I was lying awake in my room that night. I told them all about what my dad did to me while I still lived in this house. Their reactions weren't unexpected but I wasn't sure how I felt after I told them. I hope this didn't dampen their excitement for the party tomorrow evening. I wonder what Maka's dress is going to look like. If I knew Mom, then I know Maka will look amazing. Why am I thinking about this anyways? She's just my friend. I turned over and closed my eyes. I need to sleep. Just when I was about to fall asleep, I heard the girls screaming. I got up and ran into their room. "What's wrong?"
"G-G-Ghost!" Liz yelled hugging the crap out of Patty. I turned and saw a girl with pale skin and black hair staring at me. She looked familiar.
"Hm," I looked at her with concentration. I've seen her somewhere before... "Oh, you're Sophie right?" The girl smiled.
"You remembered me."
"I'm shocked," Maka said raising an eyebrow.
"Oh shut up," I said rolling my eyes at her. "Anyways, what are you doing in here? Better yet how did you get in here?"
"I heard you were back and wanted to see you. Ben let me in earlier, but I couldn't find you, so I hid in the closet in here."
"W-Why?" I asked her wide-eyed. "You could've went back down stairs and asked Alice or one of the others." She just shrugged. I sighed. "Geez, do you want me to walk you home?"
"That would be nice." The thing that creeped me out the most about her was the fact that there wasn't any emotion in her eyes at all, but she smiled when she was happy and cried when she was sad, yet her eyes were just blank.
"Is everything alright?" Kid asked as he and Black Star walked into the room.
"Yes, Sophie just scared us." Tsubaki answered smiling.
"Come on, Sophie, let's get you home. I bet your parents are worried."
"Okay," Sophie said as she followed me out of the room.
"How've you been? Did you get over your sickness?" I asked trying to keep it from getting awkward.
"I've been doing well and yes, my sickness was cured. I still have trouble with doing physical things like running, though. So I'm excused from all my gym classes." That must be nice... I thought enviously. "How have you been? I heard your father died."
"I've been doing great too. And I'm happy he's dead."
"I see," She didn't say anything for awhile.
"Will you be coming to my mom's party?"
"Yes, I look forward to you and your brother's performances tomorrow." She said just as we got to her house.
"Thanks, see you tomorrow evening, I guess." She nodded, smiling before going inside. I shook my head before going back to the house. Geez, what a troublesome girl... I thought as I made it back to my room.
"Did she get home safely?" Maka asked me when I got to my door.
"Yeah," She smiled.
"That's good, see you in the morning." Then she went into her room. I sighed and went back into my room and went to bed. Man, I'm exhausted. The next morning, I woke up to Black Star and Kid fighting, again. At this point, I don't even care about what the two are fighting about anymore. All I know was that it was driving me nuts. I finally got around to getting dressed for the day and when I left my room, I saw the girls watching Black Star and Kid arguing with each other. From the way things were going, I could see this was going to turn out into full on fight if I didn't say anything.
"Geez," I muttered, sighing. Why did my friends have to be so troublesome sometimes? "Come on, guys." I yawned a little. "It's time for breakfast." Black Star looked at me like I was giving him a present.
"Yahoo!" I shook my head as my over energetic friend took off down the hall way.
"Sometimes, I wonder about that kid." Liz said shaking her head. I shrugged.
"I don't care as long as nothing gets destroyed." I yawned once again.
"So, what are you playing for you solo act?" Maka asked him curiously. I shrugged.
"Who knows?"
"W-Wait, you don't even know what you're doing yet?" Tsubaki asked him wide-eyed.
"Yeah, but honestly, I don't really have to worry about practicing for my solo act. All I have to do is figure out what I'm going to play."
"The way you said that sounded really arrogant." Maka said rolling her eyes. I sighed.
"I'll think of something in time for tonight. So don't worry about it." Maka rolled her eyes again as the group made their way down the stairs and into the dining area. Black Star was already pigging out on breakfast and Mom and Wes were talking.
"Good morning, everyone," Mom greeted them with a smile.
"Good morning," Everyone replied. I yawned for the millionth time this morning.
"Did you get enough sleep last night?" Mom asked me worriedly.
"Well, Sophie ended up hiding out in the girls' closet and scared them and I ended up walking her home last night."
"Oh my," Mom said laughing a little. "Is she alright?"
"Yeah," I said shaking my head. I still think she's weird. She smiled.
"That's good. I'm assuming she'll be joining us tonight?"
"Yeah, she said she'd be here." She nodded and went back to talking to Wes.
"Hey, where's Kid?" Maka asked curiously.
"I just now noticed that he isn't here." Liz said frowning. Suddenly my phone rang.
"Hello?"
"Soul~!"
"Kid? Where are you?" Everyone was looking at me curiously.
"I d-don't know!" He was crying. I sighed.
"Okay, what do your surroundings look like?"
"There's n-nothing, b-but ribbons and bows everywhere!" I face palmed. Mia had gone overboard again.
"Alright, I'll be there in just a minute, so hang tight."
"O-Okay," He said sniffling.
"Where is he?" Maka asked worriedly as I put my phone away.
"He got himself lost in the ballroom and from the sounds of it, Mia went all out on it while the others weren't looking." I said sighing. Mom laughed.
"I'm sure whatever it looks like, it'll be great." Wes chuckled.
"Was he crying?" Patty asked eagerly.
"Yeah, a lot," I answered giving her a weird look. She just giggled. Liz face palmed. "I'll go get him." I decided that if I run into Alice, I would ask her to go fix the ballroom to make sure it wasn't over the top.
"Are you on your way to get your friend?" Alice asked walking up to him.
"Yeah, is he freaking out and crying?"
"Yeah, should I be worried?" She asked looking concerned. I sighed.
"No, this happens all the time. I know this is a lot to ask for on the day of the party but,"
"You want me to get rid of some of the things Mia put up in the ballroom?" I grinned.
"Yeah, if you don't mind." Alice chuckled.
"That's alright. I had a feeling you would ask that, so I have Allen and Lucy working on it right now."
"Thanks, you're the best."
"Aw, you make me blush, Soul." I rolled my eyes knowing she was just messing around. She grinned.
"Anyways, you have some very interesting friends."
"So I've been told," She just chuckled.
"See you later, mister." I watched her curiously as she walked away. What did she mean by that? Oh well... I thought as I finally got to the ballroom. As expected, Kid was on the ground crying.
"Oi, Kid, get up." I said pulling him to his feet. "Allen and Lucy are taking care of the ballroom right now, see?" Kid looked up and nodded, still sniffling. I sighed for the millionth time today. "Everyone's waiting for you in the dining room. You'll want to eat, since there's going to be a long day ahead of us." Kid nodded again.
"You're right. I'm sorry,"
"It's alright, now let's go." Kid nodded. It seemed like Kid got himself together. When we returned to the dining room, Patty was laughing. I assumed she was laughing at Kid because he cried. Is she some sadistic demon with a split personality? Ah, well, it doesn't matter, I guess. After lunch, Wes told me he wanted to practice one more time before we had to get ready for the party, so the two of us headed to the music room. Wes says I'm doing well on the violin, but I feel like I'm not good enough yet.
"I was thinking we could also try mimic each other's playing style." Wes told me as we entered the room.
"That sounds interesting enough."
"Only, I don't know if I could mimic your playing style by ear like you can."
"Hm, well, how about I go over the sheet music and write in what I would do in certain places and you play it like that? I know it won't be easy for you to adjust to,"
"That's great, I like it."
"I can't promise that I will be able to mimic your playing style for long, though."
"Why? It can't be that hard. You just play normally." I grinned.
"That's the problem. It's hard for me not to put my own style into it, you know?" Wes chuckled.
"I understand. I doubt I could keep up your playing style for long either. So how about for the first half of the piece, we mimic each other's playing style and the rest of it, we go back to our own playing style."
"Alright, that shouldn't be a problem." I'm starting to really like this. I had no idea that Wes could be like this. Then again, I never really gave him a chance.
"I'm assuming you have no idea what you're going to be playing for your solo performance?"
"Yep, but I'll think of something." Wes chuckled.
"I'm sure you won't need any practice."
"Yeah and I won't need any sheet music either. I've never really went along with the original piece." I said grinning. He smiled and the two of us set to work on our duet.
