She remembered when she was young, Clear memories painted in joyful tones and hues filled her mind with happiness. Those were the best days of her life.
She could remember her parents' smiling faces as she held their hands and talked endlessly about life, with her tall and broad father that made bad dad jokes, and her mother, her soft voice as she sang her a quiet lullaby as she dozed off to sleep in her arms, she was complete.
She remembered her home, though not large, she was content. They lived out in the country side of Europe, in Germany.
She remembered the field in the back of her home, with tall pine and oak trees surrounding a vast field of tall grass and a mix of wild flowers to the old, dirt road that led her to it.
They lived in peace, growing their own food, fishing and hunting only what they needed.
She even remembers her one friend who lived on the other side of the luscious field. He was always smiling, a gentle, soothing smile that always left him to put her to ease.
But; nothing ever lasts forever, her included.
She remembered the loud knocks on the front door, she remembered the loud shouting from the person behind it,
She remembered the look her parents shared before her mother quickly pushed her into the closet, she remembered how her mother reassured her that everything would be ok if she stayed quiet.
She remembered her father and mother hugging her and telling her that they loved her, she remembered how she cried, pleading for them not to leave her there alone.
She remembered a tall, buff man breaking the door and rushing in, shouting to her parents,
She remembered him pulling out a gun,
She remembers the stillness in the room,
She remembers the pain of knowing what was coming, sadnesses' hands gripping her heart and squeezing it.
She remembers the loud bang of the shot,
She remembers their bodies hitting the floor,
She remembers as bright red blood pooled around them as they died,
She remembers it all,
She remembers.
