Kaira and I both walked down into the rooms that we would be living in at Mount Justice. I began to unpack all of my things and placing everything in their place. Once everything was in it's proper place, I decided to just sit around my room. I was too shy to go back out there right now. I pulled out my sketchbook and began to draw. I had taken art in high school and Batman encouraged it by hiring me countless art teachers. Each with a different skill. Batman said that my art should be used as a "grounder". Meaning it should be used so I don't have an overflow of emotions. As I sat in my room and was drawing, the last thing I expected was for somebody to burst in. That, of course, was exactly what happened. Wally burst into my room so fast that I jumped and fell off of my bed from fright.
"What the hell?!" What gives you the right to burst into somebodies room like that! I could have been changing!" I yelled at him.
"Hey it was an accident! I meant to knock but I couldn't stop running that quickly. Besides I wouldn't have minded walking in on that." Wally said with a smirk.
I felt myself boiling over in anger and I went to go and punch him and right as I was about to, a giant green hand came and grabbed me and hoisted me up in the air. I looked and saw Kaira smirking in the doorway, the hand was coming from her power ring. I glared at her and began to struggle.
"Kaira, let me go so I can calmly kill him in peace." I said softly to her.
"First day here and you're already making death threats." She joked.
"Is she always like this?" Wally asked.
"Usually. I mean she is partially insane." Kaira joked around.
Kaira let me down and I calmly walked over to Wally.
"Stay out of my room unless invited. I have things in here that I don't want anybody touching. The first thing you never touch is my sketchbook. You touch that and I won't hesitate to rip you apart with my bare hands." I glared at him.
"Fine. Fine. But if I am invited into your room, can I touch whatever I want?" He smirked.
"If the only reason you came in here was to test out cheesey pick up lines, get out."
"Chill out. I came in here to tell you that M'gann made some cookies. They might be burnt or they might not be. Anyway she told me to tell you."
"Alright. I'll go."
"May I escort you?" He joked.
"No thanks. But I'll race you. And...GO!" I yelled and sped off.
Wally was caught off guard, but that didn't stop him for long. By the time I was nearly at the kitchen he had caught up with me. I went to stop before I crashed into the kitchen but that's easier said then done. As both Wally and I tried to stop, we crashed into each other and the table in there. I groaned and tried to push myself up off the ground. Only that, upon opening my eyes I realized that Wally was under me, not the ground. Luckily for me, he hadn't opened his eyes and I was able to get up and cover my face again. I helped him up once he was over the pain and shock of the crash.
"Sorry about that. Guess I really do need some mentoring." I said quietly.
"Don't worry about it. You're getting used to the power. It's cool, your power. Must be pretty fun." he laughed.
"No. Not really. I'm mostly just seen as a amazing weapon to most people." I frowned.
"Trust me, with the lack of training you have, I wouldn't worry about it." Wally joked.
"Hey! I do have training! Just not enough!" I yelled.
It was at that moment Wally and I realized that the rest of the team had been there the whole time. Except for Kaira who had just walked in and stood beside Kaldur. Wow, she was so obvious. I tried to ignore all the looks that they were giving Wally and I.
"So where are these cookies! Consumer and I haven't eaten since like 7:30am!"
"Oh! They're right here!" M'gann smiled widely.
Kaira and I ran over to the cookies and grabbed a handful of them each. Kaira went to go and sit with the rest of the team while I went to go sit by myself in the corner. I knew that Kaira wanted to get to know the team, where as I was under strict orders to keep my identity a secret, which meant not letting people in on my personal thoughts or feelings. I couldn't help but over hear all of them talking, asking Kaira if I was actually as scary as I looked. I frowned when I heard that. It was hard enough having Batman hate me, now I had the Team going to hate me as well. However I heard Kaira defending me, saying how I was just really shy. I smiled and was happy to think my best friend was proving me to be a good person. Next thing I know there are fingers on my neck tickling me. I began laughing histerically and fell off my chair and onto the floor. I am extremely sensitive, especially on my neck, stomach and feet. So tickling me left me red faced and gasping for air.
"STOP! PLEASE STOP!" I laughed out. The tickling ceased.
'Team, meet Consumer's own personal form of kryptonite! Tickling." Kaira laughed.
"Kaira! What the hell! Why did you do that! You know how much I hate being tickled!"
"Oh my god that was hilarious! Do it again!" Robin laughed.
"NO! If one of you even thinks of tickling me, I will punch you so hard you'll fly around the world 3 times!"
"Aww behind the death threats she's just a shy ticklish person." Kaira smiled.
"Kaira you know me well enough to know that under this hood is a death glare, right?"
"Yes and I fully accept it." She beamed.
"I'm going to destroy your My Little Pony collection." I mumbled.
"NO! Kill me and spare the ponies!" She exclaimed.
Once again we were recieving strange looks from the team and Kaira and I couldn't help but laugh. Most people took sometime to get used to our strange and slightly abusive friendship. I went to go and sit with the rest of the team after that, saying Batman be damned, I would get to know my new team mates and be friends with them.
"So how did you guys get your powers? Or discover them?" M'gann asked.
"Oh well, Consumer was with me when I found my power ring! Yeah her and I were walking through the woods one day on a hike and we saw this thing crash into the ground. We ran over to it and it turned out to be a spaceship! I opened it up and this alien was inside and gave me the power ring and the lantern. At first I was confused and I didn't understand what was going on. Then I thought to the Green Lantern stories I've heard of and been obsessed with and I began freaking out and immedietly began testing out my powers. Consumer was happy for me, since I had always dreamed of being a superhero, but I could tell she was a little jealous." Kaira stated.
"Oh please! Yeah I was jealous but who wouldn't be?"
"How did you discover your powers?" Superboy asked me.
"I wouldn't have discovered my powers if it wasn't for Kaira. Batman, Superman and Martian Manhunter came to ask Kaira about joining the Team. I was close enough to them at the time to absorb their powers. I randomlt began flying and since I didn't expect it, I ended up flying right into the wall next to kaira. It was then that Batman, Superman and Martian Manhunter tested out both of our powers and decided that we needed a little bit more training than we had in order to join the Team. So now 2 years later, here we are. Took while but now we have good enough training to join the Team." I smiled.
"You flew into a wall!" Artemis laughed.
I glared at her and went back to eating my cookies. Cookies. My other weakness. Even though they weren't the best tasting cookies, they were satisfying my hunger. Kaira and I both had an extreme fondness of cookies. God we were pissed when Batman and Alfred stole our cookies. God that was a terrible time. No cookies. I shudder at the thought.
"So why can't you tell us your secret identity?" Wally asked, mouth stuffed with cookies.
"I wouldn't be keeping my identity a secret if I told you that, now would I?" I laughed.
"Well come on! You can tell me." Wally smiled.
"Yeah right You can't trust him with his own life." Robin laughed.
"Dude!" Wally exclaimed.
I began laughing and I knew I was going to enjoy being a part of this team. We all sat around and joked for awhile and I found myself really enjoying their company. I watched as Batman walked into the kitchen and I saw Dick trying to hide a smile. i thought the relationship they had was sweet. I wish Batman and I had a realtionship like that, but I knew that would never happen.
"Green Lantern, Consumer. You're training needs to begin. As for the rest of you, you may go home or talk amongest yourselves." Batman said leaving with Kaira and I following him.
Kaira and I looked back, waving good bye to our team and smiling at each other. Batman led us through what seemed like endless halls, however they only seemed endless because we were so excited. Batman guided Kaira to a seperate room and I saw Hal Jordan in there waiting for her. My trip with Batman was spent in a silence I knew better than to break. All of a sudden Batman stopped walking causing me to crash into him.
"What the hell!" I yelled.
Batman sighed and dragged him into a room I assumed to be sound proof. "Amelia, your father knows where you are." He stated.
My body stiffened. "How!? He hasn't known where I was for 2 years! You promised me that he would never know!"
"It seems you moving here tipped him off. He told me so himself. However he also told me that he would not be coming to you, rather he would be waiting for you to come to him."
"What the hell is that supposed to mean? Why the hell didn't you kill him?" I yelled.
"You know that killing is against everything I stand for."
"So it doesn't matter that he could hurt Kaira or Dick? Or even me? Oh that's right I don't matter because for some reason I'm responsible for what my father has done! He is just going to keep on hurting people!" I yelled at Batman.
"I would never let him hurt any of you!" Batman exclaimed.
"Except for me. You've been letting him hurt me since I was born! You knew he had a child, yet you did nothing! Left me there and be tested on until he just gave me away and somebody decided to care about! Why can't you just admit you hate because I am his daughter! That you wish you'd never found me!" I yelled, tears threatening to spill over my eyes.
Batman looked away from me and walked out of the room. I felt my anger building up inside me and I sent all of that energy down my arm and into my fist as I punched the wall. I watched as the door opened and Wally and Kaira were standing by the doorway. I guess they saw the tears running down my cheeks or perhaps the dent in the wall, but Kaira ran over and hugged me. I saw Wally standing awkwardly by the door. I moved away from Kaira's embrace and brushed past Wally and walked towards my room. I went in there and lied down on my bed and pulled out my sketchbook and gegan drawing to try and calm myself down. I heard the door open and I saw Kaira standing there.
"You okay?" She asked.
"I'm fine now, go back to your training." I smiled at her.
"It's fine really! Hal said I could come take care of you!"
"I am not going to get in the way of your training! Go have fun." I smiled.
"Alright..." She said and left reluctantly.
I sat in my room for only a little while, until I heard a knock on my door. I got up off of my bed and answered the door and saw Fash, Barry Allen and Wally. They were both smiling down at me.
"Can I help you?" I asked.
"Yeah! Both of us thought that we could help train you together!" Wally smiled.
"Actually, Wally insisted upon it. Wouldn't stop until I let him come along." Flash whispered to me.
"DUDE!" Wally exclaimed, embaressed.
"That's cool." I smiled.
"Alright well change into your costume. Then meet Wally and I outside for training." Flash smiled before Wally and him sped off.
I walked over to my closet and pulled on the lever on the side to move the black wall away to reveal my costume hanging up. The shirt was a tank top and was black. My tights were orange and once again my boots were black. I wore gloves on my hands that had what appeared to be ribbon traveling up my arms connected to them, when really they charged up my energy and made it easier to redirect it. I put on my mask and smiled to myself and sped off to go and find Flash and Wally.
