I gently let him go,
just as gently as I loved him.
He slipped away from my arms
in the middle of the night
but not before he engraves a single soft kiss
on my forehead.
I left my eyes closed,
with the fear to watch him leave.
Just then,
when I heard the soft lock of the door
did I let myself go entirely,
and break down, letting the tears fall.
