I was floating through the dark emptiness, I don’t know what or where this place is, but one thing is certain, I can’t keep my thoughts, I keep tuning in and out, as if this place wills me not to think. It’s easier not to fight it, since I can’t quite grasp what was going on around me, so I just let myself succumbed to the dark’s will-to peace, where nothing is important but rest-. I don’t know how long I stayed here, floating on to nothingness but then I can hear sounds, irritating sounds that pierces through my peace. I can feel a pull, to where, I don’t know. I floated to where this pull brings me and I noticed that as I came nearer, the sounds grew louder. I felt chaos around me, my body itches, my finger twitches, screams and shouts can be heard from all directions and then I realized that it was all coming from around me and voices - I could hear voices- what were they saying? I thought numbly. I slowly realized that I was no longer in that dark place, nor peace is around me when I saw light behind my closed lids. ‘Come on body frigging move’, I slowly opened my eyes, and was assaulted by bright light, I winced and waited, as my eyes soon adjusted I found myself staring into the eyes of that girl from before-what was her name?…Jaiden? yes, it was Jaiden. My consciousness agreed.
I sat up and saw a bunch of people crowding around me I have no idea what happened or what was happening. I glanced around and saw Phillip sitting on top of a pile of bodies, which were beat up pretty badly. Why is he sitting there? What have they done to make Phillip beat them up? I mused. It doesn’t make sense. I turned back to the other group of people staring at me with mouths agape. Then in the distance, I heard someone talking and discovered that it was Jaiden and that other girl, Shannon.
“What the fuck is going on here,” Jaiden said befuddled “did everyone else saw what I just saw? This kid got his chest sliced open and he’s still alive! I don’t know many people who could do that.” Jaiden continued. At first I was puzzled of what she was saying, I told you I don’t have a damn clue of what’s happening.
“You think he’s an angel? They’re the only ones I know of who have that ability. Maybe that could explain why he healed so quickly and was still alive?” Shannon asked, sharing her theory.
“That would explain why I felt like hitting the kid when he bumped into me at the classroom.” Jaiden snickered.
“Jaiden you should be kind enough to thank him, you’re indebted to him. He saved your life, and that’s not true. We both know that you want to hit everyone when they bump into you.” Shannon scolded her.
“Yeah, but when he bumped onto me, I actually took a swing at him instead of walking off that’s how much he pissed me off, not many people can do that and angels are one of them.” Jaiden said, ignoring the first part Shannon had said.
“Yeah. Well if he was an angel, how come he jumped in the way to save you, when he clearly saw what you were back at the class room, when you threw Steven into the wall”.
Silence trailed after Shannon’s words so I took this chance to say, “Oi random people. I’m right here and I can hear every word you two are saying, so if you don’t mind me asking what the fuck is going on here and what the fuck are you guys.”
The response they gave me was something I really did not expect. They all started laughing there asses off and they didn't stop there, some of them started rolling on the ground laughing. Then Jaiden stepped forward and said to me, “What are you talking about? We’re all ‘freaks,’” She quoted the ‘freaks’ with her fingers and snickered. “or better yet, Monsters that’s the kind word for us. We are all Monsters, including you.”
“No. No. Not like you, I'm normal. I'm human I can’t do any of that crazy ass shit.” I said, bewildered. There was laughter again, just that really creepy laughter, “You think you’re human? Why do you think you’re still alive?” She asked.
It was about that time that I started to remember what had happened to me before I passed out, to my horror, memories flooded to me, the attack and everything, the vast nothingness which I now realized was an abyss. Everything perfectly makes sense. I went rigid, and quickly looked down at my chest only to find my shirt with a giant rip down the front and blood all over it, but on closer inspection I found that there was not even a scratch on me. I was so scared; I already doubt my sanity and even my humanity. If ever-and that’s a big IF- what they’re saying is true, what am I? Am I really the boy I thought I knew? The moment I went silent and the two girls started bickering again.
I had enough of this craziness. I stood up and made a move to leave when a sword flied inches from me into the wall. I stopped and stared for a moment, staring at the familiar sword protruding on the wall. I realized that it was the same sword that almost killed me. I looked for the person who threw it and saw Jaiden with eyes as black as night glaring at me.
"And just where do you think you’re going?" she asked me, chills running up my back as I saw her dark eyes glistened wickedly.
“Oh no, nowhere, just here.” I said glumly, sitting back down staring at the floor. I sighed; obviously I was not allowed to leave either.
As I was waiting for them pass judgment on me, I felt a sudden shift in the air. I looked up to see what was happening when I saw a large group of students standing in front of us. Another boy emerged from the group; this one was different from the others which is obviously pointed out that he was their leader. He exerted some kind of aura that compels anyone to fear him and even obey his commands; surprisingly, it seemed to work on these kids because none of them even tried to look at him in the eye as he walked past them.
"So, I heard you messed up some of my boys pretty badly,” The leader said, chuckling at himself. “Now, now, what I’m I supposed to do about that huh?”
I glanced at Jaiden, trying to gauge her reaction but I came up blank. She was expressionless.
“Thanks for the flattery, but it wouldn’t be fair if I take all the credit.” She pointed at Phillip who was snoring. I know, I couldn’t believe it myself, here in the edge of trouble Phillip still found a time to sleep. I was horrified once I finished scanning the scene before me, there was not one teacher around the area to stop the trouble and it’s up to us whether to fight or to flight.
I frowned, knowing that this isn’t going to be a fair fight and they knew they have an advantage. They kept creeping closer, no sooner, they had surrounded us and there was nowhere to run it felt like a predator cornering its prey.
“Do you think we should wake Phillip up and get him to help?" Shannon asked eyeing the group before us.
"What and let him have all of the fun? No fucking way in hell, that's what’s going to happen if you woke him up so make sure that none of them wakes him from his nap, or there will be a fucking hell to pay!.” Jaiden threatened.
Three people lunged for Phillip but before they reached him a giant black wolf appeared from nowhere and ripped them to shreds. I stood there opened mouthed, hair standing on the back of my neck. I was so sure that that wolf looks exactly like that wolf who tried to eat me the other day.
I scrunched up my face, if that’s the same fucking wolf that tried to eat me the other day, why the hell was it trying to save Phillip?
I gasped as realization hit me, Jaiden had asked Shannon to look after Phillip so he would not wake up from his nap and this wolf could be Shannon or Jaiden’s pet OR it could be Shannon herself. I shuddered at my on mulling. The wolf looked at me as if it knew I was thinking about it and morphed into a human body which turned out to be Shannon. She casually waved.
“Sorry about trying to eat you the other day. I wasn’t able to take any breakfast so I was terribly hungry and with my animal brain, I thought you might be a quick snack.” She shouted over the turmoil, smiling apologetically at me.
I stood there shocked and was about to retort something smart when I suddenly heard that same strange voice from inside my head before, this time it was talking to me.
“Watch out little birdie or you might get your wings clipped by that sword. I suggest you duck before it hits you.” As if on cue the world around me slowed down to a near stop. I turned on my heels and to my horror; I found out that there was in fact someone trying to impale me from the back with a sword. I took in my surroundings and noticed that the world hadn’t stopped, it was simply moving at a very slow pace. In the moment, I decided to get out of there, but when I turned to go I saw a new obstacle standing in the way of my escape. The moment my eyes landed on the little girl, something happened inside me. I don’t know exactly what but it was as if something deep within me was awakened from its deep slumber.
The little girl vanished and the world speed back up to its normal pace, just in time for me to turn around to see Jaiden fall to the ground. The leader raised his sword, poised in the motion of stabbing her. I ran, I ran as fast as I could, towards her as if hell itself was nipping at my heels. Even though she tried to hit me, I was going to save her, which surprised me; I guess I really can’t hold a grudge huh.
I knew I was not going to make it, and I fear I knew that she was going to die. At that moment, the thing that was awakened inside me a while ago, snapped and broke loose. One moment I was running towards Jaiden trying to dive on front of the sword, then the next I was standing in front of her.
I don’t have the slightest clue of how I did it, or how I got there, it’s like I teleported in front of her. The leader jumped a bit, surprise etched across his face –and buddy you’re not the only one. I am too. But this initial shock only lasted for a scant of time before he continues his strike that was postponed due to my appearance in front of him.
I watch the blade descend on me and boy I felt the sense of déjà vu but I have a feeling this time I’ll die, for real. It didn’t matter, really, because I knew I had to protect Jaiden who was still on the ground, staring dazedly and completely defenseless. I closed my and waited for the blade to hit but of course, it never happened.
I was staring cross-eyed at the sword hanging inches away from my face. I don’t know how it happened but it was already like that the moment I opened my eyes, I glanced at the leader and the look on his face was priceless. It was a look of sheer confusion as if he really did not quite know what was happening-and he was not alone.
I looked at Jaiden behind me to check if she was okay but a mix of feeling are written on her face, I can’t read it.
“What’s wrong?” I asked forgetting for a moment that a sword was hanging precariously near my shoulder, for I have turned my face away. “I didn’t know you were a demon as well.” Jaiden said dumbstruck.
“What do you mean? I told you for the last time I’m human.” I insisted. “Have you looked on the mirror lately mate?” she asked laughing then lifted up a piece of glass.
What I saw; shocked me to my bones, it was pure black as if it was dipped in black ink.
Which looks very similar to……
“Wait, your eyes are black too, so does that mean you’re a demon as well?” I asked her.
She never got a moment to answer or if she did, I didn’t heard what she said, because at that moment a searing pain attacked my shoulder. I slowly turned my head and saw the reason of the pain, there was a sword lodge on my left shoulder. I ripped it out and faced my attacker, it was only then did I notice that we were alone, the rest of the gang was taken out and the leader was the only one left standing.
I also noticed Shannon nipping at one guy who was stuck up the tree –in her wolf form. I can see that she was really disappointed that he had not fallen down yet. I was puzzled by the disappearance of the whole gang, then my vision narrowed at the answer to my questions, Phillip woke up from his nap and had made a neat pile of bodies and was now walking towards me.
I held up my hand towards him, signaling him to stop. “This one is mine.”I said.
A massive grin spread across the leader’s face, “You foolish person, do you think you can take on me alone? Do pray tell what your plans are.” He chided. A burst of energy emerged from him his aura burning, before he raised his sword again. He swung his sword forcefully and what happened next terrified yet awed everyone around me. My bare hand met his sword, stopping it from destroying me. I smiled smugly when his grin disappeared immediately.
“Do you have any idea how long I tried to keep my temperature in check? I have not been angry this past few weeks, months even. Scared; yes. Confused; yes. Pissed off; maybe, but not angry. Congratulations, you have officially, successfully pissed me off.” I said smiling deviously, and snapped his sword in half.
He jumped back in terror, but maintained his ground. I can see that he was acting tough when he’s actually scared. It was in this moment when I felt something stirring inside me again but this time it was nothing like I have experienced or ever felt before. It built and built until I can’t contain it any more, it erupted upwards and since we were standing close to each other, my aura engulfed his like a flaring fire and turned the blue sky black. This was the most terrifying thing I had ever seen, but man do I enjoy it.
I continiously stepped towards him, each step taking too much force and pressure, shattering the ground that I walked on.
My aura suddenly ceased its flaring around me for it had gathered on my right fist, cocooning it with crackling energy. When I saw I was near enough to hit, I took it, swinging my fist to his squared jaw. The power of my punch was horrifyingly amazing because one moment he was there, then the next he was flying through the air, taking three buildings with him along the way. I dropped to my knees and groaned as pain started taking its toll on me. Darkness was slowly creeping from the corner of my eyes
Jaiden was now on her feat moving towards me with a really confused look on her face. I blacked out for a moment but when I opened my eyes what a saw shocked me everyone had taken on a different appearance, Jaiden had beautiful black wings that where absolutely massive, Phillip had a red aura around him and I swear I saw fangs as he was walking towards me now.
Shannon who had finally shaken the tree enough to make that guy fall was now gnawing on his arm was now to me but her aura was different again displaying multiple colours I then heard a voice turned back to in front of me only to find Jaiden,” why” she asked, ”why did you save me even though I tried to hit you and was mean to you, twice today you have saved me but why did you say you where human when you are clearly a demon and how did you regenerate that wound when you’re not angel”, she continued on but I didn’t listen I just smiled at her and said something that really freaked her out.
” He he I see you little birdy those wings you have there are really beautiful they defiantly match your eyes that’s for sure but I think that your aura needs a little work, he I think I'm might actually be seeing the real world for the first time ” I said coughing in to my hand there was blood on it I guess that wasn’t a good thing, “you can see what I really are a weird one at least tell me what you are before you die”, “he he i will never tell you” then I fell to the ground and the world went black again but I could still hear someone and when I opened my eyes I was left facing this little girl again, only this time she was smiling then she said something that I did not expect to hear in a million years…….
