It is easy to take for granted what you possess until you are deprived from it.
Maybe she took him for granted;
Maybe she was not kind enough;
Maybe she was not lively enough;
Maybe she was not enough.
Maybe that's why she lay on her bathroom floor writhing with excruciating internal pain. Her sobs echo throughout her humble cottage, silence being the only eavesdropper, as she secretly wishes she could physically feel the turmoil she holds within.
That has always been the downside of an eternal life - all pain was internal. The only pain she was susceptible to was that which is from within.
Tears that would never be shed blurred her honey colored irises as she wondered why he broke his promise.
The residual numbness of her emotions overtook her as she asked herself the same question over and over again until her head began to spin.
All signs pointed to the same, simple answer:
she was the reason why.
