
The ground trembles slightly. It's been doing that for awhile throughout the weeks, each one progressively getting more intense. I figured it had only been an earthquake at first but since the start, Avery seemed really panicked. Since then her normal, lazy, bored attitude had changed to a more anxious one. I look ahead as we exit the forest, seeing the swampy marshlands we live at.
"Hey Avery.. do you mind telling me why you've been so- !!!!" The ground begins to tremble beyond extremities. All the other tremors would have only been able to knock down a cup but this, this one is far worse. I fall onto Avery's back as her eyes are wide, claws digging into the ground as she's frozen solid. "U-UP!!" I can't even bring myself to stand as I tug her mane, snapping herself into reality as she ascends in the air.
I adjust myself properly onto her back as I take a look at my surroundings, trees falling far off into the distance, clearly meaning this isn't the only area being affected. I snap my head towards the location of the jungle, deep rumbles awaken in that direction loud enough to the point my hands have to cover my ears as it only gets louder and louder, almost like cracking.
Blinding light shoots out into the sky, one by one all concentrated in one area as with each crack heard results in more light escaping. The last thing I see is it merging into one gigantic pillar of light, skyrocketing into space until I'm forced to shield my eyes, relying on Avery to take us home, hearing a thud as we land.
