"you're not coming?" malia asked her boyfriend, laying on her bed.
she had called him once she heard that lydia was throwing a party. lydia threw the best parties in beacon hills. everyone knew that. so she knew it would be fun, so she hoped scott would be able to make it.
scott's voice was slightly muffled on the other side of the call. "no, i have to work. my mom and i need all the extra money we can get right now."
"oh. is there anything i can do to help?"
scott sighed. "no, but thanks."
malia was trying really hard to be a good girlfriend. so far scott seemed pretty happy, but he deserved better than "pretty happy".
"i don't know if i'll go..." malia said.
"don't not go just because i'm not."
"it'll be boring without you."
"no it won't! won't lydia be there?"
malia blew out a sigh. "yes, but i'm sure she'll be sucking face with stiles somewhere."
he sighed. "allison?"
"isaac."
"kira?"
"theo."
"cor- wait, theo? as in kira and theo?"
malia shrugged, even though she knew scott couldn't see her. "apparently they have something going on."
"wow. that was not at all expected."
malia laughed. "tell me about it."
scott was silent for a few moments. "go to the party, babe. you'll have fun."
malia groaned. "fine. but only because you called me 'babe'."

malia planned on just making an appearance and leaving. maybe even go visit scott at the animal clinic for a while after she left.
she walked into lydia's lake house, already able to hear the blaring music and cheers from outside. before she even walked in, she knew it would be crazy. thankfully, the nearest neighbors were miles away, meaning no complaints and no cops.
malia scanned the room in search of her friends. she looked to be the only sober person there. and she intended to stay that way.
"malia!" her name was called.
malia turned and looked to see theo stumbling towards her. "hi!" theo cheered, falling into malia's arms, forcing malia to catch him.
"theo? what's going on?"
"what do you mean 'what's going on'? it's a party!" theo giggled and his words slurred together. wait. theo giggled.
malia began to laugh at that thought since theo was usually the sad drunk, not the happy drunk. she wrapped her arm around his waist, holding him up. she dragged him throughout the house, in search of kira or liam or someone. she liked to think they were friends now, since he had apologized and all.
theo got heavy fast, causing malia to groan. "do you weigh five thousand pounds?"
theo laughed, continuing to stumble.
malia searched the whole downstairs finding no one. she groaned again. "where is everyone?" she asked the question mostly to herself, but theo decided to answer.
"i think they're upstairs." theo mumbled.
malia sighed, knowing she had to do what she had been dreading the entire time. she had to carry theo upstairs.
it was a struggle, several cuss words escaping her mouth on the way up, but she made it. she pulled theo up the stairs, and stopped to catch her breath afterwards. she pulled him into the first bedroom door she saw.
inside, a lot of her friends were there. stiles and lydia were laughing in a corner, her hands placed on his arms, holding herself steady. stiles' facial expression was enough to tell malia he was drunk. so was lydia. isaac and allison were jumping on a bed, isaac videoing with his phone. or taking pictures, she wasn't sure. kira and liam were playing rock, paper, scissors. but no scott, sadly. she wasn't expecting him, she knew he was at work, but she didn't like to go anywhere without him.
malia frowned. they were all drunk. very drunk. she pushed theo to the floor, where he hit the ground laughing.
"lydia!" malia shouted. she marched over to her and looked her in the eye. "why is everyone like this?"
lydia giggled. "it's a party, duh!" she turned back around and kissed stiles out of nowhere.
malia rolled her eyes and turned around. she obviously couldn't talk to anyone while they were like this. she sighed. she came, but she doubted anyone would remember it.
"bye!" malia said to no one. she began to reach for the doorknob when she felt someone grab her arm. theo. she impatiently asked, "what?"
theo smiled smally. he reached over and pushed the hair out of her face before leaning in and placing his lips on hers.
