I feel like I trolled you guys, and I'm sorry XD please don't kill the writer. I'm sorry I took very loong to get this chapter out and I'm sure it didn't meet your expectations :( I'll try and make the upcoming ones better. This one actual didn't have much Kid in it either. I fail DX

A sound soul dwells within a sound mind, and sound body. That is what they were taught and what they were all to remember and work with, but these days Maka was doubting the very fabric that created that saying. It all had to do with three people; Death the Kid, Eevee Yule, and Curran Veils.

A sound soul. . .

Needs a sound mind. . .

It means the same thing to every student in this academy. Except one of the most well known duo of course.

Maka's eyes were on Eevee sitting on Professor Stein's desk at the very front of the class. Her eyes were blank and looking straight forwards as the class went on talking about the meister's body and how it worked. Eevee was covered in black marker from her to foot and it made her look like she had as many stitches as Professor Stein. Maybe having Eevee stick to him so Black Star and Kid to leave her alone was a bad idea.

“S-she looks like a dear in the headlight.” Maka sighed and lowered her head. “So much for a sound mind.”

“Heh, and body too,” Soul offered. “Eevee's about to get sliced open and her guts spilled out all over the floor before Kid gets back from his mission.”

“It's not funny, Soul.”

“Of course it is. Look,” he pointed at a laid out Eevee with a scalpel to her throat. “She looks ready to accept her fate. . . . should we stop him?”

A sound mind? Maka sighed and slammed her hands on the desk to catch the professor's attention. Which she did, as well as all the other students and Eevee.

“You can't dissect your students, Professor!” Maka ran down to the front and took Eevee by the arm. “You've done enough experimenting on Eevee!”

Stein gave them a weird and creepy large grin as they ran out the door with Soul and the others following behind them. They had never been so glad for the ringing of the bell before this day, and all the other students thought the same. No one wanted to see Eevee's guts all over the floor of the class room.

“I come to school,” she said as Maka was helping her wipe away the marker marks“and I become Dr. Stein's guinea pig.”

“Well, you weren't actually complaining when he was about to cut you open.” Soul laughed at her and the glare she gave him. “I'm starting to think that he's actually your favorite professor of all.”

Eevee didn't say anything for a long moment, but then high-fived Soul as she gave him the answer. “You learn what you need from the best and become greater than the best, right?”

“And you have guts to but your body on the line.” he grinned at her, but she didn't return it and simply gave him a knowing look that more-or-less meant she was grinning inside.

“You two,” Maka sighed. “Eevee, don't get pulled in with all of these dopes. Curran's already with them and we need a sane person to balance us meisters.”

Eevee nodded. “Yes, because we all know that Kid has his head on straight.”

“Were you trying to spill your guts to him,” Soul was grinning again, but also seemed to be winking at her. “That is one hell of a literal way of spilling your guts to the guy you're going on a date with.”

Somehow Eevee had managed to take off her shoe without Maka or Soul knowing and had hit Soul across the face with it before putting it back on her foot. Maka sighed once more and she had a feeling that she would be doing that all day. She just hoped Black Star didn't come barging in and make things far worse than they were already.

“So,” she said in a soft voice in case she stepped on a land mine. “Eevee, what are you going to wear for the date.”

“He's not back,” answered Eevee and she walked out the door of the clinic. “Why prepare for something that isn't going to happen. Dr. Stein was my second path to take when it came to the date, but I blew that chance when I didn't get dissected.”

“Does that mean you were gonna date Stein instead of Kid?” Soul asked her loving the fact that he was getting under her skin.

“No, stupid. I meant that he was going to be my excuse.” Maka stepped in between the both of them before they decided to solve the problem with a fight.

It's not like it hadn't happen before. When they first met something along these same lines happened and a fight almost broke out. Of course Soul had been going after Curran at the time, but was shocked to find out that Eevee could stand her own without him. Soul couldn't land a hit on Eevee because she was too fast, but it wasn't like Eevee did any damage to him as her hits were nothing compared to the resistance of this scythe blade.

“Soul's being an idiot, Maka.”

“Eevee just doesn't want to hear the truth. How does it feel to be the girlfriend of the son of the founder of the academy? You're so sly, Eevee, to hook up with Kid to get the best missions and to get excused from classes.”

“You see that shoe on your foot? Well, it's about to be shoved down your throat.”

Maka groaned at their bickering. Sure these two got along well enough to have a decent conversation, but their attitude with each other would change just as fast as those conversations they had and into something more chaotic. Of course most of what came out of their mouths was nothing but mere jokes, Maka still felt uncomfortable being in the middle of all of this.

There was a point, when they first met and Soul seemed to be interested in Eevee, that Maka actually believed she was not going to be Soul's partner. Compared to Eevee, Maka was simply a bookworm and useless when it came to fighting without Soul. Eevee at least could hold her own in a fight without Curran, and she was smart for someone who didn't like studying. Maybe she didn't match Maka's or Ox's scores, but she was still a smart student.

“Hey, Maka, why're you spacing out for?” Soul asked having given up on arguing with Eevee. “You were asking Eevee about her date, remember?”

“Oh, yeah.” Maka mumbled. “He'll be back, Eevee, and you know it. He wouldn't miss this even if his life depended on it.”

“I should give him a heart attack.”

Maka laughed nervously. “Don't do that. He might be weird and off in the head a bit, but he means well and I think he really likes you. He just wants to spend time with you.”

“He wants to kill me, that's what he wants to do.” Eevee answered. “Do you know that he came to my flat before leaving to his mission and insisted on rearranging our food. If one banana was on this side then one had to be on the opposite side. Needless to say we ended up going to bed without out supper that night, Curran and I.”

Soul laughed. “Why would you even invite him to your flat?”

“I didn't.” Eevee responded with a tired sigh. “Our flat now has the highest quality of Kid-Away security. Or I hope it does. I don't think putting chains against windows and putting a blockade of furniture in front of the doorway will help in any way.”

Soul's eye twitched at her word. “Well, if it doesn't, it'll sure give you time to run for your life.”

“Speaking of Curran,” Maka tried to change the subject before Eevee decided to give Kid a heart attack on their date. “Where's he been? I haven't seen him in a while now, and I thought he would be glued to you because of the incidents with Kid.”

Eevee shrugged her shoulders. “He's trying to study.”

“Trying?” Maka asked.

“Yes, but we all know that's a fail. He'll end up trying to cheat in the exam like Soul did that time he was stripped to his boxers.”

“Hey,” Soul protested. “That was a damn fine plan!”

“Yes, yes. And you look damn cool stripped off your clothes and seated in a freezing classroom. Did you get any answers down,” Eevee mocked him lightly.

“How many did you get?” Soul gave her a big grin.

“More than you I'm sure.”

Maka couldn't help but smile at the scene playing before her with Eevee and Soul. It had been a long time since Eevee spent time with them and she'd forgotten that she could get into fights easily with Soul and Black Star. Even with Curran missing she was still able to poke fun at the boys until they could take no more of it. With Curran here it would be even more of a mess, but it was still odd to see them apart.

The only time these two were apart were the times they needed privacy, but other than that they did everything together. Maybe it was do to Kid and his affectionate ways toward Eevee that had driven Curran away. But there was the fact of what Eevee said about him making sure Kid didn't cross the line in their flat to consider. Maybe Eevee was telling the truth about Curran trying to study, but he hated to study even more then Eevee did and that made her words very hard to believe.

“So, do you know where Kid is taking you?” Soul asked Eevee after the bickering had ended.

“To some place symmetrical?” Eevee wondered. “I'll suggest to the cafe so we can just have tea or coffee and get it over with.”

“Wasn't it a whole day,” Soul grinned, “If it starts today afternoon, then it has to end tomorrow afternoon, right?”

Maka groan. “Men.”

“Then we'll split the hours,” Eevee reasoned. “Twenty-four hours in a day. Three hours a day would be fine, but then that would split into. . .eight days. . .” her faced paled as Soul's grin grew larger. “He tricked me, and I didn't even notice it.”

Soul let out a loud laugh as Eevee hung her head in shame of how easily she had walked into a trap. Maka couldn't help but giggle at the fact that Eevee had figured out that Kid's plan had been to split the hours to make the perfect date by having the perfect number of days. Apparently Eevee knew that Kid would be wanting to split the hours by eight days and eight days only. No other division would work.

“You signed your death sentence, huh?” Soul asked with a laugh.

“If I don't make it to the academy tomorrow,” Eevee began to jog away from them and toward the library, but was still calling back to them. “Tell Lord Death his kid had something to do with my disappearance!”

“Eevee? Where are you going?!” Maka called after her. “Eevee?!”

“I'm going to find Curran!” she called back. “Don't worry, Maka, I'll make sure I keep my word to Kid!”

Soul grinned at Maka. “You thinking this is gonna end up bad?”

Maka pouted. “Something in my gut tells me that it is going to end up bad.”

But that was all Maka could speculate as Eevee disappeared in the distance and making her way to her weapon partner. Eevee was the type of person to keep a promise to whoever she made it to no matter how ridiculous it was. But she was know to cause trouble if she was placed with someone she didn't get along with. Like Black Star, for one.

Eevee didn't make it far from where she had been with Maka and Soul. She didn't even get anywhere near the library before she crashed into her weapon's chest and sent him flying back into the floor. Eevee, of course, was still on her feet and shaking her head for clarity as Curran said some choice curse words that could have made anyone blush.

“E-Eevee?!” he yelled at her as she helped him up. “What the hell are you still doing here?”

“The date got split in eight days.”

He stared at her. “What?”

Eevee sighed. “Kid said a twenty-four hour full day, but we can't do that so the hours will be split. Eight days was the out come.”

“Well, aren't you excited for the date even though she said you didn't want to go to begin with.” he shoved her to the side and began walking away. “What do you want, Eevee?”

Eevee walked close beside him, missing no step as he quicken his pace. Once in a wile he would look at her and glare, but seeing as this didn't bother Eevee at all, he looked away quickly. She didn't say a word and didn't leave his side as the walked down the road and arrived to a nearby small shop. Curran didn't say a word to the girl as she placed a bottle of grape juice with the thing he was about to buy.

“What is it?” he asked her with an annoyed edge to his voice. “And pay for your own stuff next time.”

Eevee didn't say a word and sipped at her drink while Curran was still giving her death glares. The day had been into days for Eevee, but it wasn't like he really cared for it. So she would go out on a date with Lord Death's son, big deal. She could use that chance to see if he had any weakness so if it came down for them to fight Kid they could win. Black Star had told him that it wasn't hard to coerce Kid into a fight.

“We won't be fighting Kid, Curran.” Eevee told him as if reading his mind. “Let someone else take on a death god.”

Curran scoffed. “The Eevee I knew before Kid showed up wouldn't have thought twice about showing how strong she was. He took our spot at the top!”

“ – you're starting to sound like Black Star,” Eevee told him, “It doesn't concern me who's the top meister in the academy. All we need to worry about is getting the job done. You'll be a death scythe, end of story.”

Curran cursed under his breath. “Whatever. Don't let you little crush on Kid make you forget about your duties. We were top student in the academy second only to Maka. Now we dropped.”

Eevee didn't seem to be faced by his words a bit and it drove Curran crazy. Of course he knew how Eevee was because they knew each other from way back, but her lack to show what she was really thinking irritated him. All Curran could do was wait and see Eevee's actions and deduce what she was thining. That was the reason why he was hating Kid at that very moment, because as soon as he showed up Eevee started decreasing in skills.

“I'm not crushing.” Eevee responded once again reading his mind. “He'll back away soon and then we can focus on our training and mission. But Lord Death gives the top mission to Kid now because. . .well because of obvious reasons.”

“Playing favorites?” Curran grinned.

“No stupid.” Eevee kicked him in the shin. “Lord Death picks the meister that has less risks to take. Do you know he blew up Anubis.”

“Don't care.” Curran answered.

Eevee seemed to be pouting, but it could be the lowering of the sun that was casting shadows over her face. She looked trouble by something and was walking slowly and unevenly, which was really weird since Eevee always balanced perfectly on both feet. Curran could swear she was dragging her feet now.

“Ask me already!” he snapped at her once they arrived at their flat and Eevee crash into his back. “I know you and how you act when you want to ask me something you consider stupid.”

“That's because you're supposed to be the stupid one of the pair.”

“Geez, thanks so much for the compliment, Eevee.” his eye twitched at her words. “Well?”

Eevee looked from once side of the room to the other as she placed what they had just bought on the small table. She wasn't going to ask him that easily, or maybe she was just thinking on how she should ask him. If she was taking this long it had to be something very serious. Something so delicate that she had to word it just right for him to help her out efficiently.

“Can you help me pick out some clothes for tonight?”

Or something really stupid.

“Dammit, Eevee! I thought it was something important,” Curran whispered to himself.

“I don't want to wear something that will cause Kid to jump on me again,” she said after running to her room and trowing everything she had on the bed. Unfortunately for Eevee, everything she had was clearly symmetrical. “Perfect.”

“You're not looking for perfection,” Curran called from the kitchen. “You looking for something that would get you harassed by the guy!”

The room had gone extremely quiet by the time Curran finished his dinner, Eevee having nothing as Kid was to take her to some place for that, or so Curran had told her. She hadn't come out of her room since she went into it. He was beginning to worry that she was freaking out about what do wear to the date like any other girl would. A vein was pulsing on his head as he tried to control his temper.

Curran kicked the door in after contemplating the possibilities of him actually winning a fight against Eevee. The possibilities were very slim. Eevee would never fight him just like he would never fight her. But he could dream of doing so if he found her like he had just found her now. Wrapped in a pink cotton towel, her hair down, and sitting on her knees waiting for him by looking at the door.

“Prepare my bath?” she asked and pointed out the door and to the bath room.

Curran hung his head and chanted some calming word in his mind. “You need to get that fear of yours fixed, Eevee.”

Eevee was still perched on her bed, sitting on her knees, and stretching her body to try and look out the door, but it was much to far for her to see him now. A handle was moved and the water started to fall into the tub. There was the loud sound of rushing water coming from outside Eevee's door as Curran opened the faucets fully.

The skin on Eevee's arms started to crawl, her body started to shake uncontrollably, and her eyes shut tightly as she bit on her lower lip. The sound of running water. It was a couple of feet away from her. Water. Running water in the flat. The sound was getting louder. Louder. Louder!

“Eevee, it'll be done in a – Eevee!”

Eevee was laid out on her bed in a semi fetal position with her hands held to her torso her knees brought up slightly but not enough to seem bent, and her head was hanging from the bed letting her brown hair fall to the floor. Curran had rushed in and was holding Eevee in his arms before her position made blood go to her head.

She was pale with a tad bit of blue on her face, but she looked to be fine and would be even better if she rested. The idiot, Curran thought to himself as he lifted her from the bed to push of the covers, she shouldn't have listen to the rushing water if she was going to pass out because of it. He sighed in frustration looking down at his partner.

“Dammit Eevee. Who the hell has potamophobia!?”

Curran was talking about Eevee's fear of running water. She was much more fearful of rivers, but hearing faucets with running water made her go insanely fearful of going into the room that was producing the sound. Curran thought she was getting better with it, but it was getting worse. She couldn't ever hear the water anymore even though she used to be able to see it.

Curran sighed, but their was a small smirk on his lips. “I guess we'll just have to call off your date with Kid, huh?”

Of course the unconscious girl didn't answer, but someone else did.

“My precious goddess Eevee!” Kid's voice came from the doorway of Eevee's room. “What have you done to my Eevee you fiend!?”

“Huh? How the hell did you get into our fla – ” Curran was kicked back into the wall by kid, making Eevee fly up into the air and then land neatly into his arms. “What the hell, Kid?! Get your hands off Eevee, can't you see she's in no condition to deal with you tonight?!”

“You filthy louse,” Kid said very seriously with a glare at Curran. “What did you do to her?”

“Nothing!”

“Eevee's body cannot be stained by the hands of man!”

Before Curran could recover from the kick, which didn't take that long actually, Kid had walked out the room with Eevee in his arms. Her eye lids had started to flutter when Kid carried her out and once Curran found them again, Eevee was fighting hard against being shoved into the rub of running water that was spilling over.

“Kid!”

“Let me go!” Eevee was fighting hand in hand with with Kid as she freaked about the water. “Let go! Kyah! It overflowing! Curran?! Let go of me, Kid!”

“Get. In. The. Water! I will not have your body tainted by another man!”

Eevee was forced back by Kid who seemed to be very determine to bathe her for some reason unknown to Curran, but it didn't go as expected. The water had gotten on the floor and as Eevee fought against Kid's strength, she slipped and fell back into the tub. She had grabbed Kid by the neck and dragged him in with her.

“Eevee!”

“Eevee?!” Kid mimicked Curran's cry for her. “That is not the proper way to take a bath!”

“You fool!” Curran punched him aside and made him crash onto the wall and causing a large whole that stopped the water from falling. “She's passed out and drowning because of you! You idiot, Eevee. . .”

To make things short and without wasting time with trivial matters, Kid, Lord Death's son, was actually forced to fear death by a half dressed Eevee. She, for a moment, was no longer his precious goddess but his own personal demon that had formed because of the push he had forced on her when facing running water. The flat was completely in ruins and Kid was smashed again a wall and tied down before Maka and Soul got there the next morning.

“What the hell happened here?” Soul asked a glaring Eevee sitting on the floor with a side ponytail watching Kid. “Are you trying to kill him?”

“No! The horror of my goddess! Being asymmetrical!”

“If she plays her cards right,” Curran came from a better built part of the flat. “He might just end his life himself.”

“AHH! You filthy swine! You caused this on my Eevee.”

Curran was as asymmetrical as ever with his hair in a brown mess, to colored eyes, a shirt with one long sleeve and the other torn at the shoulder. His shirt was not tucked from one side and tucked from the other, and his pants sagged a bit even though he was trying to hold them up with a side hanging belt with a red, uneven X on the lower side of it.

“You wrecked our home,” Eevee mumbled towards Kid. “We're going to have to sleep on the streets because of you.”

“My Eevee will never sleep on the streets!”

“You tried to drown me.”

“I didn't know you couldn't swim!”

“She can swim you moron,” Curran yelled at Kid, “She can't take running water though. That's why I was the one preparing her bath.”

Silence.

Kid's face turned pale as he looked at Curran.

“You. . .you don't deserve to be in this world!” Kid by passed Eevee who ended up on the floor and charged Curran. “You mean to say you've been seeing my Eevee when not decent?!”

Soul and Maka gaped at them.

“Eh? Not decent? You don't mean to say. . . .” Soul looked at Eevee and then at Curran and then back at Eevee. “You two? Heh, no way!”

“It's nothing like that.” Eevee pulled the hair tie and let her hair loose. “I simply cannot bother myself with preparing a bath, so Curran does it for me.”

“Like hell it goes down that way!” Curran yelled at her. “She's raving mad like Kid and goes all psycho when she sees or hears running water.”

“He's lying.” Eevee said with a straight face

Maka and Soul looked around the small flat and noticed that most of the damage had been done by water. The higher damage done looked to come from something that had probably been the bathroom. There was several Kid-sezed wholes on the wall and, well, basically the room looked to have been destroyed by a Black Star stampeed.

“Heh, guess Eevee can cause more damage on her own than we thought,” Soul pointed out to Maka. “Hell will break loose when Black Star hears about this.”

Maka groaned, “Don't you dare tell him about this.”

“I will make this up, Eevee,” Kid has her hand in both of his. “Please let me make it up to you.”

“Sure – ”

“ – by taking you to my house!”

Eevee stared at him attentively.

“Hell no.”

Kid all but fainted when Eeve told him that and then slapped his hands away.

“You already caused us our home. We'll find a place to stay, but as punishment. . .the date is off.”

“No!”

“My clothes are all soaked. . .”

“Don't worry, Eevee, you guys can stay at our place,” Maka offered before Kid made another offer. “You won't be a bother to us.”

“As long as you bring food and cook for us,” Soul grinned.

“And I'll make sure to mix rat poison into your food.” her eyes were shining with mockery.

Soul grin faltered. “Should I take that as a joke?”

“Knowing Eevee,” Curran's eye was twitching as he shoved Soul out the door, “You should be careful with anything she cooks.”

“You should be careful with her period.” Soul grinned. “Right, Kid?”

Kid was crying his eyes out as Eevee refused to acknowledge his existance.

“Eevee! ~”
