Chapter 5
(Hunter POV)
I stared at Clara as she wrote down my answers I’ve given her. She’s so different yet familiar. She’s not like other girls who would try desperately to get my attention. I wonder why.
For some reason, her voice chimes in my head like bells and its music to my ears. It’s been a long time since I experienced this feeling. It was like when I was with Victoria all over again. Everything she says is like a melody that I can’t get sick off.
No! You love Victoria! Don’t think about Clara! Victoria is still waiting for you! My subconscious mind told me. He’s right. My heart belongs to Victoria. I must focus on my task.
“Hunter!” I snapped out of it and looked into Clara’s blue hypnotizing eyes.
“Sorry, you were saying?”
“I was saying, how many siblings do you have?”
“One younger brother and one older sister.” I was telling the truth.
I do have an older sister and a younger brother. My sister’s name is Theresa Anne Cross and she’s 20. She’s engaged to Silver Star Kingdom’s eldest son. They were arranged to be married at the age of 19 and they hated each other at first. But, like how the cliché stories go, they fell in love.
Then there’s my younger brother who is 16 and studying at the Royal Academy which was owned by the Rising Sun Kingdom, which was Victoria’s parents.
As the eldest son of my kingdom, I had to take my place as throne. I had to find a wife to get married to or I’ll not be fit for King. I wanted Victoria to be my Queen. To rule beside me, but alas, she got kidnapped to god knows where. I could only pray that she’s safe and sound.
“Oh crap! I got to go, Hunter. I’ve to be home by 5 o’clock and it’s already 4.45!” Clara said and quickly packed her stuff before she sung her bag on her shoulders.
“Oh. Why don’t I give you a lift? It will probably be faster.” I offered, standing up to retrieve my car keys from the table.
“That would be great! Thanks!” She smiled widely at me and I couldn’t help but smile back.

When we reached her house, she turned to me and said, “I’ll see you tomorrow. Why don’t we continue the project tomorrow at my house? We will alternate the days of getting to know each other so it wouldn’t be boring.” I nodded.
“Yeah sure. Bye!” She waved goodbye to me and I sped down the street back to the hotel.

(Clara POV)
Morning. It’s the worst time of the day. Whoever could wake up in that godly time is a freakin’ vampire. Like, how many of you people would rather laze in bed all day then go to school early in the morning for boring lessons.
I trudged out of bed and headed downstairs where my aunt and uncle were eating their breakfast. As usual, my uncle was reading the morning newspapers and was drinking a cup of coffee that was made by my aunt. Her coffees are fantastic. One drink of it and you can forget about Starbucks. Believe me, I love Starbucks but my aunt’s coffees beats it.
I grabbed a granola bar and chatted with my aunt and uncle for a little while before heading to the hell-hole I call school.
***********
“Clara! So, I heard you went to Hunter’s house!” Emily grinned wickedly at me, wiggling her eyebrows suggestively. I laughed and shook my head.
“We were doing a project. Don’t get excited about this.”
“Clara! That guy is hot and you seem as if he’s like average to you! Are your standards that high?”
“Emily, he’s hot and cute. But, I’m not interested in dating yet.” I sighed inwardly. Sure, Hunter’s not and all and I got to admit, I’m kinda attracted to him but I was not ready for a relationship.
“Fine, fine, fine. FYI, you two would make a cute couple together.” Emily hurried off to her classroom which was all the way to the other side of the school.
I looked at her back and shook my head, wondering why she wanted me desperately to have a boyfriend. I spun around and stumbled into a wall. Or I think it is. I looked up and found myself looking into the eyes of Hunter. His eyes, such a pretty shade of green.
He held on to my arms as I nearly lost my balance. “Whoa! Slow down, girl.” Once I got my balance, he let go of me and we walked to our first class together which we coincidentally have together.
“I was wondering. How many classes do we have together?” I asked Hunter, who shrugged. He passed his timetable to me and I studied them.
“Here, let’s see how many classes.” I counted the total number and found that we had 4 of the same classes together out of 8. Looks like I’ll be spending more time with Hunter than anybody else.
“4 classes. Not bad, you’ll spending more time with me than anybody then.” I remarked, returning him his timetable. He grinned and kept back his timetable before slinging his arms on my shoulder.
“It’s not that bad isn’t it? Since I’m your best friend after all.” He grinned cheekily at me.
“But my best friend is Emily.” I was confused. Since when did I replace her?
“Aww, you didn’t remember? Yesterday, during lunch break, you said I would replace her.” I placed his hand on his heart and pouted at me. This is a new sight. I didn’t know Hunter had it in him.
I recalled this scene and smiled. “I guess I did. Come on, best friend.”
************
After the boring lectures, you could imagine me resisting the urge to pull my hair out. How do the people even concentrate in all of these lessons?
I took my lunch and sat down at my usual table which is already occupied by Casey. I greeted her cheerfully and we talked about the latest trend of fashion before the rest of the group came.
I took out my lollipop which I snuck out from home and pooped it into my mouth. I was banned from eating lollipops by my aunt since I would get hyper after eating any sugary food. Especially lollipops. But, they’re my favourite. So, nobody can get in the way of lollipops and me. Not even the whole universe.
Suddenly, my lollipop was being taken out of my mouth and I gasped in shock. One thought only went through my head. Who took my lollipop?!?! I turned around and saw Hunter grinning mischievously at me while sucking my lollipop. When he took it out, the size of the lollipop was so much smaller.
“My lollipop! How dare you take my baby!” I pointed my finger at Hunter and snatched it back to pop it back into my mouth. I felt a sense of déjà vu. It’s as if I encountered this scene before.
Before Hunter could reply, I felt myself slipping into a memory of my past.
(Vision)
“Sir Spider! Stop running! Give me back my lolli! Stop!” I chased after my best friend, Sir Spider. That was not his real name. Since he loves spiders and always try to act like spider man, I called him Sir Spider and it stuck as his nickname.
“No! It’s mine now!” Sir Spider kept running, shaking the lolli in front of me. I was so tired and I couldn’t run anymore. I stopped running and started crying out loud.
“I want my lolli! You big meanie!” I sobbed loudly and it attracted the attention of Sir Spider. He turned around and ran to me when he realised that I was upset.
“Don’t cry poppy. Here, I’ll give you back your lolli.” He cooed at me and thrust the lolli in front of me. I stopped crying and took back the lolli and licked it. The taste exploded in my mouth and I smiled happily.
“Thank you, Sir Spider!” I kissed him on the cheek happily and stood back up. When Sir Spider stood up again, his cheeks were pink. I wonder why… (A/N Remember, she’s very young so she does not know much.)
When my mother was about to call me back, I slipped out of the memory.
(Vision end)
I jolted out of the bed and looked around. Since when was I on the bed? I clearly remembered that I was in the cafeteria. The room I was in had baby blue walls and I realised that I was in the nurse room.
Sitting on the chairs were none other than my friends. They all looked at me worriedly, afraid that I might faint again. I looked to my right and saw Mrs Grey, the nurse.
“Hello, Clara. How are you feeling?” Mrs Grey asked me. I tried to answer her but I could only croak out, “W-water.”
I was handed a cup of water by Casey. I took it gratefully and drank the whole cup of water in one go. I cleared my throat.
“Thanks.” I gave the cup back to Casey who placed it in the sink.
“Do you remember what happened?” Mrs Grey asked me. I nodded.
“I remember that I was in the cafeteria with Casey and I was licking my lollipop. Then, this big doofus here took it away. After we argued, I think I fainted or something?” I didn’t want to tell them about my memory since they would most likely pounce on me with questions on what I saw.
Mrs Grey nodded and recorded my diagnoses before lifting up her glasses. “So, there’s no sign of memory loss although you hit your head pretty hard against the floor. Other than the occasional headaches that you might have, you should be fine. Try not to do any work that requires a lot of work and no driving. That’s all.”
“So, can I leave now or do I still have to stay here to rest?” I asked. I was eager to wring my hands around Hunter’s neck for taking my lollipop. Nobody. I mean nobody should ever come between me and my lollipop. Food is my life.
“You can leave now but I suggest that you go back home to rest. I’ll give you a pass to leave school early. If you suffer any headaches, take some painkillers. Remember to drink more water.” After handing me the pass, we all left the nurse’s office.
As soon as we’re out, I lunged for Hunter. Not in a sexual way. I clasped my hands around his neck and he lost his balance and fell to the ground.
“You butthead! You big meanie! Who said you could take my lolli? This is the only time I could eat one you dickwad!” I punched his chest over and over again. Each time I land a punch, I received an “Ow!” as a response.
After I vented all my anger, I stood up and realised that I had been straddling him, I blushed. Since my face was all puffy and red from anger, nobody could notice it.
“Damn girl! You throw a mean punch!” Hunter groaned in agony and stood back up slowly. (And painfully) I guess I hit him a little too hard. Or maybe very hard.
“You think?” All of my friends said in unison, even going as far to raise their eyebrow. I smiled at them sheepishly at them. All of them got punched in the arm by me for some reason or another.
“Sorry?” I apologised. I knew my punches were hard since my aunt enrolled me into defence class so that I can protect myself in danger. So, that’s how I learn to throw a punch.
“Come on! Let’s get you home. We still have to do the project.” Hunter tugged my arm and dragged me to his car.
“Hey! I can drive home myself!” I protested, trying to stop Hunter from pulling me away from my car.
“Oh no, Clara. Mrs Grey says no driving. Emily! Catch!” he swiped my car keys from my hands and threw it at Emily who caught it swiftly.
“Emily! If you hurt Luna, you’re as good as dead!” I shouted over my shoulder and followed Hunter.
************
As soon as we got to my house, I took out two cups of water and brought out packets of chips and another lollipop. Speaking of lollipops, Hunter still hasn’t given me back my lollipop! I gasped and narrowed my eyes at Hunter, who was struggling to open the bag of chips.
“You!” I pointed my finger at him.
“Me?” Hunter tilted his head to the side and looked confusedly at me like a lost puppy. He looks kinda cute like this.
“Yes you! My lolli! Give it back or buy me another one!”
“What makes you think I will?” Hunter smirked at me. I wish I could just wipe it off. I grinned mischievously and let out an evil laugh which made Hunter’s smirk to falter a little.
“Although the Ferrari is a very nice car which I adore, you wouldn’t want it to get scratched do you?” I smiled innocently at him, batting my eyelashes for effect.
“Okay, okay! I’ll buy you one!” He grumbled under his breath, throwing a pillow at me. I dodged it and it ended up hitting the wall.
Then, Hunter asked the dreaded the question which I wished he never asked. But it seems like I can’t avoid it.
“What…”

Ooh! Cliff-hanger! What do you think he is going to ask her?
