(A girl from my school passed away recently and this is in honour of her. Rest in peace Ariana. Fly high angel.)
Lockers. As blue as jeans on the first day of school, taller than my 4'7" figure, lining the the building of my middle school. 12 feet away from mine, next to the science room, there as that girl. The girl with the curly brown ponytail. The girl attached at the hip to her best friends, giggling and laughing as they skitted from class to class. I never noticed her. She just blended into the landscape. Like too much algebra homework, and dodgeball humiliation fests, and crushes on boys too tall for you.
But, summer rolls around. 8 and 1/2 weeks of freedom. Then, the news comes, spreading around Snapchat like a wildfire in California's drought. She is gone. Didn't even hit 14 and her life was taken.
What she could have done. Cross country at the high school, go to college, have kids, and grandkids and great grandkids.
But no. my heart is on the floor, under which is Ari.
