Chapter 34
The Way it's Supposed to Be
"It's gonna get harder before it gets easier, but it will get better, you've just gotta make it through the hard stuff first."
The next few days were crazy- John called me and we set up a few local concerts. They went pretty well, actually. It was nice to know that all of my friends were supporting me. A little while after I performed my last show, I got a call from Andrew.
"Hello?"
"Hey, Katie. How are things?" he asked.
"Pretty good! I've been doing a few local concerts and those went really well."
"Yeah, Zach told me. That's good, though. Enjoying your time back at home?"
"Definitely," I started. "I love touring, but it's nice to have some time off."
"Yeah, same with me. Anyways, listen. I need to ask you a favor," he said.
"Okay, what?"
"So, Zach's been... not himself lately. And I don't know why. I'm thinking it might have something to do with the fact that he hasn't seen you in three weeks, or maybe it's the fact that we just can't seem to find the right member to join us, but I think it's mostly because of you."
"Okay... And?"
"And... I bought you a ticket to fly out to South Carolina to come visit."
"Um... I'd love to, but Zach lives in Pennsylvania..."
"I know, but I'm having a party in a couple of days, and Zach's coming, and he really wanted you to come but didn't want to ruin your plans with all your friends back home. So, I decided to take matters into my own hands, and invited you myself. You've got two days to get ready, flight leaves on Thursday morning," Andrew said.
"Andrew... I can't accept this."
"Too late, you have to. I'm counting on you- Zach's counting on you."
I sighed. "I guess."
"So, Zach's staying at my house which means you obviously can't if we want it to be a surprise. I've got a hotel set up for you and everything. It's a really nice one, too, and I have your rides arranged so you don't have to worry about anything. It's all planned out."
"Seriously, Andrew, you're amazing. Thank you so much."
"You're welcome. I'll see you Thursday, then. I'm going to drive you to your hotel, and then I have a ride arranged for you Friday night."
"Thanks again, Andrew. See you soon."
"Bye," he said. I hit 'end' on my phone and set it down next to me. I decided to get up and start packing now- I couldn't wait to see Zach and Andrew again. (Mostly Zach, but... you know.) I know Zach and I haven't been doing it for long, but long-distance is hard. I couldn't wait to see Zach again and make everything the way it was supposed to be...
