Part Seventy-Four
Harry lies on top of me, his head pressing into my upper back. His arms are wrapped tightly around my stomach and his left hand is wrapped around my right one. We barely slept last night, basically staying up all night talking. The last thing he told me before I fell asleep was his promise to get me a ring, he just has to find the perfect one.
I wiggle a little, Harry groaning and tightening his arms around me. His body moves up and he places his head next to mine, his nose pressing to the back of my head.
"Go back to sleep Beth," he whispers, my body pressed against his. I turn my head and look at him, his eyes closed and his lips pursed. Luckily, I don't work today so I can stay in with Harry.
My body soon feels uncomfortable under his weight and I shift out from under him, his arm and leg soon draping over me and pulling me to him. Harry moves his head closer to mine and lays his forehead on mine, his curls running against my skin.
My forefinger comes up and I tap his bottom lip, his face holding a certain angry face. It's cute; like an angry baby face. He barely opens his eyes, slight green color coming out.
"You having fun there?" he raspily whispers, his hooded eyes looking into mine.
"Yes, you're cute," I smile, his teeth becoming visible. He buries his head in my neck and begins to kiss the skin, my heart fluttering at the gesture. His lips suck on the skin and he moves his hands to my chest. I whimper slightly, my chest still sensitive. Harry moves his hands up my shirt and grabs my breasts, massaging the skin gently.
"H-Harry," I breathe, his hands leaving my shirt and grabbing my cheeks. He places his lips on mine and my nails scratch against his back.
"Do that again," he moans, my lips moving with his. My hands scratch against his back again and I move them back up, gripping onto his chestnut locks.
Our intimate moment is ruined when my phone rings, Harry pulling away. He nods his head and climbs off me, allowing me to take the call. My finger hits the green button and I set it to my ear.
"Hello?"
"Beth, I need to talk to you," Gemma's worried voice flows through the phone. My body sits up and Harry follows, looking at me concerned.
"Yeah sure, give me a second."
I stand up and walk out of the bedroom, walking to the guest bedroom and locking the door behind me. If Gemma's calling me, she won't want Harry to know.
"Okay, what's going on?" I ask, sitting on the white bed in the room.
"I've been talking to my father," she breathes, the color in my face dropping.
"Really?" I am shocked; both of them never speaking highly of their father.
"Yes, I just- I needed to talk to him. He may have hurt Harry and me, but he's changed Beth. He's changed so much. I'm afraid if I tell Harry he'll get mad and won't speak to me."
"I-I don't know what to say," I say, her breathing heavy over the phone.
"I just needed to tell someone. My dad has changed into something good. He's engaged to a woman he loves, he's a lawyer, and he's giving my mum money every month without her knowing. Harry would be pissed at him and me but can you please just- just tell him to try."
A knock on the door sounds and I ignore it, falling back on the bed. Harry hates his father. I don't know if I can help him.
"He won't want to, I know it," I tell her, her voice sighing.
"Just tell him to try for me and for mum. My mum has contacted me and said they are on okay terms, my father trying to help her with anything she needs. Plus my mum apparently is going out with our old neighbor now so she's fine."
My mouth drops open and I smile. "Good for her. I'm glad she's feeling better and is doing well. I hope your dad isn't being too pushy with her," I say.
"He's not. He's just making sure she's happy and is giving her money for medication and anything she needs. His fiancée is friends with my mum so she's comfortable, her boyfriend never leaving her side."
"That's good. Really good, but, no offense, really weird."
She laughs and I do too, waiting for her to talk.
"I know, but my dad is just trying to build up a new relationship. We can do it," she says, my head nodding even though she can't see me.
"Listen Beth, just please talk to him and I will too. Just do it first; he'll listen to you better."
I laugh and agree, saying goodbye and hanging up. My feet pad the floor and I open the door, Harry standing against the opposite wall.
"Who was that?" he sternly asks, my fingers running through my hair.
"Your sister," I whisper, walking back into the bedroom.
"My sister called you? Why did she need you?" he asks, following after me. My stomach churns with nerves and I tell him to sit down. My eyes watch his body as he sits, his muscles flexing as he does so. Setting the phone on the table, I walk back over to him and stand between his legs, grabbing his hands.
"She's been talking to your father," I breathe out, his face hardening and his hand tightening around mine. My hand lets go of his and I grab his cheeks, forcing him to look into my eyes.
"Calm down, it's okay, breathe," I tell him, his face still frowning after I talk to him. His eyes focus in on mine and he takes a deep breath, nodding for me to continue.
"She says he's changed and is engaged now. He's helping your mom with money and your mom now has a boyfriend."
"What the fuck?" he yells, grabbing my waist. He shakes his head and I hold him, calming him down.
"It's okay Harry. Just listen to me," I say, his hands pushing me closer to him.
"Your mom is dating your old neighbor and he doesn't leave her side when your father is around. She finds safety with you neighbor and they all just want you to be safe. Everything is going to be okay Harry, I'm right here," I coo, sitting on his lap and running my fingers through his hair.
"This isn't right," he states, anger laced in his words. "He shouldn't be coming near her. He needs to leave her alone or I will fly over there to cuss him out," he groans, soothing himself under my touch.
"Just give him a chance Harry," I try, his arms wrapping tighter to try and erase the pain. All I want right now is to know he's safe and is feeling like he is.
"Beth, I can't. That man has scarred me forever and I don't want him to come near you. He has a bad history and I can't explain to you in words what I went through when he was around. I need you just to accept that I can't do it."
He chokes the last few words and I hold him closer. I softly coo him and his eyes close, his eyebrows crunching together.
"Let me out of the room before I lose it," he tells me, my body lifting off his. He storms out of the room and I follow after him, giving him space before I help him. I hear him crashing his dishware and I jog into the kitchen, his hand holding a plate. There are a few plates already lying broken on the floor from his previous actions.
I walk towards him and he huffs out a yell, smashing a plate against the wall. He turns his back on me and I stand near him.
"Give me one," I say, his back heaving with his breathing. He turns and looks at me, plates in his hands. My hand grabs one from his right hand and I throw it at the wall. The plate shatters and I look back up at him.
"Why did you just do that?" he asks, his voice seemingly calm.
"If you want to smash plates against the wall, you need to see that it won't solve problems. Talk to me about them. Me throwing a plate at the wall was pointless, which is the same thing to say about why you are. What do I have to do to help you? Make you see that I am safe?"
He stays silent and looks at the floor. My heart is beating so quickly, wanting my fiancée to trust me. He steps over a pile of glass, extending his arm and placing a plate on the counter.
He walks over to me and wraps his strong arms around me, tightly holding me into his chest. My arms wrap around his waist and my head lay on his chest, listening to his heart beat. He leans his head against mine and kisses the side of my head.
"You are the safest place for me," he whispers, "I would be lost without you."
"Then let me help you," I breathe. He nods and lifts me up, carrying me over the glass shards. Once in the foyer, his arms set me down and his eyes look down at me. He kisses me softly and Harry cups my cheeks in his hands.
"He's done so many bad things. I just can't see past it," he says, his arms remaining wrapped around me.
"I understand Harry. You need to try to get over the past. I'm here and if you need to yell, cry, or just simple need to hold someone, I'm here."
He smiles and he kisses me again, holding his lips to mine in a sweet kiss.
"You're his son. He's your father. Just try Harry, for me," I whisper.
"For you, I'd do anything."

Harry and I decided to take a walk in the park, his hand holding mine tightly.
"Do you think he's changed?" he asks, still generally nervous about this.
"With the things I've heard, it does sound like he's changed. Just call him once an if it doesn't go well, don't call him again."
He nods and we walk through the playground area, my eyes watching the little kids swinging on swings. I smile and remember playing on this playground, endless memories with Emma, Gabby, and Morgan.
My boots scuff along the pathway as we enter the little bridge to the other half of the park, Harry's arm leading the way. Two guys start jogging towards us and without look, run into Harry.
"Watch it," he growls, my eyes landing on the blonde boy. My feet scurry behind Harry, who is glaring at them.
"Leave," Harry says, my body hiding from Greg and his old friend.
"Nah man, we would much rather play with her. For old times sake," Greg laughs, my arm wrapping around Harry's torso.
"Give it up. You know you're pissed I'm captain with you, and that I can easily break your nose and jaw with one single punch. You a goddamn bastard who needs to get a life," Harry yells, Greg inferior to him. His friend backs away but Greg stands tall.
"You are just with her because she's hot. That's all she is. She has nothing to offer and she's pathetic. You're the one who needs to give it up," he shouts at Harry. My heart drops but Harry defends me, telling him he's a self proclaimed manwhore.
Greg moves towards him and Harry gets ready to hit him with his cast. My feet move in front of them and ky hands press to both their chests and I look at Harry. I whisper about the children being around and he nods, my hands moving to my sides.
"Wow, you practically control him," Greg says, my head turning to him. His nose is still slightly bruised and his dark green eyes stare into mine.
"At least he respects me," I spit at him, Harry wrapping a hand around my arm.
"You're actually standing up to me? It's about time," he laughs, my eyebrows crunching in frustration.
"Yeah and you want to what else is new?" I smile, grabbing onto his shoulders. He looks confused but as soon as I jut my leg up, my knee hitting him dead on in the crotch, he winces in a split second.
"I'm not afraid to do that," I say, Harry's arms wrapping around me as his friend walks back, giving us the finger. Harry and I start laughing and I bury my head in his chest, his lips kissing the top of my head.
"I love you," he laughs, kissing me on the lips. I reciprocate the words and we sit down under a tree, Harry telling me to put my head in his lap.
"That was awesome. I'm glad the little kids saw that one," he says, my guilt running through my body.
"He deserved it. Plus you were here so he couldn't beat me up."
I bring my hand up and grab his, holding it as his other plays with my hair. The plaster is rough against my fingers, tracing over my name with my forefinger.
"Can you play soccer with this thing?" I ask, his thumb running over my cheek.
"Yup. If it went up to my elbow then I couldn't. So I can officially play soccer," he smiles, my lips curving into one too.
"I can't wait to see you play," I tell him, watching his eyes move across my body. I wore jeans to cover up the hideous scratches on my leg and my white tee is fitted on my torso.
Harry carefully traces over my collarbones, my eyes closing.
"I paid my down payment for college the other day," I tell him, his fingers stopping their motions.
"Why didn't you tell me?" he asks, my eyes opening to see his pretty green ones.
"Because I wanted to do this by myself," I explain, his eyebrows crunched.
"You know I am still helping you pay for this. You are not going to pay full tuition by yourself."
I open my mouth to protest but he puts his finger on my lips, shaking his head.
"You are my fiancée and I think I should help you out," he says, his words making my heart flutter.
His eyes look into mine and I smile, his hand moving off my lips. "Got it?" he says, my head nodding.
"Good girl," he smirks, my hand smacking his stomach. Harry continues to run his fingers through my hair and trace my features, carefully touching me. My eyes close and I've never felt more at ease; Harry takes away everything that could stress me out.
"Another day, another life passes by just like mine. It's not complicated," Harry sings, softly whispering so only I can hear. His voice sings Ed Sheeran, one of my favorite songs, and gently holds my face in his hand.
"Touch down, like a seven four seven, Stay out, and we'll live forever now," he says, kissing my forehead and running his thumb along the base of my jaw.
My eyes open and I meet his gaze, smiling up at him. "That was beautiful," I tell him, his cheeks turning a certain pink color.
"I wanted to take my mind off my dad. Singing to you usually does it." I nod and sit up, moving to sit next to him. He wraps an arm around my waist and I lean my head on his shoulder.
"Well, I quite like it when you sing to me. It is one of the most beautiful sounds I have ever heard," I tell him, looking at his face. A beanie covers his head, keeping his curly hair covered. His black jeans are on his legs and a plaid shirt on his torso.
He turns his head and looks down at me, his face almost expressionless. I grab his hand and he focuses on my lips.
"It is one of the other ways I lose myself. Music," he says, my lips kissing his quickly. A smile appears on his lips and I move my hand to his stomach, grabbing his waist.
"I love music. I always have; my voice is tone deaf though," I say, a laugh escaping both of our lips.
"Yes, but you know what to say to calm me down," he whispers, "that is your special talent."
My lips curve into a smile and he kisses my cheek. "Now, let's go home," he smiles, standing up and leading me out of the park.
