Catastrophe. That is war. A circle of punch against punch until someone shows some humility and gives up, or one side overpowers the other. It's rather like young children unable to solve the problem at hand. However, without war, the world wouldn't be a better place. With politics and debate, the world is still a hellhole.

                                                                                                               -Henmark Relmis Ken.

The storm of bullets over my head makes my ears ring so hard that I can't hear my partner beside me. I try to read his lips to the best of my abilitys, but the fog in the air and mud on his face makes it hard to see him. I think he is telling me to move forward. I just looked at him. And he looked at me for a moment, but then he punches me in the jaw and yells so i can hear him over the blazing sounds of war. Aparently he did tell me to move forward, though im not sure if he used the same kind of vocabulary, like words that start with A, and F.

I must be going deff, mabie I just blacked out. I had trained for years in the military so that I would be able hear over the noise of a C-44 nuclear blast. When I heard him this time, no hesitation. The whole miss-instruction thing, that was a first, never to happen again. I clenched my weapon on charged forward. My partner did the same. We were heading for the safe zone on our side. The human side was on the left side of the battlefeild. The safe zone was made up of hundreds of underground hidden bunkers. Not large, But about the side of a common bar. Which technically, they were bars.

We shot down and mowed through all of the lizard faced man like silver bastards who came in our way. Clearly we were shot but while running, I didn't feel it. "Just a little farther" my partner told me. Then I heard a large and deep sound. Almost like a growl, yet, mechanicle. It was so loud I definetly wasn't the only one who heard it. I couldn't see anything within five feet in this fog. Then artifishal light, peirced through the fog like a flame in a dark room. Like a searchlight, it rolled around the area, until it saw us. Then it began to light up.

The entire body of the mechanicle beast had lights spread out on it. It was all robotic, most likely manually operated. It had a red, probably glass head. Arms and legs were large and thick metal so that bullets couldn't penetrate. The only spots that could possibly be damaged were the head, which may be attackable if it were glass, or the middle area which was thin and, with explosive blasts, could separate the legs from the upper body.

My partner probably had the same idea, because he was already on his comunicator calling for main base. We would need explosive missiles for this threat, which the aircrafts of main base had. "Head to safe zone four" he said to me in such a soft voice that starled me. "What about that?" I responded with confusion in my voice. He answerd calmly yet with more of his natural tangy voice, "we couldn't damage that, leave it to the birds". So I noded slightly and sniffed. It was very cold.

Soon enough we were at the doors to safe zone four. I had a strong feeling of acomplishment. Out of the 22% of troops that made it, our team was one of them. Against Skirmscreams, I never expected to see our flag again. I found a table in the corner. There was an elete class soldier sitting there. My partner sat with his captain class schoolmates i would guess. He acted as though he knew them. Elete was one class lower then mine, Nova, but I don't see the difference. People are people.

He didn't talk much but his name was Carter, I got that much out of him. What we did talk about he only used short sentenses. I began to get tired of trying so I leaned back and just relaxed. Just then he asked for my name. Now he talks, once im cofortable I thought. I stood up on my bench and answerd. "My name is Alfred. Well, at least thats the name I go by, my names much longer but I just use my middle name".

I could hear my parter talking about my little 'mishap' on the battlefeild. I began to get frustrated with him. I could feel the glass in my hand begin to shake as if were about to shatter. My other hand was clentched so hard that blood began to rush down my hand. Carter must have noticed because he stretched his hand across the table in front of me. I looked at him and he shook his head.

Just then, out of literaly nowhere, I heard another mechanicle roar. So simular that my heart stoped. It wasn't just like before, It was exactly the same noice as before. The sound made a couple people fall off their benches. How strong was that things armor? "What in the name of bloody hell was that?" Carter blurted out. I was the first one to run up the stairs to the door. I hesitated to open it. Then I breathed three times, and swung the door open. Then I woke up.

I must have dosed off in My grandfathers study. I looked at the book in my hands. It was tittled: Alfred's War Journal. I must have read it before I dosed off. I was in the perspective of my old grandfather. I wiped the drool from my mouth and scubed my eyes. I was still very tired. Then I heard somthing that sounded so abnormal that it scared me. Almost like a shreiking animal, the sound came from downstairs. My heart is pounding so hard that I can feel the chair moving in sink with each beat. What the hell is going on.
