Originally, Hao Mei never feels that going on a business trip is such a big thing. It's only half a month without seeing KO anyway.
Previously, he and Xiao Nai had also travelled on several business trips together. The duration of the trips varied, lasting from a few days up to an entire week. Despite that, he didn't encounter much difficulties in adjusting himself to the situation. Besides, technology has advanced, making phone calls and doing video calls have become much easier.
However, two days before he returned from his current trip, a problem emerged. When he ate dinner this evening, he was ridden with extreme anxiety. First, he detested the dirty environment of the restaurant, then when he looked at the menu, he grumbled that there's nothing he wanted to eat. Lastly, when the dishes had been served, he even fastidiously said that the food tasted bad.
Everyone knew exactly the reason behind his absurd behavior. Although they snickered and smiled knowingly at each other, in the end, they didn't say anything further and merely ushered Hao Mei to rest earlier because there's one more tough battle they need to fight tomorrow.
Returning to his hotel room, Hao Mei hugged his handphone close as he rolled back and forth on the bed. Yet, he was still unable to fall sleep.
Obviously, the only thing he can do right now is doing a video call with KO. After the video call connected, both of them chatted while facing the small screen of their phones, talking about some random topic.
This had been going on for the past several days. As they talked and talked endlessly, Hao Mei could gradually feel the fatigue dawning on him. KO waited for him to close his eyes before he lowered his voice down. He spoke a few last sentences and made sure that Hao Mei didn't reply anymore before accompanying him to sleep.
During the night, they didn't turn off the video call. They simply charged their phones while keeping the video call connected for the entire night until the next morning they woke up. When both opened their eyes, the first thing they did was smile at each other. Only after exchanging a few words of 'good morning' that they finally disconnect the call and started to get ready for work.
Both men were aware that placing their phones beside them for the whole night was not good and not entirely safe; however, special circumstance needs special approach. Thus, both of them had no other choice but to make do for the time being.
Hao Mei didn't know what's wrong with him tonight, but even video call couldn't provide the comfort to soothe his restless heart.
When KO realized his distress, his voice became much gentler than usual as he coaxed him, "Be good and sleep earlier. I'll accompany you."
Hao Mei pursed his lips in displeasure and started to stir up trouble on purpose, "You're not accompanying me. You are not even here."
He seized the pillow beside him, squeezing it tightly for a moment before discarding it away. He felt as if nothing could fill the void in his heart.
Why am I like this? He was also somewhat perplexed.
He had never behaved this way before. Previously, every time he went on a business trip, everything would be just fine. At most, he and KO would have several phone calls. Sometimes, both were so busy that they couldn't make a single phone call. For video calls and such, they would only do it if they were in the right mood.
However, everything had changed so much that it had become a necessity now. Starting from a few days ago, he definitely must see KO before he could sleep. In spite of this newly formed routine, he still felt that the passing days were terribly difficult and strenuous.
Especially tonight, Hao Mei felt like time was being stretched indefinitely; it felt so long to the extent that he must use seconds to measure the time.
He kept on counting, how many more seconds until he can pass this forlorn night, how many more seconds until he can finish tomorrow's work, until he can board the plane, fly back to Beijing, arrive at his home and finally get to eat KO's cooking.
Actually, it was only one day left. Once they finished negotiating the details tomorrow, they could immediately sign the contract and return to Beijing at the same night.
Nevertheless, this particular day felt like eternity.
Hao Mei lied on the bed as he informed KO of today's work progress. Then, he continued to talk about other unimportant stuffs. At long last, he couldn't take it anymore and began to whine in a spoiled yet flirtatious manner, "I don't want to sleep yet, but the negotiation tomorrow is very important. What's worse, it starts at nine o'clock in the morning. What should I do, ah?"
KO merely stared at him. After thinking for some time, he asked, "I'll sing you a song?"
Hao Mei replied, "Okay."
Then, KO started to sing. First, he sang a few love songs before continuing with a lullaby, yet Hao Mei was still wide-awake. Instead of getting sleepy, he became more excited and pestered KO to sing a sexy song.
After KO calmly finished the song, the sleepiness eluded Hao Mei even further and thus, he was unable to sleep at all.
Hao Mei took off his nightclothes. Afterwards, he held the blankets close as he proceeded to squirm and toss about in bed. Clamping the previously discarded pillow between his legs, he fervently grinded his body against it. Needless to say, Hao Mei acted with the clear intention to create a vivid scene to seduce KO.
However, when he faced his phone again, he noticed that KO didn't even bat an eyelid. Instead, the aloof man opened the computer beside the bed and reminded him casually, "It's almost eleven o'clock."
Hao Mei glanced at the time, then shifted his gaze back to KO. Truthfully, he was struck with slight disappointment as he dejectedly muttered, "Oh."
In the video call, KO had already directed his concentration towards the computer, seemingly engrossed in searching for something that he didn't even pay Hao Mei any attention.
Hao Mei eagerly stared him for the second time. But after spending quite some time waiting yet receiving no response from KO, he was irrevocably disheartened and grumbled, "Then, go do your work. I'm going to sleep."
KO hummed at him whilst his appearance remained absorbed in his own stuff, not even sparing Hao Mei a single glance.
Hao Mei started to get angry. He might as well turn the video call off and wait for KO to call back.
Who knows how many seconds later, quietness still engulfed the room as no sound could be heard.
He waited again for some time, yet his phone stayed silent as before. There was no notification of any kind.
"Why is it like this?" Hao Mei pouted while grumbling away.
Feeling abandoned, a small seed of frustration sprouted in his heart. Then again, when Hao Mei took in the fact that KO had been indulging his wishes for the whole night, whilst he didn't even do anything, he assumed that maybe KO finally got fed up with him and thought that it's his turn to busy himself with other things.
He consoled himself, pulling the blanket until it covered his head and told himself to sleep earlier.
After staying idle for a while, he could feel the tendrils of excitement began to claw at his body as he heated up again.
It had been half a month already. Prior to this trip, Hao Mei would regularly spend each night by having sex at least once with KO. Now that he suddenly abstained from such sexual lifestyle, he was slightly unaccustomed to it. Nevertheless, he actually understood this kind of inadaptation. As a result, when he chatted with KO, they would sometimes stray into certain gray areas that should not be described. The amorous couple could only cope in this manner to temporarily relieve the insatiable lust in their psyche.
Perhaps he misjudged the situation since KO didn't seem to share the same enthusiasm as him tonight.
Hao Mei then mischievously thought to himself, it's unlikely that he went to watch porn right?
Frankly speaking, he didn't want to solve his tiny problem by himself. He felt that if it were not KO's hand, there's no way that he would be satisfied.
He heaved a sigh as he lied on the bed. He continued to fantasize and allowed his imaginations to run wild for some time, yet he was still disgruntled. In the end, he forced himself to fall asleep. After an unknown period of time, Hao Mei's phone rang unexpectedly. He dazedly picked up the call and mumbled, "Hello?"
KO's voice sounded from the speakerphone, "Are you asleep?"
"Wu..." Hao Mei replied vaguely, his brain was not completely awake yet. He asked, "What's up?"
KO seemed to have paused for a moment before he continued, "I'm downstairs. Wear your clothes properly. Then, come down and guide me up."
"..." It took Hao Mei quite a while to digest KO's words. After realizing the meaning in his words, Hao Mei's heart was swamped with surprise as he roused from his lying position and sat on the bed. He then looked at the clock on his phone, it showed three o'clock in the morning. He immediately crawled down from the bed. Still in a state of disbelief, he asked the other person with a stammering voice, "You... You took a flight here?"
KO answered him with a hum.
"Wait for me. I'll go down right away." Hao Mei grabbed his clothes hung on the wall, wore them in one swoop and hurriedly exited the room. He even fastened his belt while running.
The October air was awfully cold, even more so during the dawn. KO only wore a single overcoat as he waited for Hao Mei in the first floor lounge, his hands shoved inside the sleeves.
Hao Mei sprinted downstairs. When he confirmed that person was really KO, in a blink of an eye, Hao Mei swiftly leaped into his arms.
"Why have you come over?" Hao Mei's tone was brimming with exceptional excitement and beamed at KO, "We're going back tomorrow anyway."
Instead of providing an explanation, KO said smoothly, "Then, I'm here to pick you up."
Hao Mei cheerfully drew him into a warm embrace and buried his head in the crook of KO's neck. Engulfed with happiness and relief, Hao Mei rubbed his face against KO's neck before asking, "Coming here at this time, aren't you cold on the road?"
"Not really." KO clasped his back. From the collar of Hao Mei's clothes, his hands journeyed downwards and followed the curve of Hao Mei's body, "You didn't wear your clothes properly."
He clearly remembered that he had warned Hao Mei repeatedly beforehand, yet Hao Mei only wore a long windbreaker at this moment. Beneath it, he was stark naked.
"Hehe." Hao Mei giggled at him before gluing himself to KO and said, "I was in a hurry when I went out. No time to wear anything else."
KO's hand bumped against his body. It was freezing that he couldn't help but to quiver. However, instead of rejecting KO's touch, he used even more strength to hug him. He drew near KO's ear and whispered seductively, "Yeah, I'm not wearing anything underneath."
"Ng." KO responded with a hum. And just like this, he tenderly embraced Hao Mei and walked towards the elevator.
