Both Nikki and Avery walked through the door. Nikki spotted Jen first she was doing paper work at the table.
" hey momma"
Jen glanced at them then she took off her glasses and spoke
" where were you"
Avery decided to speak for both of them
" we were at the skating rink"
" did you have permission"
" we were just a couple blocks away" Nikki answered
" that wasn't the question"
Nikki groaned " no we didn't have permission but I forgot to ask sorry I'm used to going everyday"
" how many times this month have you forgotten to ask to do something"
" I don't know "
" plenty of times so until I believe you won't 'forget' you both are grounded. You not leaving this house unless you are with us or when your at school and no extra articular activities "
" WHAT no I have morning practices I have to go for I can't just miss them I won't be able to be on varsity"
" should of thought about that before hand"
" Well I'm sorry that I figured that you wouldn't care considering your never home in the first place or your too busy with paperwork here." Nikki said her voice raising
" don't raise your voice towards me you are skating on thin ice Nicole"
" don't call me that and your not being fair I'm going to practice whether you like it or not" Nikki replied still letting her voice raise
" go to your room now... before I or yourself loose our tempers... now young lady
" what no ugh fine" Nikki aid throwing her arms in the air before turning and walking up the stairs. Slamming her door shut when she entered her room.
Nikki grabbed the closest the thing she could fine, a hanger and broke into one, two, three, four five pieces. She was trying to hold her temper and she wasn't going to let it bottle up like she didn't last because that ended bad. She grabbed her phone and played thunderstorm sounds off of pandora laying on her bed with the sound full volume staring at the ceiling and before she knew it she feel asleep
Next she knew her door opened and in walked Avery holding Chinese. Nikki pulled the headphones out of her ears.
" what time is it?"
" 6:00 dad told me to bring it up for you"
" is he mad"
" no not really I mean he isn't exactly happy but he's not going to spank you or anything"
" mom?"
" she seems fine"
"Really"
" yeah she seems more worried about you to be honest."
" what does she have to be worried for"
" she thinks you are going to sneak out to practice"
" I am I need to be on varsity Av I just do"
" well I wouldn't"
" you don't understand okay your great at school and art and music and friends and I'm not I'm just good at soccer and stuff"
" I don't what to say Nikki but it's not a good idea and I think you should come down stairs Dad said that McGee might come over"
" great sounds like fun.... note the sarcasm I'm not in the mood so just leave me alone" Nikki then put her headphones back in
Avery did as she said and went back down stairs.
" she's not going to come down she told me to leave her alone" she said to her dad
Avery went and sat next her mom.
" I don't understand what is so important about going to her practices" Jen asked Gibbs
Before her dad answered she spoke with put really thinking thing through
" she wants to prove she good at something and the only thing she thinks she's good at is soccer but Nikki has always been that way"
" why would she think that" of course her mother asked
" I don't know she just doe-"
She didn't get to finish because McGee and Tony cane flying through the door.
" Dinozzo what the hell is wrong with you two" Gibbs asked look over his shoulder at them
" oh uh hey boss there was uh was a dog out and started to run and and uh yeah" Tony managed to get out
Avery rolled her eyes
" it's just the neighbors dog he's cool and he's not going to bite you big babies" she said with a smirk
Tony rolled his eyes in return and ruffled his hand in her hair she leaned forward and looked back at him with a glare before moving and bit more the right.
McGee smiled and sat down on the couch and watched the tv with them it wasn't until they were getting ready to leave that Nikki came down slightly pouting.
" I'm not going to eat any of this so I'm just going to put it in a container for left overs" she said ignoring Tony who was trying to talk to her.
After she was done she slid it on the top shelf of the fridge and turned around only to back up against the fridge with Tony in front of her.
" why are ignoring me huh" he asked
" cause I can Tony leave me alone please I don't need this I only came down cause I don't want ants in my room now get out of my way" she pushed past him and frowned
She started walking to the steps but her mom intervened and called her over.
She stopped in her step and hesitated before walked over to her mom and sat on the other side of her.
" yeah?" She didn't look at her mom but at her hands
" I understand that you are upset but I want you to know that earlier today I called the school and your coach is willing to allow you to miss practice as long as you make up the missed days" she smiled down at her
Nikki looked up at her with a angry look
" oh great just cause my mommy called the coach I get a chance but everyone else yeah that's going to make my teammates think well of me" she said in a sarcastic tone with a roll of the eye
She stood up and stomped up to her room tuning out her dads voice yelling to her to come back. She turned and without hesitation yelled out
" can you be anymore of a bitch" and with that she slammed her door and locked it.
It wasn't much longer when she heard her dad running up the steps and jiggle the door handle then he stopped probably in search of a key
She backed up and began to panic she looked around the room and opened the window it was raining and she had flip flops in her room she frowned and sat in the window sill.
Soon the door jiggled again but opened this time her dad strode into her room.
" don't you dare leave this house get back in here" he paused half way into her room
" I wasn't going too and I didn't mean what I stayed I was just angry I didn't mean it"
She carefully swung her feet on the ground slowly walked towards him when she was close enough he reached out and grabbed her. He turned her and brought his hand down half a dozen times before stopping and looking into her eyes.
" your mother would like a word with you she is in the kitchen I suggest you don't keep her waiting go I will be here taking off your door because this door doesn't need to be slammed or locked understood"
She nodded with a quick yes and walked back down stairs. Luckily for her Tony and McGee took a hint and left the house with Avery in tow probably going to stay with them.
She cringed when she walked into the kitchen and her mom was holding a wooden spoon.
Jen waved her over to her and watched her daughter slowly walked over to her wringing her hands in anxiety and she finally made it to her and her eyes met the floor before Jen reached out and grabbed her chin forcing her to look up at her.
" that young lady was uncalled for" she spoke slowly but her voice was hard
" I know and I'm sorry" Nikki tried to pull away but she couldn't
" you aren't sorry yet but you will be pull down your shorts and put your hands on the table and lean over"
Nikki's mouth dropped open.
" unless you would rather go over my knee Nicole" Jenny added
Nikki gritted her teeth at being called Nicole but quickly turned around and did as she was previously told and waited.
She didn't have to wait long before her mother brought down the dreaded spoon across her bottom and she could feel the tears flood her eyes but she wouldn't let them fall and a hand pushed down on her back and her sit spots were under attack she let the go freely and began to cry.
When her mother finally stop wailing on her bottom she stood and tried to make a quick exit from the room but her mom grabbed her and brought her into a hug whispering sweet nothings in her ear. She muttered an I'm sorry and detached herself from her mom and started to go back up stairs for bed her dad just finished coming down the step she looked at him and back at her mom.
" I'm going to bed night and I uh I'm sorry" she said with a slight smile and quietly jogged up the steps
That night she slept on her stomach but was happy that she did however have a chance to get on varsity.
