Lets say you are in class. Or if you are an adult, your workplace. Nothing in particular is happening, and the anxiety comes with no warning. No warning at all.
Imagine the feeling when you miss a step on the stairs, and your stomach lurches. But the feeling doesn't go away. Your breath quickens, and you don't know what's happening. The more your peers stare at you, the more your anxiety strikes you. No one bothers to help. Or maybe they are too scared to help. They just stare. Your vision is hazy, and you have an overwhelming feeling that you are dying.
You try to tell yourself it will pass, but it isn't working. You want to scream, but you can't. You aren't getting enough air to make a sound. Not a sound.
You feel detached from yourself. Like you don't have control over what's happening right now. And you don't. You can't control the panic that has just overwhelmed you. You begin to feel like you are going to die right here. Right where you are sitting right now.
Will it ever go away?
