I dislodge myself from the haven of my closed eyelids and focus onto the formally dressed person across the table. They smile softly, nearly pityingly, before leaning forward to rest their forearms onto the silky tablecloth, beckoning me closer as they daintily pick up a half-filled crystal wineglass. "You've told your story, as shall I; what does your heart truly want?" I part my lips, searching for a fit answer to no avail. With a sly smirk, they dip a fingertip into the crimson liquid of the glass as I watch, mesmerized, potential draping their skin, coating it thickly. They then lift it to the glass's rim, circling it idly as its shudders ring clear, slurring my stutters, causing the pariah to cock their head. "Well?" My gaze flickers between the trickling red and their glinting eyes like a dying flame. The ringing becomes brasher. They recline, compelling me to jolt as my chance dulls. "I want to spill blood." I blurt carelessly. The ringing halts instantly yet echoes through my head like a dying man's words. A grin. "Say it." With reformed resolve, I say, "I want you, Vengeance." Identical mad grins as a backhand slap from me spills the glass, the blood onto the marble in an unspoken oath.
