Maggie saw it in Sue’s eyes. She couldn’t help but she got jealous. She knew, Sue was Jenna’s best friend and she’d try to like her but this wouldn’t be easy. She still smiled at Sue but held Niall’s hand tighter. He seemed to see nothing.
Jenna looked at Maggie and Maggie knew she was right. She didn’t sigh. She stayed calm and smiled. “So, Sue, I heard you speak german?“
Sue nodded and glared at Maggie as if she had just turned up. “Yes, but I’m not very good though.“
“Do you know what ‘Er ist mein Freund‘ means in english?“, Maggie asked and regreted it instantly. She wasn’t protective or jealous normally. Probably because this was Niall Horan…
Sue nodded, but didn’t answer. Jenna and Niall just stared at them, Jenna desperate and Niall confused. He didn’t seem to know what was happening between the two of them. “Sue, can we talk?“, Jenna asked.
She went to the door, followed by Sue. Harry was just staring at them, then he gave Niall a look.
“What did she say?“, Jenna asked without looking at Maggie so she didn’t think they were talking at her – okay, probably she was already thinking but she shouldn’t know.
“He is my boyfriend“, Sue translated.
“I love you, Sue, but Maggie is right. The two of them are a perfect couple.“
“But I love Niall more than her!“, Sue scream-whispered.
Harry turned to face Sue but she didn’t see it. She also didn’t know Harry had heard her. He looked over to Niall and Maggie and she had kind of a desperate look on her face. Why did she know? Girls always knew. Niall was totally planless.
“Sue, you can’t say you love him more. You don’t know how much she loves him. And you have to admit – he loves her too.“ Jenna sighed. She didn’t want to disappoint her best friend but Maggie and Niall were meant to be, not Sue and Niall. Sue should tell Jason her feelings. Jenna knew he liked her back but Sue didn’t believe her.
“Are you my friend or hers?“
“Both“, Jenna said and became more and more desperate. She didn’t want to loose Sue but Maggie was also an important friend to her and she didn’t want to miss one of them. “What about Jason? I thought you’d like him.“
“You know I always loved Niall. Jason was just there because I couldn’t have Niall.“
“You still can’t have him“, Jenna responded.
“How do you know?“, Sue said a bit angry. “Maybe he dumps her soon.“
Now Harry walked at them and smiled. “Jenna, Sue, sorry to interrupt you but I… couldn’t not hear what you were talking about“, Harry looked at Sue with narrowed eyes. “I don’t know you really but I know Niall. And he doesn’t fall in love easily. So if he fall it will last long. Really long. And I don’t want anyone to ruin it.“
“Why is everyone against me?“, Sue asked with watery eyes. She looked first at Harry, then at Jenna. “I’m speechless. I was really looking forward to this.“
“Me too“, Harry said honest. He really wanted to meet Sue because he wanted to know everything about Jenna but this wasn’t good. Harry sighed. “Isn’t there a boy you fancy?“
“Niall“, Sue responded. She looked over at him, seeing him playing tag with Louis, Zayn, Maddie and Maggie. Great. She felt like crap and they had fun together. “You know what? I’m just gonna leave.“ She wanted to go but Jenna grabbed her hand. “Come on. I’m leaving tomorrow. Should we really split up like this?“
“You can do whatever you want“, Sue said anngry.
“Don’t be childish. You know I love you. Please don’t go like this.“ Now it was up to Jennato start almost to cry. This should be a better day. Harry was there!
“Don’t start crying!“, Sue and Harry said the same moment and this time Maggie and Maddie turned around to look at them. They came to Jenna and looked at her worried. “Jenna, are you okay?“ Maggie looked at Sue and didn’t know what to feel – anger or sympathy. “Sue“, she started.
“What?“, Sue shouted.
“Can’t we talk like normal people?“, Maggie asked.
“I’d prefer if we’d talk in german so they don’t understand us“, Sue said but didn’t look at anyone else, not even Jenna.
“Alright“, Maggie said.
“Ich liebe Niall auch“, Sue said and suddenly she wasn’t angry anymore. She seemed to be desperate.
Niall looked at Sue. He hadn’t understood a word but he was sure he had heard his name. Would be some weird coinidence if Niall was a german word.
“Aber…“, Maggie sighed. She didn’t know what to respond.
“Nichts aber. Ich will ihn!“
Maggie sighed again. Normally she fangirled about other people speaking german without any mistakes but this time she couldn’t. It was just too serious. “Gibt es keinen anderen?“
Sue shook her head. “Nur Niall.“
“Aber ich liebe Niall auch.“ Maggie looked over to Niall who looked confused at their conversation. “What are you talking about?“, he asked. “I know you’re talking about me.“
Maggie looked at Sue. “Du bist seine Freundin“, she said scornful and looked at Jenna. “Sag’s du ihm.“
Maggie sighed again. This was almost her last day with Niall. And Sue ruined everything. “Wirklich?“
Sue nodded and so Maggie translated everything: “She said she loved you too. I responded ‘but‘ but I couldn’t finish my sentence because she said ‘Nothing but. I want him!‘ and I asked if there wasn’t another guy and she said NO. And I said I loved Niall too.“ She blushed as she recognized what she said. She loved him! She admitted it finally! Did it really take another girl so she knew she loved him? And she didn’t even tell him first…
Niall seemed to think the same because he was speechless. “You love me?“, he managed to ask after some time.
Maggie blushed even more and didn’t dare to face anyone exceot for him. She had totally forgotten that Sue was there and she decided to nod. “Yes, I love you, Niall…!“
Niall started to grin like an idiot, and took her hand to pull her close. He didn’t kiss her, he just wrapped his arms around her and hugged her. Not more.
Sue sighed and wanted to run off but Jenna ran after her. “Sue, wait!“, she shouted and thank god she was faster than Sue. “Listen, I understand you. If she was with Harry I wouldn’t like it aswell.“ She frowned as she remembered why Maggie had this accident.
“You really do? You don’t have to see him loving another girl.“ Sue cried now and Jenna sighed. “You don’t know Niall and you know that I’m right. You think you know him but it’s something different to live beside him and love him or love him through a screen or at a concert. Please. Tell Jason what you feel. He really likes you. I asked him.“
“You did what?!“, Sue asked shocked. Her face paled.
“I’m sorry. But I asked what he was thinking about you and he said he would really like you and he wanted to give me his number to give it to you but he hadn’t anything to write onto.“ She smiled. “And I heard you already have his phone number. What is there between the two of them?“
Sue shook her head. “I think he likes you more.“
This sentence confused Jenna as hell. “What?“
Sue faced the ground. “I think he has a crush on you.“
“Why should he?“
Sue looked at her and laughed. “Jenna, you are stunning. Look at me. If I stand next to you I look like a ugly potato. And I said ugly because I look like a potato in general.“
“You don’t!“, Jenna refused. “Don’t ever think so!“
“Why does Harry love you and why can’t Niall love me?“
“Because they love with their hearts and they found something in me and Maggie. I really don’t know what Harry found in me but I’m glad he did. I’m really sorry for you… but…“
Sue sighed. “Okay, I will think about it. When will you go tomorrow?“
Jenna smiled relieved. “Two p.m. I love you, Sue, don’t you dare ever to forget!“, she laughed, hugged Sue and gave her a kiss on her cheek. “Thanks a lot. I love you.“
“Love you, too“, Sue responded and pushed back from the hug but with a smile on her face. Then she turned around and ran home.
