Chapter 11-
Tamara’s P.O.V.
I could hear the footsteps getting closer..... Great, now what am I suppose to do. I’m stuck in a small room full of the sport and GYM equipment, it has a weird smell that makes me feel like passing out, and I’m stuck squished next to my male best friend! I bet he’s enjoying this. Ugh! This is so not the way I wanted to spend my Monday. Wait.....Light bulb!!!!! Hahahah! I’m a genius! Oh....Your probably wondering what I’m talking about right? Well I don’t know weather I’ve told you but last week some of the senior boys decided it would be a good idea to lock me in this room, FYI this was last week on Wednesday, and I was stuck in here for about 30min! Though while I was in here I found an air vent that was conveniently placed on top of a cupboard.
I quickly jumped up and started to move some boxes so I could climb up to it. “What are you doing? She’s going to hear us!” Dick yelled in a whisper. “Shut up and help me. Move those boxes over here.” I instructed Dick. He was about to say something but then we heard something hit the floor out side. We looked at the door then back at each other with wide eyes. He quickly got to his feet and started to move the boxes with me at a fast but quiet pace.
I put my hand up to tell him to stop moving the boxes. Then I started to climb up the boxes like stairs. I’m pretty sure that he could see up my stupidly short skirt that was compulsory to wear as part of the uniform. Luckily I was wearing my bike shorts underneath my skirt. Since it was dark I used that to my advantage and quickly used one of my ‘abilities’. My eyes shifted into what looked like a cat’s eyes, then my nails grew longer and sharper, sort of like claws. I grabbed one of the air vent’s old rusted screws and pulled it out with ease, then I continued with the others. Once I was done with that I quietly removed the vents cover and placed it down carefully on top of the cupboard. I motioned for Dick to follow me and after a second of hesitation he complied and started to climb up the boxes and into the vent behind me. He pulled the vents cover back over the entrance then we started to crawl our way through the dusty vent.
It was silent most of the way through the vent, besides the occasional creak from below or sneeze from Dick or myself. We finally made it to the opening that I had been heading for, the outside entrance. I turned myself around so that I was lying on my back and my legs were out in front of me. With one swift movement I kicked the vents cover and it burst open flying into the distance. I jumped out followed by Dick, who had been surprisingly quiet and calm considering the situation we were in. I landed on the luscious green grass of the football field and breathed in the fresh air. I’m not one for small spaces, but it was actually quite fun having an adventure with one of my friends. I tuned around to find that the vents cover had been put back on and Dick had disappeared. Holy Shiitake Mushrooms! Artemis must have gotten him in a surprise attack and now she’s going to get me!!!! Calm down Tammy, Dicks just probably messing with you. “Dick. Where are you?” I asked cautiously walking around the field looking in all the hiding places that came to my mind.
Then it hit me! Literally! Something had jumped onto my back and I was now falling face first onto the ground! What ever was on my back suddenly got off but I was still falling. I was about to hit the ground when a force pulled on my waist and lifted me back up while spinning me around. I turned around to fast and the person who pulled me up was now falling backwards still holding onto me. We landed with an OMFFF! I had fallen on top of the person in a straddle position and when I looked up to see who it was I just smiled and shook my head with a laugh. “We are doing this way too often.” Dick spoke from under me. I had come face to face with a smirking Dick Grayson who was now trapped under me. “Your an idiot” I said still laughing. “Then why am I in all of your classes?” He asked raising an eyebrow. Wait, did he just complement me or insult me? I don’t know. But I’m hoping it was a complement, for his sake.
We were just looking into each others eyes when an announcement came over the speakers. “Attention all students, here is an announcement that I’m sure will excite everyone. After much discussion and preparing, it has been decided that we sill be having a disco this Friday!!!!!!!!!” There was an eruption of cheers that could be heard over the speaker along with a slight pause. “And the theme that has been decided is...........Masquerade ball!!!!! You can buy the tickets for only from the courtyard tomorrow, and for the rest of the week, during the morning before school starts. So start looking for a date to go with, get a mask and get ready for a night of dancing and fun!!!” The lady, probably one of the students, announced and when she finished there was an eruption of chatter through out the school that could be heard a mile away.
“So, you going to go to the ball?” Dick asked bringing me out of my thoughts. “Eh....Maybe. What about you?” I replied. “Probably not. But if you go then I might go. I don’t think it would be as fun with out you.” He said while looking me straight in the eyes. I felt heat rise to my cheeks and then, after realising what he said, there was a faint brush of pink that came over Dicks cheeks too. He looks so cute when he blushes!...........Forget I ever said that. I looked back into his eyes and we both just sat there starring at each other again. But of course, nothing good ever last. The sound of someone clearing their throat pulled me from Dicks amazing ocean blue eyes. We both looked up to see who it was, and I did not expect who was standing there. Our PDH teacher was standing there with his arms folded over his chest while he tapped his foot impatiently on the ground. He raised an eyebrow at us and gave us a suspicious look. A blush formed over my cheeks. “Well well well. Seems like we got a little something blooming here.” I was trying to find the right words. “Oh no no. It’s not what it looks like sir. You see......” I started, trying to explain what had happened. “Oh Tamara. I would’ve expected this from Mr Grayson, but not from you.” He said back sounding disappointed. “Both of you come with me to the principals office, please.” He sighed then started walking away.
I sighed as well and went to go look at the floor to find Dick still looking up at me with a smirk on his face. “You know I can’t get up until you get off of me, right?” He asked. “Yeah I know.” I smirked back at him then slowly got off of him. I held out my hand, he took it, then I helped him up. I started walking away following Mr Flanders, our PDH teacher, to the principals office. When we got there we saw Artemis sitting outside his office on one of the four chairs. Great. Dick and I sat down leaving one seat between her and us. A devilish smirk came over her face. “So, did I scare you enough” She said cockily. Dick and I both looked at each other confused. “HAHAHAHA! I tricked you! Of course I knew that Tammy would never do anything like that.....Well probably not with Grayson over here.” She said laughing hysterically. “Wait.....What!!!” Dick and I said in union. “So your telling me that we were spent the hole of lunch running away from you, when you were only joking?!” I yelled at her. She let of a small giggle. Since when did Artemis giggle. “Yep pretty much. Ha you should have seen your faces! They were priceless” She answered still laughing. “Shhhh!!!! Were in the middle of discussing your punishments. For Miss Crock you were caught running in the hallways along with Miss King and Mr Grayson. Though I am disappointed in you two Tamara and Dick. Caught lying on top of each other with only centimeters of distance between your bodies. I would have never expected that from you two, and especially at school.” Our Principal, Mr Goodmen, announced shaking his head.
From the corner of my eyes I could see Artemis’ eyes widen as she looked at Dick and I. I looked away and avoided all eye contact with her as Mr Goodmen walked back into his office. “I knew I couldn’t trust you Grayson! The second I leave you two alone you make your move and.......” Artemis started yelling in a whisper but Dick quickly interrupted her. “Wait, hold it right there. I did nothing, and for the record, she was the one straddling me! Not the other way around.” He whispered back and Artemis stared daggers at him. “I don’t believe you.” She said. Great now I have to back him up. “Actually, he’s telling the truth. Though he did sneak up behind me and push me, but I fell the wrong way and that lead to me sitting on top of him.” I confessed and rubbed my arm a bit embarrassed. “Ugh fine! But I’m still going to keep you on my radar Grayson. I still don’t, and I never will, trust you.” She said then turned to stare at the office door. “Awww, I’m touched” Dick answered back and I laughed. It then became silent as we waited to hear our punishments. I wonder what the punishments going to be......
