7. Engage with readers and other writers

If you do manage to get a vote, or a follow, or a comment, from a reader – thank them! Start up a conversation! People will invest in you more if they feel like they've gotten to know you a bit!

Also - read and feedback on other writer's stories from the same genre as you, and check out the clubs on the web version of the app to talk to other authors.

Note: this doesn't mean spamming other author's books with links to your book – this isn't nice and most people in the community don't look on it fondly! It means starting authentic conversations with people, sharing other people's work, feeding back, and generally supporting others.

Some of my first reads came from other undiscovered writers that I'd interacted with while reading their stories. Why? Because when they'd seen that I was reading their stories they decided to give mine a shot too.

Writers support each other!

Writers support other writers! Writers don't put other writers down! And the support you give is likely to come back to you in some form or other (even if it's not immediately obvious or in ways you expect).
