Chapter Four: Comfort

That night, Sombra was awakened by a faint sound. As he followed it into Chrysalis's room, he realized she was crying in her sleep. As he sat on her bed, he heard Chrysalis mumbling, "no..... please... I'm sorry....". Sombra grew worried. He didn't know how to make her feel better, but he tried anyway. He picked her up, held her close to his heartbeat, and whispered, "It's okay. It's okay.". She awakened with a gasp, sat up straight and stared in surprise, and blushed. "Did I wake you up?". She asked. Sombra replied, "It doesn't matter. Are you okay?". "Y-yeah.... I'm.... I....". Chrysalis stuttered, crying as she clenched her hooves. Sombra held her hoof as he said, "Look, Chrysalis. You don't need to fret anymore. I-I will protect you. I promise". Chrysalis blushed, smiled, and said, "Thank you but.... why are you being so kind to me?". "Because you're a Queen! And even if you don't have subjects, you have me.". Sombra kissed her hoof before he started to leave, then Chrysalis said, "W-wait! Can you.... stay with me?". Sombra smiled gently as he said, "Of course, my Queen.".
