Note: This story is taking place in both the HeartGold and SoulSilver universes which means both Legendaries will be encountered.

I do not know the true personalities of some characters like Kotone/Lyra, Ethan/Hibiki, etc. Their personalities will be predicted from the resources in the game, anime, and info source(s). Their Pokémon teams are decided by info sources and the experience of gameplay from my brother and myself.

Fonts that are darkened represents Author Notes and whose P.O.V it is. Italics are used on the main flashbacks or recaps of the past and any reading from engraved materials(wood, stone, pages, etc)

All Pokédex entries are a combination of the entries of HeartGold and SoulSilver.

Silver~

This girl was more dense than I thought, compared to my first impressions of her. She was trying to save an empty Pokéball while being exposed to that powerful Flamethrower attack... perhaps she wasn't smart enough to know there wasn't a Pokémon inside. I held my breath after I saw her fall with fire catching onto her clothes.

She could've died, and I was not going to die today, not until I know what truly happened to that man who was my father.

S... who was that bastard? How did he get one of my father's inventions? Was he a member of Team Rocket as well?

Lyra's breaths became more audible and so I checked on her, realizing she was finally asleep. I got off my seat and removed the ice off her arm before tucking her in. She had to survive; I needed her to survive.

"And you didn't even know that the Pokéball you were trying to save had no Pokémon inside... Don't expect kindness to be the answer to everything. Sometimes, the best way to get something is to be someone you don't want to be."

My ear picked up some chattering outside. I took a peak from my spot and saw a pack of people in the city. There were all smiling, laughing... cheering. That kind of stuff irritated me but I could see why someone like Lyra would want to go.

'She's probably going to cry about it,' I sighed.

I grabbed my Pokéball and one of Lyra's Pokéballs, bring the two Pokémon I knew could do me a few favours. Abra was the first to appear, just before Bayleef who looked at me with confusion. Later, she noticed Lyra's condition.

"Get some stuff from the festival and bring them back here," I instructed him.

The moment I told him, Abra instantly teleported away but Bayleef stayed behind, staring at Lyra with concern. I practically groaned as I watch the mutual feeling they had for each other known as friendship.

I saw it as weakness. What will kindness do to get a Pokémon be stronger? I guess some Pokémon required it but not all. You need to train to become stronger. Kindness will get you nowhere. To me, it was useless.

"Shouldn't you be more concerned about her happiness rather than her condition? She's only burnt," I told her.

I managed to catch a glimpse of relief in her eyes, causing a surge of distaste to seep into my head. To be honest, it's better if I say I'm not too comfortable with all this kindness stuff. After hearing my response, Bayleef brought out her vines and open the door behind her.

I watched as Bayleef left the room, which left Lyra and I on our own. Thankfully, she was asleep or I'm going to get such an annoying reaction from her. In terms of health, she seemed to be getting better. However, I wasn't heartless enough to not permit her from attending the festival.

As much as I hate being in public events, at least she would have some happiness in her life.

"It's like you've forgotten the fact we're tied up in this mess. You always look in the positive side of things," I sighed.

I seated myself beside her on the bed where her back was turned. It surprised me how she was able to sleep peacefully despite being in a critical condition. Even though I treated her pretty harshly, Lyra was able to see the positive sides of things.

"I don't hate you, but sometimes you can be annoying," I muttered, twirling a strand of hair between my fingers.

"S-Silver...?"

I focussed my attention on her mumbling. She actually sleep talks? "I wonder... what the festival is like... There must be a lot of colours and lights there..."

I looked outside. She was right; there were a lot of light and colour. So many people looked... happy. There were walking around with their Pokémon; smiling, cheering, happy... but I had already mentioned that kind of sight, and I don't feel anything when seeing them like that.

My soul felt empty, I guess. There was no signs of positive feedback from the sight I saw. I wasn't happy when those people are happy... actually, when have I been happy in my life? I barely remember anything from my past.

My mind suddenly rewinds to the incident back in Slowpoke Well. Proton was such a weak trainer, saying he'll revive Team Rocket even after Father had disappeared a while back. I clenched my fists.

I wasn't exactly sure why I was angry at that man but every time someone mentions him in some way, I grew angry and I was tempted to punch something.

As I was deep in though, something warm and delicate was placed above my fists, snapping me back into reality. Lyra's delicate fingers were attempting to unclench my fists, which I allowed her to do so.

"Why are you angry this time?" Lyra asked in a hushed tone.

"Shouldn't you be sleeping?" I countered her with another question.

Lyra softly smiled while her eyes were still half asleep. "I'm glad you don't hate me."

My face suddenly grew hot, causing me to turn away quickly and hide my face. After I did that, I heard a sudden groan from behind me. Once my face became more cool than hot, I turned around to see Lyra trying to get up.

Sighing, I wrapped one of my arms around her back and helped her up. The burn must've had an aftereffect or something. I helped her seat herself next to me. She rested her head on my shoulder which I didn't really care about.

"You're cold..." she mumbled.

"Good job for stating the obvious," I retorted.

She was glancing out the window, seeing what I had saw earlier. A smile formed on her lips. "I knew it... There are a lot of lights and colours there."

I looked over my shoulder, after hearing a few quiet footsteps in the room.

Bayleef placed a fairly medium-sized Pokémon doll on the bed, to what I remembered it being called Clefairy, before tapping her Pokéball and disappearing into the capsule. I managed to notice a glimpse of happiness in her smile before she disappeared.

Later, Abra did the exact same thing. In his hands, there were two bracelets: one of them with Ho-oh and the other one with Lugia.

As Lyra relaxed on my shoulder, I used my other hand and grabbed the stuff Bayleef and Abra got. It was a pain to actually agree into getting them, but It's better if Lyra's happy instead of whining or complaining.

I placed the Clefairy doll on her arms where she started hugging it even more tightly. After that, I placed the Lugia bracelet over the bracelet that we're bonded with. The bracelet Abra got had a blue band, with the width of around 2.5 cm. In the middle of the bracelet was a silver piece with the carving of Lugia.

The Ho-oh one was fairly identical. The only difference was that the band was red-orange while instead of Lugia, it was Ho-oh.

Lyra took notice of the bracelet I placed around her right wrist. "What's that?"

"Oh, it's obviously not a bracelet," I sarcastically informed her.

"No, I'm aware of what it is. But why?" she questioned.

I tilted my head so that its resting on top of her head. Lyra's breathing began to slow down a bit, meaning she is fully relaxed and calm. Knowing that, I let out a breath.

"Ho-oh and Lugia were never rivals. Once the Brass Tower was destroyed, the pair parted. Perhaps I gave that to you as a sign of hope, but it's mainly to take your mind off the bracelet that binds us together," I said, putting the Ho-oh bracelet around my left wrist.
