Kiara's pov
I held my breath as they finally emerged with guns pointed at us. I quickly looked down to hide my eyes. They're twenty of them in total.
I cursed underneath my breath, my plan failing. They were not supposed to see me. My plan was to flee before we even reach the border.
I could feel everyone tense under their heated gazes. They stopped in front of us, guns still aiming at our heads. The soldier in charge took one step more than the others, a device in his hand.
"Is any one of you bitten?" His deep voice, rumbled.
Namjoon stood straight, "No, sir"
The soldier hummed, "Where are you from?"
"We're from Seoul, sir" Namjoon replied again, his voice never wavering
The soldier observed each and one of us before going to Hareum who was on the left. He positioned the device in front of her face before it scanned her. After a few minutes the device popped up a hologram of her result. Negative.
He then went to Yoongi who was beside her and repeated the process. I squeezed, Taehyung's hand.
I could feel him tensing. The soldier was coming nearer to me, making me hold my breath once more.
I closed my eyes and suddenly felt light headed. I sensed the soldiers presence in front of Taehyung. He scanned his face and once again, it showed negative.
He stopped in front of me, his figure towering over my slumped form, "Look up" He demanded
I tensed furthermore, "Sir—"
"Look Up" He repeated, his tone harsh
I could feel Namjoon step in, "Sir, our friend has a condition"
I could feel the soldier's annoyance, "What's the relevance of her condition to the situation?"
Namjoon bit his lip in hesitance, "She's different, sir"
The soldier eyed Namjoon, "So what? Get to the point young man, you're testing my patience" He snapped
"She's bitten but still has her humanity intact" Taehyung interjected, his hand squeezing mine, tighter.
The sounds of the guns pointing at me made me stiffen. I could feel the soldier's heated gaze.
"Look at me" His feel voice sent shivers done my spine.
"Sir she's—"
A rough hand gripped my chin and made me look up. My eyes widening in shock.
"Impossible" He whispered
"Sir, she's not one of them. She is a kind woman and she's not a cannibal. We wish for you to be considerate and let her come with us" Namjoon explained
The soldier went quiet, "I thought she was the only one" All of the girls froze
The soldier then let out a small laugh, then a chuckle, then he was full in laughing, "I can't believe this!" His eyes, showed joy
"Run, Kiara" Mina spat, her eyes never leaving the man
"W-wha—"
"Run!" She yelled before tackling the man. The girls then aimed at the other soldiers. I stayed rooted in my spot, still unable to comprehend what was happening.
Mina kicked him in the shin but the soldier was quick to grab her foot and unbalance her. She was about to aim her gun at his head when he stomped on her jaw with force.
"Mina!"
He pulled her hair up and aimed his pistol at her head. Hara growled at the man in pure hatred.
"Let her go" She spat
The man chuckled, "You're in no place to command me, girl"
We all eyed the gun that he was aiming at her head. He spat in the side with a tinge of blood in his spit.
"Drop all of your weapons" He instructed
"Over my dead bo—"
"If not then I'll just puncture her head with a bullet" He spat, his eyes showing amusement at the girls restraint
"You bastard!" Chaeyong yelled, her hands trembling
He smirked, "Do it or she dies"
Hara clenched her jaw before dropping her gun. We all followed suit and watched how the soldiers eyed our movements.
"Now, kick it away" He ordered
He smirked once he saw that we followed him. "Good job, now you" His eyes met mine
"Come with us"
Taehyung stepped in front of me, "You'll ne—"
"I'm not talking to you, boy" His eyes narrowed at Taehyung
Taehyung glared at him, his hands trembling in fury. I glanced at everyone and I could see helplessness in their figures.
I looked down on my shoes and bit my lip. It's all my fault.
"If you think that we'll just let you have Kiara then you're wrong. Over my dead body" He spat
The soldier chuckled, "Interesting"
Taehyung was about to say something but I tugged in his sleeve. He looked down on me and his eyes immediately softened. I shook my head,
"Kiara, is it?" The soldier called out
I locked eyes with him, "Yes"
He smiled, "You will come to the haven along with your friends but you will be in a different floor and room. We believe that your rarity can produce a cure"
My eyes widened, "Don't believe him, Kiara" Hyuna growled
"If you don't then we'd just kill all of your friends right here, right now and forcefully take you with us" He added, his eyes glinting in mischief
"So? What's your decision?"
I glanced at Hyuna and she seemed troubled. Taehyung gripped my hand tighter,
"I'll come"
"Kiara!"
"No!"
I looked at Taehyung, "It's okay. If I agree then I can come back to the haven and meet your parents" His eyes softened
"But—"
"I thought this is what you wanted?"
His eyes flickered, "That was before they had a gun pointed in Mina's head. The girls were also very hesitant, I only noticed this now. What if you'll end up like her, Kiara? I can't lose you" He cupped my cheeks
I smiled fondly at him, "You won't"
He gazed deeply into my eyes, "I'll also be at the haven. The only difference is I'm going to be in a different floor and room from the rest of you. And plus, you heard what he said," I glanced at the soldier
"I might be the cure"
"And so was Leila but she was killed wasn't she?" His eyes hardened

"They'll still take me even if I say no" I pointed out. He went silent, his mind raking for a comeback.
I sighed, "Taehyung.." I cupped his cheeks
His eyes snapped back to mine. He, along with the others were still hesitant but we're lacking options. This is the only way for them to be safe. The cold, uncaring me is now gone and I'm now the woman who is concerned of their safety.
"Trust me on this, okay?" I asked him,
His eyebrows furrowed, "Kiara—" I quickly pecked his lips, cutting him off
"I won't let them kill me" I whispered softly. I smiled at him in assurance.
He sighed, his shoulders slumping in defeat. The soldier seemed to be entertained, "Kiara" He sang
I gulped and let go of Taehyung's hand, walking towards the man. Before I could take another step, I was pulled back and a soft lip, pressed against mine.
I immediately closed my eyes and wrapped my hands around his neck. Our lips molded each other perfectly. His kiss, burning with passion.
We went in for a while before we pulled away from each other, gasping. We gazed into each other's eyes, the world containing only the two of us.
Someone cleared their throat, "We need to go back to the border"
I bit my lip and kissed him, softly this time. "It's going to be okay" I whispered to the both of us before letting him go.
I went with the soldier. He let go of Mina and walked by my side. He helped me enter a military vehicle before getting in. I glanced outside the window and saw that the others were also getting inside the other vehicles. I caught Taehyung's eyes, a troubled expression in his godly features.
I smiled sadly at him one last time before the vehicles started moving. I closed my eyes and let my head rest on the window.
I hope I made the right choice.
