(Andrea's POV)
We ran, we ran as fast and as hard as we could. The hard cold ground pounding against all four of our paws, as rocks bit into our cut paws
'Faster, Andy, run faster' Andrew, my brother said to me, through our mind link
I pushed myself even harder, not looking back at the burning houses behind us. I ignored the pain that sprouted through my side, knowing that there was nothing to make it better right now
Four hours of running, Four hours of not stopping or eating, or sleeping, or resting
'Drew, I can't keep going' I said, breathing heavily
Blood ran down my side, causing my white and black fur to be both sticky and red
'Andrea, we don't have a choice. Unless you want to go back to that place...keep running' he told me
He too was tired
I thought back to the night before we left, ignoring the pain that sprouted through my body
*Flashback*
I was lying soundlessly on my bed, cuddling close to my pillow
The sound of his footsteps grew closer and closer to my door, loud and heavy
My breath hitched, as his loud voice boomed through my bedroom
This had happened for the past couple of weeks. The loud thumps, alerted me that he was coming
"Andrea" he yelled
My body started shaking, frightened of what was to come
"Andrea" he yelled again, slamming my door closed
Everyone knew not to get in his way. They knew not to try to stop him, they all knew better
The last time my brother tried to stop him, the man nearly beat him to death with a horse whip. I felt the leather material crack across my back, as my brother had bitten his tongue, to keep from crying out in pain
That was years ago
Now, it was a different story
I silently cried, as his hands went up my shirt, grabbing my skin, digging his claws into, my sides
*flashback over*
'Watch out' Andrew yelled, tackled me to the ground
With a harsh blow, we both went tumbling down to the ground
I whimpered, as Andrew managed to stretch his leg over on o my side, to keep the dirt and mug, from getting into the wound
'Ow' I groaned, trying to get up on my feet
'I'm so sorry' he said, licking my fur
I nuzzled my head in his neck and then took off running again, not stopping to look back at what had hit us
My paws hit the wet ground, yet still stung because glass and cuts that were engraved into my sensitive skin
'We are almost there' Andrew told me, pushing his legs just a bit harder
I too, quickened my pace even more
The border to a new pack was just a yard away and then we would be free
I could hear the footsteps getting closer from behind us, as if reminding me that if we didn't get past the border, they would take me to that place.
They would take me to those men again
The thought of every stepping a foot into that place repulsed me.I preferred to die, than to go back. I pushed myself even more, trying to forget about the glass and rocks, in my paws
'Almost.....there' Drew said, his black and white wolf, speeding up even more
Andrew and I might be twins, but our wolves were very different
Where his was black and white all over his huge body, mine was pure white, except for one black patch at the back of my left ear
In the distance, I heard something fly through the sky
When I looked up, it was too late
An arrow through my leg, made me stop immediately and made me change back into my human form
Andrew, skid against the ground, stopping to look back at me and quickly turned around and ran back to me
"No, go, run, they will kill you" I told him, pushing his furry head away for my leg
He growled at me and licked the open wound, trying to be careful not the mess with the arrow
'I won't leave you' he said, lying down on the ground 'can you get up?' he asked me
I wanted to say no, but he was risking his life for me, I had to try. I ignored the sound of the men getting closer and I lifted my body, grabbing a hold of the arrow and pulling it out, but not before howling in pain
Soon, I heard more howls, join me
It wasn't just 1 or 2, or even 20 or 30, it was hundreds of howls. Wolves that I wasn't acquainted with. I looked at Andrew, to see if he had heard it to. If he had, he wasn't telling me
'Lets go' Andrew nudged me, tilting his head up to make sure that I was holding onto him as I swung one leg over his back. I pulled my long hair over to the front of my chest, so it covered my breasts and then nodded
I held on tightly to him, as his ran
Before I could tell what was going on, I felt another arrow, go threw my shoulder
"Ahhhhhhh" I yelled, flying forward, almost falling off my brothers back
'No, just hold on a little more' he said, running in zigzags, threw the tall trees
We were so close to the other pack
I closed my eyes, feeling my stomach flip and flop
Then...we were across the border line
It wasn't until we were a few feet in, that I could finally take a breath
Unless the men following us wanted to start a war, they wouldn't cross into another alpha's territory
Andrew finally stopped, lying down on the ground and letting me tumble off his back
He turned back into his human form, running over to me
"Hey, hey, it's okay, I'm going to get you some help" he told me, grabbing a hold of the arrow in my shoulder and pulling it out quickly
I screeched out in pain, digging my nails into the damp soil
"Shhh, I'm so sorry" he whispered, kissing my cheek
He looked at my shoulder and frowned
"What? Wh-whats wrong?" I asked
"It's not healing...why isn't it healing" his eyes were wide and full of fear
Before I could tell him not to blame himself, we heard shuffling all around us
Andrew perked up, looking around us
I wanted to do the same, but I was to tired, all I could do was sleep. That's what I truly wanted. I wanted to close my eyes for eternity
I couldn't help myself, that was exactly what I did
