Hello! This is a collection of all the author's notes I had at the end of each chapter. As I edit the book, I am removing these ANs from the chapters themselves, as unless you were reading as I uploaded they don't make much sense. Some of the dates for each chapter might be inaccurate, but that's because I half-edited a few things as I wrote the first draft on random days. I am putting them here, though, in case anyone was interested in looking at them again, but mainly for me to re-read as I am a sentimental mess. Woo!

1 - Changing Faces (2nd July 2016)
Well, that was my first attempted chapter of a fanfiction. How was it? I promise there'll be more stuff happening later, but for now I'm just trying to sort the scene out in my mind for how things have changed since the Battle. - KM
2 - Nightmares, Daydreams (3rd July 2016)
Well, that was a very long chapter! (Edit: oh honey, you have no idea what a long chapter is) I am glad I got that one done, though. I always thought that the characters would have changed more as a result of the Battle and all the deaths - they are just kids! I think Hermione's dreams have stopped her from developing into a confident person as she is terrified of what happened at Malfoy Manor, and desperately wants things to be how they were before it all changed. I'll try to update again in the next week or so. - KM
3 - Attention-Seeker's Detention (7th July 2016)
Well that was another long chapter. Sorry for the lack of Dramione action so far, but I'm trying to ease their relationship along carefully. I just don't feel it's realistic for them to leap into each other's arms immediately, and I think it would take a while for the trust to form. Should I keep the chapters this sort of length, or make them shorter? Anyway, I'll try to update again soon. - KM
4 - Psychologic (14th July 2016)
Another long chapter, and I'm sorry it took longer to upload. I was having problems with my keyboard, and I couldn't start until Tuesday. Anyway, I'm going to start shifting the plot on more soon as it's quite slow-going at this point, but I'll continue it soon. - KM
5 - Time Out (17th July 2016)
I'm trying to get their relationship going a little more, as I want the Dramione stuff to start coming in soon. All the same, I enjoy just imagining what Hogwarts will be like now that everything's changed. I'll probably update again in the next few days. - KM
6 - Wounds and Duty (6th August 2016)
Well, that was a hard chapter to write. I had got so far into it when Wattpad crashed on me and I had to re-write the whole scene in the Tower! Their relationship is progressing into trust, and they will both develop more later on. I'm now in my summer holidays so I'll try to update more frequently, but I'm going abroad for two weeks so I may not write for a while when that happens. - KM
7 - Ink Stains (17th August 2016)
Sorry that took such a long time to upload. I have been on holiday for the last fortnight and had it partially written up before I went into lazy pre-holiday mode and told myself I could finish it when I got back. As a result I can't really remember what I properly had in mind for this chapter, but I know I got the gist of it pretty much right. I will go back to my normal uploading schedule - every 3-7 days - and I hope you enjoyed that chapter. - KM
8 - Pain and Suffering (20th August 2016)
That was a slightly different chapter to how I had planned for it to go. Oh well! I got a copy of Harry Potter and the Cursed Child today... I was finished by 4pm this afternoon, and I was trying to tell my family how amazing it was without spoiling anything. It's so good!! I'll try to update again soon, so I'll see you then. - KM

9 - Support (11th September 2016)

Apologies for such a long wait between uploads. I've been back at school for the last four weeks and I've been spending most of my time outside of schoolwork trying to relax, and all-but abandoning Wattpad. There you go, then! I nearly wrote in the Support Group's first session in this chapter, but thought it deserved it's own one as this one's quite long by itself. I had to do some research on the Weird Sisters, and was astounded at how in-depth the results I got were for such a minor role in the franchise! 14 - Relaxing, Thinking (28th December 2016)
Sorry I took so long to get another part up. I don't really have an excuse, it's just that I'm a lazy writer and need to be more committed to this story. (Edit: that's more realistic. 15 - Calming A Storm (28th December 2016)
I wasn't planning to update for a little while longer, but this morning I woke up to a whole load of votes and comments from a reader (who I can't currently tag, sorry). That really put me in a great mood, so I thought I'd update straight away because it's really motivating hearing when people like something you do. 18 - Darkness Unfolding (31st January 2017)
OK, that wasn't as angsty as I thought it would turn out. It's all going to go Horribly Wrong soon, I promise. I tried not to make it too Christmassy, because I didn't want to make people feel too festive now it's nearly February. I just wanted to say thank-you to all the people who have started following me since I posted the last chapter. I know many more accounts have many more followers than me, but it feels so lovely to see a little name pop up knowing they want to see more of my stories. I've now got more people following me than I do hearing me when I speak in class, which puts it into perspective for me. Anyway, sorry for rambling. 21 - Broken China (20th February 2017)
That was very hard to write. I did enjoy it, though, because irrational Hermione is a very interesting person. She's such a level-headed, logical character that her outbursts make me wonder how much it takes to truly break a person. Anyway, enough of me and my sadism. 23 - Cracks (1st March 2017)
I'm sorry. I bathe in human despair, that's all. Nah, joking. That was so hard to get right, and I hope I portrayed that in a vaguely realistic way. I'm fortunate in that I've never had a close family relative die, so I haven't really experienced that strength of emotion. I've been working off how I think it would feel, so sorry if I got it wildly wrong. Hope you appreciated that, and I'll see you next update. - KM
24 - Splinters (8th March 2017)
He he he, I love sad stuff. Sorry it's got so dark and depressing recently, I can only promise it gets darker for a while. There will be light, I can assure you. 25 - Make or Break (15th March 2017)
You can all guess what will happen in the next chapter, and I want to be able to tell you that you are wrong. But you aren't. Hermione is going to try to kill herself. I will make you one promise of my own, though. I am trying to make it all seem as dark as possible, as real as possible, to show people that it gets better. Because I can promise, in this story and in life, that it all gets better. There is sunshine behind every cloud, and sometimes you do have to wait for the storm to pass.Also, I am not trying to glorify any of this. All of the things Hermione has thought and is going to do are not romantic versions of reality. They are the cold truth that sometimes things go wrong, and it all feels awful. But hang in there, because there will be a happy ending. If it's not happy, it's not the end, and that is my promise to you. - KM

26 - Leap Of Faith (17th March 2017)
He he, I love updating when you don't expect one so soon, particularly such a long and important chapter. That was so tiring to write! I am emotionally spent now. I hope you're all pleased I didn't kill Hermione, and I hope you found that as exciting to read as I found it to write. I do hope you enjoyed that, as that was the most angsty it's going to get now. The storm has calmed, and although it won't be completely plain sailing it will be a lot sunnier from here on in. 27 - Light Breaths (21st March 2017)
I was going to make that longer, but I thought I'd leave it there so I can continue next chapter. Hope you found it nice being out of the gloom and despair for a while, and seeing more stuff from Draco's perspective. It was interesting writing from his viewpoint instead. 28 - Fresh Air (30th March 2017)
Sorry I was a bit later than normal uploading, I've had homework and revision to do so it slipped my mind. Hope it was good enough, I didn't feel like this necessarily turned out as the chapter I wanted. I'm trying to be realistic with Hermione's recovery, so as much as I wish she could be happy straight away it's not going to be that easy for her. Anyway, they've finally kissed properly! About time too, I must say. In my head, Draco always wants things just how he imagined them so that wonderfully romantic little "date" was totally necessary, and Hermione's so sensible she would have to tease him about it. 29 - Facing Friendly (14th April 2017)
Hello again! Sorry it has been a while since the last update. I was on holiday, and then I was staying at my friend's house, so at least there is a legitimate excuse this time! Anyway, I hope you enjoyed that. I'm enjoying writing at the moment, and I think that's clear with the length of these chapters. In case you were wondering, I aim to make each one 1500-2000 words long, but I end up writing nearly 3000 more often. This chapter was 3000 words, as an example. 30 - Returns (19th April 2017)
That was a long chapter! Congrats if you made it to the end without passing out! I wrote two versions for this chapter; one where Hermione talked with Ron quietly and there was little conflict, and one where Ron and Draco fought before agreeing to try again. I went with the latter in the end because I felt it was more real for their characters and I felt it would be more interesting to read as well. 31 - Careful Steps (24th April 2017)
Well, I wrote this on the request of a reader (sorry I can't tag you, my computer is odd) but I have to say I think the pressure of wanting to please is a good thing when it comes to encouraging me. 32 - Folded Hands (6th May 2017)
That was a very long chapter, and I hope that makes up for the fact that it's so late! I've had a hectic week - coming back from an international school trip, performing in my school concert and catching up on homework in between - so apologies for that. I was thinking for a long time about whether Hermione having magical relatives was plausible given the "rules" JK Rowling supplied, so I hope it's plausible enough. I'd toyed with the idea long enough, and I think she deserves some solidarity with her family seeing as it's so broken now! I wanted to end the chapter on a more happy note seeing as it's such a heavy topic, funerals! I also apologise if I misrepresented how funerals work. I'm blessed in that I've never had to attend one, so I'm really sorry if I royally screwed up on that one.
[Now for a little bit of a rant, sorry.] I just wanted to say something that I only thought of recently. I promise that I will never, ever have vote or comment goals on any of my works. I was reading a fanfiction the other day and was really annoyed because the author would only post a new chapter each time the goal was reached, and I think it's really unfair. Votes and comments are the ways readers show they liked or noticed something, not as a way to ensure they are able to continue reading a story. I only say this because I find it annoying and I want to reassure my loyal readers that I will never do that. 33 - Hourglasses and Quidditch Cups (9th May 2017)

34 - Flipping Pages (16th May 2017)
I found it interesting thinking about the possible careers the characters would have. Ginny's and Luna's were obviously based on "fact" (Edit: pfff call it canon, we all know that's what it is), but I had to make up Dean's and Seamus' because there were no suggestions online. What do you make of them? Also, sorry Hermione is still a mess. I'm trying to portray her recovery more realistically than other fics I've found, so that's why she isn't magically healed because she now has a boyfriend. And speaking of revision for NEWTs, guess who ought to be revising for mock GCSEs?! It's me. I'm stressed. Anyways, hope you liked this chapter. The updates are likely to be less prolific from hereon in, as I've got a fortnight mock GCSEs in three weeks and I'll be busy revising for those, as well as all sorts of crazy stuff my friends have planned for next week's half-term holiday. 36 - Updraft (30th May 2017)
I woke up to a lovely message from one of my first ever followers - who I can't currently tag but they'll know who they are - which completely made my morning. I'm not the kind of author who puts goals or targets on my works because I don't do this for any sort of reward, but as a general rule I'm happy when I receive praise, and happy writers write more. Hint hint. I always try to update once a week anyway, but I do like to please my regular readers by giving you more chapters randomly. As I said last week, however, I am entering exam period. Hooray. I'm taking my mock GCSEs, so for the next five weeks I will probably be frantically revising the night before my exams. I will try to get chapters out, but they will almost certainly be in the second half of the week and will probably be shorter/poorer quality. 37 - Soft Whispers, Soft Sheets (5th June 2017)
Well, that was very different! I've never tried writing (almost) smut before, and that was difficult enough to write as it was. I am only 15, and I've never even kissed anyone, so that was probably very cringey and inaccurate. Apologies. I thought it would be very interesting to switch up the dynamics between Hermione and Draco a bit, mainly because I've missed making things a little angsty between them. Also, I've never read any fanfics where consent or the right to say no play a part in smutty scenes, let alone one where the man is the one to change his mind. I had intended for one of them to not want to continue and thought that Draco would be far more realistic, certainly in this book. I thought it was interesting, anyway. 38 - Doodled-On Parchment (13th June 2017)
I thought this would be an interesting chapter, more as a way for you to see my versions of Draco and Hermione. I mainly wanted to write this as in every single Dramione fic I've read, Draco has well-defined muscles and Hermione has an hour-glass figure. This annoys me! They're not meant to have stereotypically attractive bodies! I always saw them as being far more average, and I wanted to show that because I think it's important. They love each other because they're both deserving people, not for their bodies. Anyway, hope you enjoyed that and I'll see you next update. -KM
39 - Daisy Chains (23rd June 2017)
I'm sorry this chapter was so short and rambling. I've had mock exams for the past 2 weeks, and I've got another 2 ahead, so that's my excuse. It's also been screwing with my head, so I've not been in the right place mentally to write much. In other news, however, I have planned the final *gasp!* chapters of the book! It will be 50 chapters long, so another 11 after this one, and then I'll do a long author's note/thanks thingy at the end too. It will definitely be finished by the end of the year, in any case. 40 - Sharing Space (26th June 2017)
There you go, I'm on time this week! My mocks are all but at an end now. I have two more this week, but I don't need to revise for them, and there's one more on Monday/Tuesday next week, so it should mean I'm back to my unreliably reliable self pretty soon. For some reason I'm not happy with the structure of this chapter, but I can't figure out what it is I dislike about it so I'm going to stick with how it is anyway. 41 - Owl Feathers (3rd July 2017)
There you go! That's the scene set for the final big plotpoint of this story. Bit of a different one, and I hope it'll be interesting. It probably won't be that well-written as I have no law expertise and have never been in court, but I can claim some artistic license as it is a magical court rather than a Muggle one. My mock exams are over, so for the next three weeks at least the updates should be on time - but then it's my summer holidays, and I'm away a lot so it will vary more. In other news, I've been writing this book for more than a year now! I started it on July 2nd 2016, and I'm so pleased with how far it's come, in terms of characters, readers and my own quality of writing. As well as that, this will probably be the quickest I've ever finished a writing project. I shan't speak too soon, though, or I'll curse my good timings. 42 - Verdicts Considered (10th July 2017)
Sorry for the cliffhanger, dear readers, but the final scene in the courtroom will be in the next update instead. I'm being mean, I'm sorry! Mind you, this is already 4,000 words long so I expect you're glad to have a break. This was very interesting to write, and I'm sorry for any legal inconsistencies. I have no knowledge of how the British legal system works, let alone the magical one in the 1990s. 43 - Justice (17th July 2017)
I've nearly finished at school for the year! Hooray! In theory, that should mean more time for writing, right?! Wrong. I am on two holidays - three weeks abroad with a one-week break in between them, and as a result my updates will be irregular again. Apologies in advance! I will write the necessary chapters ahead of time, and will try to upload them from my tablet, as I won't be taking my laptop with me. If it all goes pear-shaped, then I am sorry. 44 - Hallowed Halls (24th July 2017)
I wasn't entirely happy with this chapter for some reason. I feel like I didn't quite get the mood right, or something, but I can't work out exactly what it is that makes me unsatisfied. In other news, my summer holidays are only a day away - tomorrow is my last day of Year 10, and I go on holiday this Sunday! I will be away until next Saturday, so I will have to write next week's chapter entirely in advance and probably the week after that one's as well. There might end up being an issue with uploading from my tablet, as I won't be bringing my laptop with me, so if it all goes wrong then rest assured I'm not dead, I'm just having a nice time away from home. 45 - Quills and Questions (31st July 2017)
That was a slightly longer chapter than normal, so apologies for the extra reading you had to do. But I'm on holiday right now! Yay! I've written this AN in advance as well as the chapter, so I don't know if I'm having a good time, but at this point I'm looking forward to it. Only 5 more chapters left of this book, and I'm still feeling a little bit in denial about the whole thing. But if you missed my message (you might well have done if you don't follow me), then I will say now that there will be a sequel to 'Scars That Heal' once this is finished! I hope this is good news, because I'm really enjoying writing about these characters and I'd love for you to share their story of what happens beyond Hogwarts with me. 46 - Ticking Hands (7th August 2017)
I liked writing that chapter. It seemed like quite a sweet one, and I'm pleased with it considering I wrote it all in one day!! The next two chapters will be written in advance, as I am going on holiday for a fortnight from this Sunday. My holiday last week in Norway was very nice, but I am glad I have this week at home. 47 - Clover Patches (14th August 2017)
That was a kind of filler chapter really. I wasn't sure about the things regarding Ilvermorny, but since we still don't know much about it I shall claim artistic license if it is later proved incorrect. The idea of Quidditch informals was a fun one I had thought of a while back, and it seemed to fit perfectly with the newfound spare time they all have. And this is making me miss my friends because I haven't seen them in a while! This chapter was written in advance, as was the next one, as I am currently on holiday. 48 - Flung Open Windows (21st August 2017)
That was so nice to write! I spend so long thinking about having my first house/apartment, it's ridiculous. Also, all the jobs and things at the start were based off canon (Edit: see, I've embraced the terms of fan culture. That's character development right there) where it was available (and I liked it) and I made up the rest with how I thought it would fit the characters. I have no idea how house-buying processes work, and the same with job applications, as I am a mere child, but I hope they were vaguely accurate. I am still on holiday, so this was written in advance with little editing, and the chapter next week may be late as I am travelling all day on Monday. Only two more chapters left of this story!! 49 - Crumpled Pages (31st August 2017)
Sorry this update is a little late - I am recovering from my holiday and multiple homeworks - but I hope you liked it. As I am about to start my final year at secondary school, and will be taking my GCSEs next year, this really resonated with me as a naturally nervous student. Anyways, that was the penultimate chapter of this book. Next week will be the final one, and I hope you're looking forward to it, because I certainly am. I will also be writing an author's note, about the book and with some acknowledgments too, but those aren't really a continuation of the plot. I'm gonna miss writing this! 50 - Old Endings, New Beginnings (4th September 2017)
Thank you very much for sticking with me until the final chapter of this book. I will not say too much now, but I am so happy that I have written an entire book without giving up on it, and have been able to share it with all of you. I'm so happy! I have already announced that there will be a sequel to this at some point (stay tuned for more details on that), but for now I will begin the arduous task of editing this beast.
