{Madeline's POV}
"H-his mate?" I asked with wide eyes. Didn't he just find his mate?
"Not his true mate, but he marked me, we mated, and we became mates. Even though I was a mere human, I was luna at one point. Not long though. After Megan killed his parents he became sort of like a shell with nothing on the inside. He was harsh and detached. I went for a checkup one day and figured out I had cancer. Our genetics aren't as strong as wolves are." She looked down at her hands sadly. I felt so sorry for this woman.
"I told him and he didn't take it well. He tried everything. Witches, doctors, but nothing worked. Until we heard about what happened to Ryker's sister. I didn't want to die. Call me selfish but I begged him to call Ryker. He hates vampires. They helped Megan kill his parents, and ever since then he can't stand them. He said if I did that to never come back, so I did and I never once looked back. It took me years to move on but I met Jax and everything got a lot better. I will always care for Mason, even if he doesn't care about me."
"Im so sorry." I said reaching across the table taking her hand in mine and she gave me a sad smile.
"Don't be. Im quite happy now. Plus, it was only fate working. He had a true mate out there, and he found her." She gave my hand a gentle squeeze and I smiled and pulled back.
"Now, who's Dante?" I asked and the girls laughed.
"Ryker really tells you nothing, huh?" I shook my head.
"Dante is my beloved." Lachlan spoke up and my eyes widened.
"It's like a mate to wolves." Makes sense.
"I was shot and lets just say he turned me before I could actually die." She said and I furrowed my brows.
"Are you not still with him?" She shook her head.
"He left me when Christian demanded the vampires to leave. I was hesitant on leaving with him because I loved these guys, but they talked me into it and by the time I made it to the border he had already left me. He didn't call, he didn't write, I was heartbroken." She responded and I frowned.
This night just went sappy.
"I would consider Ryker would have told you speaking he already marked you." Raven pointed out.
I blushed looking down. "I was a wimp when I went through heat. It helped with the pain." I said and Raven chuckled.
"Wait, have you guys even kissed yet?" Ashlynn asked.
"Not... a real full on kiss." I admitted and the girls stared agape at me.
"Oh it is on. Mission get Ryker whipped is in action. Okay here is the plan." Lachlan said leaning in and the others leaned in smirking.
Oh my god.
"Seduction is the best way to go." Vivian said and I scoffed.
"I am not seducing him! He'll kiss me when he is ready!" I defended but the shushed me.
"Okay then." I mumbled.

"Remember the plan." Ashlynn said pointing a finger at me as we walked up the steps of the mansion and I let out a laugh.
"Im not seducing him you guys." I said and the three girls groaned.
"Oh come on!" Raven said.
"He's your brother! Why are we even discussing this?" I asked with a small laughed.
"Brother shmuther." She waved off and I looked at her amused.
"Shmuther?" I asked and she shrugged.
"It rhymed."
"Seriously though, try and get him to open up to you at least." Vivian said and I nodded.
"Ill try. It's getting late I better head up." They nodded and we walked in the house going our separate directions.
"Going somewhere, cupcake?" I heard and smirked turning to see Grayson.
"May I help you?" I asked.
"Nah, just enjoying some amazing whiskey. Care to join me?" he asked holding up a second glass as he stood by the fireplace of the main foyer.
"I better not. I need to speak to Ryker." I said and he shrugged lifting the second glass to his mouth downing it in one swallow.
"Suit yourself." he said with a satisfied sound and turned back towards the fireplace.
"Tomorrow night?" I asked and he turned back looking at me with a small smirk.
"Looking forward to it." I nodded and turned heading towards the stairs to Ryker's floor.

As I entered the bedroom Ryker had just walked out of the closet in nothing but a pair of sweatpants. Goddess bless this man and his wonderful body.
"Have fun?" he asked as he walked to his side of the bed.
"Yeah." I said heading towards the bathroom to take a shower.
As I passed him he caught my arm. "Im sorry." he said and I turned looking at him.
"For what?" I asked.
"For keeping you in the dark. You deserve to know as much as I do. I've just been so busy lately and frustrated, but that is no excuse. I promise from now on to keep you updated." He said and I nodded looking away.
"Well the girls updated me on everything. Im sure nothing is a problem now." I said and went to step out of his grip but he pulled me back closer to him.
"You're mad?" he asked and I shook my head.
"Nope. Just tired and I want to shower." I said.
His hand went up and grasped my chin gently and turned my head to where I was looking at him. "I don't want you going to bed upset. Tell me what I did wrong. Ill fix it." he said and I shook my head.
"Ryker, I'm fine. I promise." I gave him a small smile and he sighed dropping his hand and wrapped them around my waist.
"Im not letting you go until you tell me what's wrong. If it wasn't about the whole thing today, then what is it? Mads, Im trying to fix this here. I need you to try too." I finally looked up to meet his eyes and he sighed.
"Goddess, I can never get tired of looking into your eyes. They're beautiful." He said with such an intense gaze I couldn't describe what emotion it was.
"They're dull." I said smiling and he shook his head. "Not to me." He brought his hand up to my cheek and ran his thumb across my cheek gently.
This is it. He's gonna kiss me. I know it. Maybe I didn't need a plan after all. I prepared myself for the kiss.
"I should let you shower." he said starting to step away. What the hell?
"Are you stupid?" I nearly yelled and he looked at me amused.
"Stupid about what?" He asked.
"I basically just offered myself up on a silver platter. The thumb on the cheek? Hand on the waist? You could have kissed me, but you didn't!" I said and he looked at me shocked yet still amused.
"You want me to kiss you?" He asked.
"Obviously!" He stared at me for a moment and I didn't know whether to feel embarrassed or confused. Then it hit me.
"Oh... OH! I understand now." I said and he gave me a confused look.
"Understand what?" he asked.
"Look. Ill have to find another guy, I mean it sucks, but our wolves are obviously drawn to one another, and sure I feel something for you. But... I understand. I had a friend like you once, he was awesome. I don't know what happened to him though." I said.
"What the hell are you going on about?"
"You're gay? It explains literally everything." I said and his eyes widened.
"Im not gay!" He yelled.
"Ryker, it's okay. We'll figure this out. I promise." In a flash he yanked me to him.
"Im not gay." He said sharply; his lips centimeters from mine.
"Then why haven't you-" I was cut off by his lips slamming onto mine.
"Im. Not. Gay." he repeated between each kiss.
I laughed against his lips but kissed him back nonetheless. He growled pulling me closer if possible.
His hands dropped from my waist to my thighs and hosted me up to wrap my legs around his waist. I was pressed against a wall within seconds as he attacked my lips with his once more.
I pulled away for air and he grinned at me.
"Care to express your thoughts now, love?" He asked.
"You're definitely not gay." I said and he gave me a wink.
"Alls you had to do was ask. I didn't want to rush anything." He said and I deadpanned.
"Im your mate and i've been here for almost two months."
"Touche." I rolled my eyes and he laughed and I untangle my legs from his waist and he sat me on my feet looking down at me.
"Like I said, you're beautiful." He said leaning down placing a soft kiss on my lips.
"You're not to bad yourself." I said and he scoffed.
"Please, I'm sexy as hell."
"And cocky." I said pushing him aside heading towards the bathroom.
"You didn't deny it though." He said and I turned a little and shot him a wink and quickly walked into the bathroom shutting the door and locked it.
My back laid against the door and I smiled biting my lip.
Yep, totally not gay.
