"Blaire." I heard Theo's voice. My eyes fluttered open as I saw the back door of his truck open as his hand rested on my leg. "Mason is almost here."
I sat up, pushing the blanket off my body.
"How long was I asleep?"
"An hour maybe." He said.
"Sorry, i've just been so tired lately."
"Come on." He said and held his hand out to help me out of the backseat of his truck.
I stood, running my fingers through my hair.
"He's almost here." Liam said, walking up behind Theo.
I shut the car door just as Mason pulled up in Lydia's car. Liam walked over and leaned into the window to talk to Mason.
"You feeling okay?"
"I'm fine." I smiled.
Theo and I walked behind Lydia's car, to the trunk. We began grabbing the blankets and sleeping bags.
"Should I come with you guys?" Mason asked.
"His friends shoot to kill." Theo said.
"Sorry Mason." I said. "But go home."
Theo and I walked inside the zoo. We set the stuff down and grabbed more. When we got it all Theo closed the trunk.
"Okay." I said. "Mason you get back home. We'll talk later."
"See you guys." He said and rolled the window up. Then he drove off.
"Come on." Liam said.
We all started towards the zoo, but I felt a sickening feeling and stopped.
"Blaire." Liam said. "Are you okay?"
"Fine, I just don't feel good." I nodded.
"Is it like pregnacy sickness?" Liam asked.
"It's called morning sickness." Theo said.
"Same thing." Liam argued back.
"Except it's called morning sickness."
My throat burned as I pulled my hair back.
"It really doesn't matter." Liam said. "It's caused by her pregnacy."
They continued to argue just as I threw up everything I had eaten. Theo ran over and pulled my hair out of my face.
"Gross." Liam said.
I grabbed a napkin out of the pocket of Theo's jacket that I was wearing. I wiped my mouth and sent Liam a glare.
"We need to get inside." Theo said.
I stood up straight as Theo slipped me an ice breaker.
"Thank you." I said, placing it on my tongue. We walked into the zoo and waited as Nolan and some men pulled up.
"Where are they?" One of the men asked.
"Inside the zoo." Nolan answered. "They're all here. It's not just the two of you, is it?"
"What do you mean 'just'?"
"It's not just a pack, okay? There's an Alpha, a Banshee and Angel. They're all here.
"I don't see all of them."
"I don't see anyone."
"I saw Theo, Blaire and Liam bringing a car full of food and supplies right here. There were at least seven sleeping bags, okay? They're here, they're all here!"
"It's just Nolan and two others guys." Liam turned to Theo and I. "This isn't gonna work."
"Where's the backup?" Theo asked.
"Shouldn't there be like twenty of them?" I asked.
"I mean, they only saw us, and they're not gonna believe Nolan."
"Okay." Theo said, a focused expression on his face. "Then they have to believe us."
"What?" I asked.
"Isn't that right?" Theo yelled.
"Why are you yelling?" Liam asked.
"You got a problem?" Theo continued to yell. "Oh that's right, you always have a problem!"
"Theo." I grabbed his arm.
"What the hell are you doing?" Liam asked.
"Shut up!" Theo yelled and punched my brother.
"Theo!" I yelled.
"You see that Scott? Little beta can't even take a punch." Theo glanced at me. "What do you think, Malia? What, you think he can take me?"
"Okay, I get it, but did you actually have to punch me?" Liam said.
Theo punched Liam again.
"Theo!" I yelled. "Stop!"
"No Blaire, you can't help your brother!"
Liam got up and pushed me aside as they went at each other.
"See what I mean Scott? He's only good in a fight when he's angry. So let's see just how angry he gets."
Liam growled and went at Theo, but Theo stopped him with a punch. Liam got back up and growled, blood trickling from his nose. They continued to punch and scratch each other.
"Are you done? Or should we keep going?" Liam asked.
"I think they're sold." Theo said.
"You ripped my t-shirt." Liam said.
"Yeah, you broke my nose." Theo replied. "Twice. It healed, you broke it again. Two times!"
Liam shrugged, then punched Theo's face again.
Theo let out a groan as he dropped. I giggled as I ran over and kneeled down next to him.
"Three times." Liam said.
I looked at Theo and smiled.
"You deserved those." I said.
"I know." He said. I wiped the blood from his nose with the sleave of his jacket.
His eyes traveled up and met mine. I smiled at the same time he did.
"Will you two kiss already, I'm sure Brett wouldn't care." Liam scoffed.
We both looked up at Liam and he glared at us.
"Come on." I said and stood, helping Theo up. "Let's split and look around."
Theo nodded. Liam walked off in one direction.
"Don't let them see you." Theo said. He kissed my temple and walked off.
I went in a different direction and checked, then met up with Theo and Liam.
"There's still three of them." Liam said.
"Don't blame me." Theo said. "You're the one that picked the abandoned zoo. The hell we doing in this place anyway?"
"Because it's like Myknonos."
"Like what?" Theo asked.
"The Greek Island." I said.
Theo looked at us confused.
"In the city they built these, long narrow, winding streets that all meet up with each other." I explained.
"Invaders would get lost in them like they were in a maze, trying to figure out a way to go." Liam said.
Theo looked between us.
"What?" Liam asked. "I liked History."
"I'm impressed." Theo said. "It's a good idea."
"Yeah, only if the invaders actually show up."
That's when we heard cars. I looked out the cage thing and saw as they got out.
"I think they just showed up." Theo said.
We continued to watch.
"Come on." Theo whispered to me.
He grabbed my hand, our fingers laced together. We began to walk away.
"Come on." Theo said to Liam. "We're supposed to be decoys not target practice. You still working on that anger?"
"I'm fine."Liam said.
"Well you can be angry at Nolan and stay alive. Come on."
"I got it." I said to Theo. "We'll catch up."
"I'm not leaving you."
"Go Theo." I said.
He looked at me but nodded. He walked off as I placed my hand on Liam's shoulder.
"What's going on?"
"Nothing Blaire." He said. He watched as the hunters down below spread out.
"Come on." He said and grabbed my wrist, pulling me behind him. We caught up with Theo and Liam dropped my arm.
"You good?" Theo asked him.
He ignored him and watched Nolan, looking around the corner carefully. Theo pulled me against the wall.
"If you keep looking, he's gonna see you." Theo told my brother. "Get back."
Theo pulled him back.
"I'm not dying out here because you want payback against some kid who kicked your ass, okay?"
"He hurt Blaire too." Liam said and looked back around the corner.
Theo grabbed ahold of Liam, pulling him back. I followed after.
"Let go." Liam said.
"Calm down!" Theo replied.
"I said let go!" Liam flashed his beta eyes.
"Guys." I said and grabbed ahold of both their wrists. "Take a breath."
"What's going on with you?" Theo asked him. "It can't just be Nolan, something around here is triggering you."
"I'm fine."
"What is it? The hunters? You don't like cages, scared of heights?"
"I said I'm fine."
I felt myself get pulled back.
"They're up here!" Nolan yelled, his arm placed securly around my neck.
"Nolan." I said. "What are you doing?"
"I have to." He whispered into my ear.
Liam growled and ran after Nolan, tackling him as Nolan pulled me down with them. I landed on my back, my head hitting the ground very hard.
I groaned at the pain. Someone pulled me up, placing their arm around my throat again.
"Nolan." I said. "You don't have to be like them."
Liam got up and growled, Nolan held the weapon to point at Liam.
"She wants me to kill you. She'll kill me if I don't."
"Nolan, listen to me." I said. "Please don't do this."
A tear rolled down my face.
"What do you care, you can't die." He said, his lips against my ear.
"I care because I can't watch anyone else die." I said. "I told you what happened with Brett, please don't kill my brother and friends too."
Liam growled and ran at Nolan. He dropped the gun and realesed my neck as Liam slammed him against the wall. He lifted up his fist, and began to punch the wall next to Nolan's face.
"Liam." I said and tried to grab his arm, but he pushed me back. Liam opened his fist and was about to scratch him but Theo appeared and punched him.
"Are you okay?" I asked Nolan, grabbing his face.
"You're seriously asking if he's okay, after he just tried to kill your brother."
"He's a scared kid Theo." I said.
Nolan looked up at me, "I'm sorry, I just didn't want her to kill me."
"Nolan, listen to me." I said. "We are not the enemy. We are not the ones you should be afraid of."
Theo snatched my arm and pulled me back.
"Run." He said to Nolan.
Nolan pushed himself to his feet. He grabbed the weapon and ran off.
"What the hell was that?" Theo asked me.
"He's scared Theo." I said. "Monroe and Gerard are scaring him."
"Why do you keep defending him?" He asked.
"Because he reminds me of a younger Liam!" I yelled.
"He is one of them."
I shook my head, "by force."
"We need to go." He said and picked up the unconsious Liam.
He began walking to his truck, I followed behind. He laid Liam down in the back seat as I sat in the passengar seat.
Theo got Liam settled and got in the drivers seat. He started up his truck and took off. The both of us stayed quiet. I leaned my head against the window as the sun began to set.
I watched as the sky was painted a pretty mix between Orange, Pink and Red, with a little bit of blue.
"It's pretty." Theo said.
"Yeah." I replied.
We fell silent again as my mind wandered, but it came to a memory of Brett.
On his last birthday, I'd taken him out to eat and afterwards we went to the park. It was right when the sun was starting to set. We sat on a bench and watched as nature worked its wonders.
"It's beautiful." He had whispered in my ear.
"It's incredible." I said back.
"I can only think one thing more incredibly beautiful than this."
"And what's that?" I had smiled up at him.
"You." He said and placed his lips on mine.
I came back to reality as I looked over at Theo, focused on the road. His left hand gripped the wheel as his right hand rested on the center consol. I smiled as I slipped my hand into his. He looked over at me and smiled.
I reached over and grabbed the wheel, pulling the truck over.
"What are you doing?" He asked.
"Pulling over." I said and he stopped the car.
"Why?" He asked.
"Because." I said. "I want to watch it."
"The sunset?"
I bit my lip and nodded, "Come on."
I pushed the car door open and got out. Theo did the same and walked around the side.
"Can I ask why you want to do this all of a sudden?"
"Because. All of our memories so far are of us fighting or trying to kill an enemy." I said. "I want a good memory."
He smiled at me as I admired his facial features.
"What?" He asked.
I showed a smile as I slipped my arms around his neck and kissed him. He placed his hands on my hips as he pulled me closer. We pulled apart and smiled.
"Never thought I'd say this, but Theo." I said. "I might actually love you."
