Riker's POV
I went down stairs. Mom and Dad went to town with Tate's parents. So it was just us kids. "Damn Riker, sex hair much?" Rocky asked. "No dude it sleep hair." I defended. He looked at Rydel. They smirked to each other. Rydel walked to Ross. "Here's the thing buddy." she said and ran her hand through Ross hair and chenched her fist in it. "This is sex hair. Cause the girl does what I did. If guys don't fix their hair every one knows." she said calmly brushing Ross' hair back down fixing it perfect. "You guys are crazy." I rolled my eyes and went back up to my room. I looked at myself in the mirror. I honestly don't know what I was thinking. We're from different sides of the tracks. "I can't." I said to myself. I put on my white shirt and favorite self torn jeans. I put my work hat on and went to get my boots then out the door. I walked to Baby's pin. I changed her bandage, she got scraped trying to get me in the barn quick. "Thank you Baby girl." I kissed her head. "I love you Baby." I said petting her. She nayed and it sounded like I love you. I smiled. "I wish things where different." I talked as if she understood. "If she wasn't a Cali girl...Maybe things would be different. But I don't know if last night was just a thing she does. Y'know I have trust issues." I said as if she was a person, she nodded. "I don't wanna get hurt again. That's exactly what Rachel did to me." I said. She tilted her head. "You never met her." I said. "But I was in love with her and she cheeted on me with that ass hole." I said. she even shook her head disappointed. "Okay I'll ask you. You give the best advice." I said and grabbed a rep apple and a green apple, she isn't a fan of either one so maybe this'll work. "Okay. Red is: Give Tate and I a chance or Green: Don't Date her." I said. She looked at both. Then she reached and ate... "The red one." I smiled. "You aren't jus sayin that cause you know its what I wanna hear right?" I asked she shook her head no. I smiled. "Aw your the best I hugged her. "I'll be back for lunch." I kissed her head and went inside. "Hey Riker you show Tate how Lynch Men race?" Rocky said. I smiled. "Lets do it." I said. We all went to the barn and saddled our horses. I was on Baby, Rocky was on Kit, Ross was on Beauty, Ryland was on Delilah and Ratliff brought Chance over. We lined up and took our shirts off and got on our horses. Rydel fired my gun as a 'go' when we did. We flew out of the barn. Rocky took the lead but I pushed ahead. We had to loop back to the barn. I was a head but on the turn my stomach sank. Suddenly I slowed down. "Boys the race is over go go go!!!" I screamed for all of them to hear. They took off as guns shot. I suddenly felt extreme pain. and my name being screamed.
Tate's POV
"RIKER!!!" I screamed. He was shot. He fell off Baby. I started to run to him. But as Ryland rode in he stopped me. He got off Delilah and held me back telling me to stop. Rocky rode back to Riker, Baby ran in the barn. I was crying, trying to Ryland to let go of me but I wasn't in my right mind. I know I didn't need to see him like that.
Riker's POV
"Ohmygod." I grit my teeth. He shot me in the side. Blood was everywhere. "Riker com'on stay with me." Rocky said worried. We're miles from a hospital. They called 911 anyway. I was in tears, blood was flowing out of me, pain and worry filled my mind. "Rocky g-go away." I said. "No." he said. "Look at me!" I pulled him by his shirt to me. I looked in his eyes. "If I die I don't want this in your mind. Now get outta here." I said. He looked at me. "Now!" I yelled that echoed through the vally. He stood up. "I'm sorry Riker." he knelt back down wrapping my torso in a shirt. I just laid there. "Rocky?" I asked fading away. "Yeah Riker?" "T-Tell everyone that love them." I said closing my eyes. "No don't you talk like that. Don't you say your goodbyes." Rocky said. "Rocky I'm as good as gone." I said. Laying down all the way. "No Riker stop." He said. I herd the sirens and blacked out.
