Florence had been balancing a small rock tower throughout Frederick’s discussion with a few knights in heavy armor. There were three of them. Their faces masked with armets, visors down so she could not tell what they looked like except for one. One of them had taken off his armet, exposing his short, golden hair and his shimmering purple eyes, which were odd, yet fascinating to Florence. When the knights spotted Fredrick and Florence, they were almost to the border of Canra. They spoke of matters and events involving the kingdom, some of which included the recent demon infestation many countries were facing. Florence, a girl only at the age of fourteen years, stepped into their conversation.

“Have you any idea where the demons come from?” Florence asked and dropped a rock from her hand knocking over the mini tower she made.  The knights turned to her then back to Frederick. He could not help, but let a small smile catch his lips.

“Children shouldn’t be interrupting adult conversation.” One replied crossing his arms and shifting his weight to his left. Florence caught sight of his movement and narrowed her eyes. She could tell he was very exasperated.

“I was about to ask the same question.” Frederick said raising his brow.

“So be it. They come from the north side near the town of Kalio.” Looking up, his hand reached out to the left pointing to north. Frederick slightly nodded his head in thanks. Florence found that she could not really look away from the knight with purple eyes. Her curiosity seized her.

“Why are your eyes that color sir?” Florence asked him. He turned to her a smile marked his face.

“A medical condition young miss.” He appeared very kind. Frederick and Florence exchanged looks.

“I’ve never seen such a condition.” Frederick said with interest.

“It’s very uncommon so it’s no surprise that one doesn’t know.” He replied. He turned to Florence.

“Does she not have the same condition? I’ve never seen someone with orange eyes.” He said.

“I might guess, are there any particular symptoms?” Frederick and Florence shared a glance again.

“Nothing the doctors could find, except that your blood might run colorless or else gray.” He rubbed his armored forearm.

“I see. Well, we best be on our way sirs, we need to make it to Canra before nightfall. I fear we’re not as safe as we are in the daylight.” Frederick shook their hands.

“Aye, have a safe trip and good luck in Canra.” He said. Florence tailed behind as Fredrick started to leave. The knights too made their leave.
