Devante's point of view.

Glaring at Savannah with a 'what the fuck' look, she had to open her big ass mouth, causing my relationship with Aiesha to take another step backward.

I was going to tell her about us sooner or later, but not right now when I already forgot about her birthday and her party.

"Aiesha wait up," I ran to catch up with her as she tried to get away from the problem I ultimately caused.

Aiesha," I tried again, pulling her arm, and stopping us in the middle of the McDonalds' parking lot.

Catching a break, I sat my hands on my knees, feeling the wind blowing through my shirt.

Shit. I forgot this girl ran track in middle school.

"Why would you do this to me?" She turned around with tears in her eyes.

Feeling and hearing the hurt in her voice, I messed up badly this time.

"I'm sorry," I tried wiping the wetness from her cheeks, but Aiesha only pushing my hands away with hers.

"I didn't know I was going to fall in love with her," I said truthfully to her. "We began talking and instantly clicked."

"If you want, we can still go out to celebrate your birthday," I tried to steer the conversation away from the situation at hand.

"You just don't get it," she gritted her teeth. "You know how she treated me, but you still gave her a chance. All I ask for you to do is to be real with me, but you couldn't even do that!"

"I don't care about the birthday party anymore, I'm just more hurt by your betrayal than anything else," she screamed at me as I looked down at the pavement.

"What can I do to make it up to you?" I asked as we stood in silence.

Shaking her head with a look of betrayal on her face, Aiesha walked away from me without saying another word.

Sagging my shoulders at the sight of her leaving and going to her car, I didn't like how we left things off with one another.

Feeling a presence beside me, I looked down to see the cause of my problems.

"That's my sister for you. She always wants to be dramatic and cause a scene," Savannah looked up at me and then sighed. "You know she's going to forgive you by tomorrow."

Looking up at the night sky, I knew my best friend like I knew the starting lineup for the Cleveland Cavaliers. "She won't forgive me for doing this to her."

"You might be right, but you know what? You can't worry about her. All you need to worry about is this pep rally Friday and the game afterward," Savannah wrapped her arms around my neck, placing light kisses on my lips.

"Maybe I should call her or go to her house?" I suggested as I inhaled her sweet perfume.

She threw her head back at my words. "For what? If she cared about you, she would see that this relationship between the both of us is harmless. She would still be here if she cared about you."

"Unlike her, I care about you."

Thinking over her words, maybe she was right.

If Aiesha cared about our friendship, she wouldn't act like a spoiled brat and accept my girlfriend no matter what.

Kissing Savannah on the lips for a final time, I realized that the person in front of me was the only who cared.

Friday.

Aiesha point of view.

Taking a seat in the bleachers as we all crowded into the gym for a special occasion, I rolled my eyes as they came across the cheerleaders.

With their short skirts and stupid crop tops, they did a cheer routine in the middle of the floor, earning a few howls and claps from the male population.

In my opinion, the cheer was a little bit too much for school.

It's alright to support your school with a cheer, but it doesn't mean you have to act like you an exotic dancer at a strip club, trying to make a few dollar bills.

There were a time and place for everything and school wasn't one of them.

As anyone could guess, Savannah was standing in front of the whole squad, automatically being herself and doing the most.

It wasn't herself to not be over the top and plainly dramatic.

"You'll think her mother wouldn't let her out of the house like that," an Asian girl spoke up from beside me with a sigh. "She looks like she got that damn shirt from Baby Gap two sizes too small."

Hearing the words from her mouth, I laughed harder than I should have, forming tears in my eyes.

It was kind of mean, but she wasn't exactly wrong either.

If there simply was a wrong move by Savannah, the top of her breasts wouldn't be the only thing that makes an appearance today.

"That was funny as I don't know what," I smiled at the dark haired girl with brown eyes. "You deserve the MVP for that."

"At least we're on the same page," she shrugged, digging into her purse for something important. "My name is Alexis by the way."

"Aiesha," I introduced myself with a smile, glad that I find someone to talk to after what happened a few days ago. "It's nice to meet you, Alexis."

"Same goes for here," she agreed, finding what she was looking for and putting it on her lips. "It's finally nice to have a conversation with someone at this school."

"Oh, you're new?"

"My first day here actually," she handed me her schedule for this semester. "Do we have any classes together?"

Scanning my eyes over the yellow piece of paper, I nodded my head at her after awhile. "We have second block and lunch together."

"Nice," she took the paper from my hand. "I'm glad I found you. I was afraid of being lonely at this school."

Smiling, she was genuinely a nice person. "I'll show you around the school when we have time today if you haven't already."

"That'll be cool," she nodded as we turned our heads to our principal who was now standing where the cheerleaders were a few minutes ago with a mic in hand.

Our first game was tonight against our arch rivals, Mack Jones High School and what better way to get all of us excited with a pep rally.

Waiting for the crowd noise to die down, the principal of North Jefferson High School scanned the gym, smiling at how we showed our school spirit.

From blue and white pom poms to the silly strings being sprayed by the upperclassmen, we knew how to throw a party if we needed to.

Tapping the mic lightly to get our attention, Mr. Jackson put it up to his mouth. "So now without further or do ladies and gentlemen, I bring to you all the 2017-2018 varsity basketball team!"

Popping the gum bubble in my mouth, I sighed heavily, watching the whole basketball team enter the gym in all their glory.

With Devante being the starter and only senior on the team, he was the one getting the crowd and team pumped.

Taking the mic from Mr. Jackson, Devante smiled at the crowd.

"How yall doing?" Devante yelled.

Hearing our response in screams, he chuckled before settling his eyes on the cheerleading squad.

"Before I introduce you guys to the new members of this year's team," he gestured to the new faces. "I first want to give special thanks to a person who has helped me get this far."

Taking a break from chewing my gum, I perked up at his statement, wanting to hear what this two timing bastard had to say.

"You might know her or you might not, but I want to thank this girl right here for supporting me and being there for me," Devante pointed to my sister, telling her to come here and stand beside him.

"She was the one that had my back" he paused before continuing. "And I just wanted to say that without her, I wouldn't be the best that I could be on and off the court."

Flicking the dirt from the inside of my nails, he hasn't been with this girl for a whole month, but acted like she been there since the beginning.

Finally realizing that he didn't appreciate my support or didn't care about my feelings, I felt that I needed to stop worrying about him and worry more about myself for now on.

"They seem like the perfect couple," Alexis commented as we all watched them share a kiss, showing their affection for one another.

"I can't compete with her anymore," I smiled sadly, hooding my eyes with my lashes.  "She took the last person other than my mom away from me."

"What do you mean?" she realized what I said after awhile of not getting it.

Looking around the gym and noticing the smiles on people's faces, I focused back on Alexis.

"She won," I stated simply.
