It had been almost five years since the knife throwing male had joined the circus. (M/N) was just twelve when he ran away from his parents, in hopes of joining the touring circus and escaping the nightmare he had been living.
After taking a few tests, (M/N) had been brought into the circus just before they travelled away from his hometown. He had gotten a tent to share with a few other boys, mostly older than him, something that he didn't really mind.
(M/N) always had fun with the other boys, happily pulling pranks on them multiple times. One could say that he fit in nicely.
Once he had gotten around to actually being in the show, (M/N) had gotten so proud and after seeing the audience taking a liking to him, (M/N) was allowed to stay in the show and play his act, for every single one of them. He had even gotten his own banner, his name and act embroidered onto said banner.
(M/N) had been so proud, the at the time fourteen year old, jumping happily around in the main tent after getting told. People could be heard laughing at the males silliness, although even further as the boy ended up running into a bunch of equipment.

Yao had been out of the house for at least three hours. He had decided to run away, making a large suitcase drag behind of him. 'I just have to find the main tent and talk to the owner of the circus.. I'm sure they're picking up new members..' The Chinese male thought to himself as he finally put a foot down on circus ground.
Multiple people were running around, practicing their act and helping each other out. Some were also putting up smaller tents a little behind the main one, most likely the tents the actors themselves would be sleeping in. Yao's felt his heart skip a beat as he looked around at the diverse group of people. He instantly felt a connection, the male standing in aw for a little, only to be interrupted when a small boy ran into his leg. "I'm sorry, but you're kinda in the way!" The boy yelled briefly, simply running off again.
The Chinese male looked slightly confused as he turned to look after the boy, although let out a sigh, starting to move for the main tent. More noise could be heard as he got closer, a (Brunette, Blonde, Ginger, Ravenette, Crimsonette..) in the middle of performing for the instructor who seemed to be checking that it was done properly.
(M/N) was jumping around, a metal pipe being his only connection to the ground as he started throwing daggers at his target. Which happened to be a petite girl, who was looking somewhat bored with the act, something Yao could see through her fake smile. "Cut!" The director suddenly yelled as (M/N) threw a dagger, although yelped as he wasn't able to throw the dagger properly, due to the shock the sudden yelling had caused. The platinum blonde woman by the wall had to duck her head down as she didn't wish for a dagger to hit her face. Boringly she started over at the instructor, whom (M/N) had started scolding loudly. "You're the one who wants this to be safe, eh? Then how about ya don't start screaming when I'm performin'!?" The boy yelled out, daggers shattered over the floor just like the thick metal pipe he had previously been standing on.
The director simply grunted, turning to look at Yao. "I don't like interruptions, you know that.. Everyone at my circus knows that, which means, you're not from around here, are you, boy?" The director asked with a smug grin, making Yao take a few steps forward and into the light, out of his small hiding spot behind one of the large curtains. Yao shook his head, his suitcase trailing behind him as he stepped into the arena.
"No, I used to live in the city close by. Although, I can away.." Yao told, his sentence followed up by the male previously performing. "So you're hopin' to join our circus, ain't ya?" (M/N) asked, his grin smug as he picked up his daggers, throwing them all towards the centre of a dart plate before turning back to Yao. "We don't just take in newbies. You've got to have what it takes. Have ya got what it takes, eh?" The (Brunette, Blonde, Ginger, Ravenette, Crimsonette..) asked, his arms soon crossed. (M/N) soon felt a hand touch his shoulder, causing him to turn around as he was faced by the face of the director.
"This is a place for everyone. We have magicians, we have jugglers, we have lions and lion tamers and we sure as hell have runaways, now don't we (M/N)?" The director asked with a frown, reminding the somewhat cocky boy of where he came from, causing (M/N) to let out a sigh. Although he soon nodded. "We'll see what you can do tomorrow after our big show. We're all tired and need to get a good nights rest.. You can share a tent with this cocky asshole, he's got more than enough space in his tent!" The director stated, letting a loud chuckle fill up the large tent. Although before anyone could protest, the director had already left, making Yao turn towards (M/N) with a soft smile.
Yao waved softly, causing (M/N) to snigger and walk over to the brunette boy, wrapping an arm around his shoulder. "So, what's ya act? Oh yeah.. And what's ya name?" (M/N) asked with a widely spread grin, as he dragged Yao out of the main tent and around the field. "My names Wang Yao-" "Nice to meet ya, Wang!" (M/N) interrupted, handing a hand out which Yao didn't take. "No, that's my last name! Call me Yao, aru!" He told with slightly furrowed brows, causing (M/N) to cock a brow of his own.
"If ya say so!"

After a little while of stumbling around the field, (M/N) had showed off most of the necessary places to know, even letting Yao meet a few people. Mostly the groups like the magic trio, to where one was very hesitant about letting Yao into their tent without him paying. The Englishman's pettiness had led them to leave and instead they met the trio of clowns as well as the Nordic five, a group containing purely Scandinavian acrobats who (M/N) happened to be quite close with, the noisy male quite similar to one of the Nordic fives own member, Matthias.
After visiting a few other nearby tents, the cheeky (Brunette, Blonde, Ginger, Ravenette, Crimsonette..) decided to show Yao the tent he would be staying in. It wasn't anything too fancy, although it looked very comfy. It was very personalised, a few more decorative pieces in the room. There had also been added an extra bed for Yao to sleep on, which had been placed on the floor next to (M/N).
"So, this is where you'll be stayin'.. It's nothin' fancy or anythin', but no one really bothers coming over here anyways, so I don't mind!" (M/N) stated with a laugh, causing Yao to laugh softly as well. "I like it. It's very.. You, aru!" Yao told, sending (M/N) a small giggle as he walked properly into the tent, making him stop his suitcase.
Yao soon sat down on the bed placed on the floor, thinking a bit about what he had accomplished during his first day away from home. At his first day in a proper circus. Sighing softly, Yao pulled a small smile, only to be poked on the shoulder. "Hm, what?" Yao asked, turning his head to look up at the other male in the room, his smile still lingering. "Ya never told me what ya act is. So, what is it?" (M/N) questioned, a small smile on his own face as he placed his arms behind his head, leaning on the head of his bed. Yao thought for a little, not needing much time before he turned back to the other. "I have very nice balance, aru. Also I used to work at my family's restaurant and the way we cooked, I'm rather skilled with fire," Yao stated, making (M/N) chuckle softly, the male moving to sit up. (M/N) sat up, staring down at Yao with a cheesy grin. "Ya 'rather skilled with fire'? How much of the restaurant did ya burn down?" He asked, cocking a brow, making Yao turn around, hitting the others shoulder. Only making (M/N) laugh louder. "Alright, alright! Sorry, sorry.. I'm just messin' with ya, don't worry, you'll be fine at the audition tomorrow," (M/N) stated, rubbing his shoulder and neck a little before continuing. "The director of our circus is really chill, so there no need to worry."
In reality Yao had only started to worry after (M/N) brought it up so many times, the male feeling a chill go down his spine. The two boys talked a little more, before deciding on going to bed, although as expected, Yao couldn't fall asleep as he was nervous for the day to come. (M/N) was already asleep, snoring loudly from his own bed. An arm hung of the edge, as the (Brunette, Blonde, Ginger, Ravenette, Crimsonette..) boy definitely wasn't laying still in his bed, always shifting around when Yao was just about to fall asleep. Yao was shifting too, probably for another reason than the already sleeping male. Yao was clearly worried about not being able to pass the tests he would be put to, the male sighing as he thought about what he would have to go back to.
"No.. I'm going to make it, this is all I ever wanted," Yao assured himself, calming his nerves with deeper breaths as he looked slightly over at (M/N) who was then laying still. The male had actually woken up, but instead of worrying Yao, he kept quiet, shifting a bit again to make himself seem convincing. Yao shrugged it off, laying properly down on the small bed that had been made for him. "I can't go back.. Not now, not ever, aru.." He mumbled, turning around, before hearing more shuffling.
(M/N) had sat up in his bed, looking down at Yao, feeling bad for the boy who had decided to try and fall asleep, even though his heart was raising from being nervous. "Ya know, Yao.. I get how ya feel, I've been there.. But, if ya just explain the situation to the director, then I'm sure he'll let ya stay," (M/N) assured, making Yao cock a brow before shaking his head, feeling slightly ashamed. "I would gladly train ya myself? I'm quite the charmer with the audience as ya know!" (M/N) told excitedly, smiling proudly as Yao made a sigh, turning over to look back at (M/N), sitting up just like the other.
"I appreciate your help, aru. But this.. Is something I must do myself," Yao stated, soon sending (M/N) a friendly smile. "But I promise you, that I'll be right here, sharing a room with you tomorrow, aru."
So I don't know if this is shitty, to be honest, I wanted to do so much more with this but I could only get it to be 1.855 words in total, because I had literally no inspiration for this one. I wanted to do it like real bad and I was really excited for it early but because I'm doing some special school stuff this week (and possibly the next two after), I don't have access to my computer like I normally would and I therefore have a bit of a difficult time finding time to do some writing.. I hope you can bear over with me and enjoy this one shot.
