Jade
I woke up in bed with the light from the sun dead in my face. I covered up with the blanket and peeked out to see that Sapphire had already had Tylenol and a water bottle waiting for me. I grabbed them up and downed the pills taking a long gulp of water. What all did I drink last night? I sat up with my eyes closed realizing that I slept in only my underwear and that Tommy Hilfiger tube top.
I halfheartedly chuckled to myself picking up my overalls off of the floor that were sitting next to ... Football cleats. This is not my room. I looked around not recognizing my environment. All I knew was that I got faded as fuck last night and I remember Zion helping me to bed.
This is their room. Fuck! They are some sneaky ass demons.
A deep groan from the other side of the room damn near made my bladder drop. Eli. Why am I so nervous? It's not like we were in bed together. Just in the same room. But I'm damn near naked. He's seen me naked before I think. He shuffled around in his bed until he started mumbling and cussing at the sunlight. "Z, what the hell I tell you about leavin' those curtains open? The sun just cock blocked me in my own damn dream."
"Huh?" I said lowly.
He smacked his lips, "Don't start. I already know you just gon' say, "Then go get ya girl and quit bein' a pussy. You over here havin' wet dreams about her, but don't wanna act on it." Imma act on it one day. You know I still got shit to handle." I slowly got up and closed the blinds and curtains. I wanted him to keep talking. "Thank you, Ol' Yella," he chuckled. "You must be hungover too. You're welcome for sitting the Tylenol by you."
"Yeah," I mumbled. I slowly got back in the bed and covered my head facing away from Eli's view. This was awkward, but it seemed the only way I would get any answers from him. I would ask him sometimes, but I just got short, blunt answers. No results.
Eli sighed, "Man, I need to talk to Jade." I perked the hell up and was all ears at this point. "I gotta tell her about his baby situation wit Fallon. I talked to ol' fuck boy Dorian last night and he told me some disturbing ass shit. Fallon ass not even pregnant and never was. He said she was tryna trap me into a baby because she knew she couldn't trap him. Dassit," he chuckled. "I don't have to wait no more to get my girl. Hopefully she'll even talk to me though. I been fucked up."
"Eh," I gave a short response trying to deepen my voice. I was able to grab my phone from my overalls and decided to answer Eli's prayers.
Me: Elias can we talk? I mean, if you want to? Library at 3?
I heard his phone ding with a notification right after I sent my message and it sounded like he got all the way up. "Bruh, she tryna meet up," he excitedly yelped. I almost blew my cover by laughing. "I'm about to go shower and I'll meet up with yo drunk ass later." He then slammed the door to the room and I hurriedly got up so I could do the same. I gave myself a couple hours to get ready.
I jumped into my overalls and snatched up my shoes that were haphazardly thrown on the floor. I gave myself a couple minutes before exiting the room and luckily the halls were still pretty empty. I headed straight for the stairs so I could get upstairs to my floor. While heading up the two flights I had to climb, I got a message from Eli.
Dean-O: Thank you for taking the time to talk to me after all the shit I been on. Can't wait to see you.
I smirked at my phone nearly swooning over the instant endorphin release I felt within myself. I almost forgot my head was still hurting from all of the alcohol I drank the night before. Once I made it to my room, I swung the door open to reveal that no one was even here. I shrugged off the absence of my roommate and grabbed up some clothes to shower.
"Ew, you walkin' around funky and shit," I heard a cackle behind me as I locked the door to my room. I rolled my eyes with a grin spotting that it was only Drew talking shit.
I stuck my tongue out, "I tapped out last night and just woke up. I can't bounce back like I used to."
He scoffed and licked his lips, "But what else happened last night? You was really on one after that battle."
"Tuh, we won. That's why I was hype. Drinking wit my girls and dancin' on tables is nothin' new to me," I whipped my hair over my shoulder.
He eyed me leaning in his doorframe, "So you was a stripper? Those was stripper moves you was doin' up dea'."
"No," I gaffawed. "I know some strippers that taught me a lil sumn sumn. Nothing major."
He nodded, "Aight. I forgot H-town have all'em strip clubs and shit. You musta grew up hood to personally know some."
"How would you know about Houston strippers?"
He shrugged, "Lived there before my mama moved us to Cali. Still got some ties."
I nodded, "This conversation was informational, but I gotta get goin'. Got somewhere to be in like an hour."
"Stay away from strangers, ma," he chuckled closing the door. I smirked to myself and made my way to shower and get changed.

"So this is what it had to come to?" I questioned leaning back in the chair with my arms folded. "You lyin' to me like it's cool, Eli. We were supposed to be tryin' to fix whateva it is we are and you steady lyin'."
He sighed heavily, "What am I supposedly lyin' about now? I told you everything that happened wit Fallon. Even what ya fuck made ass baby daddy told me about her. What else I gotta say?!" He stood up from his chair causing a scene with his dramatic ass. He knows for a fact I'm petty as hell. This is what he gets for calling me a midget.
I chuckled to myself at this entertainment, "Now, Eli. I know it gotta be more than that as to why you been shuttin' me out. Talk to me like I'm Zion or Kenyon. Hell, talk to me like I'm ya mama. Come sit on mama lap and tell me what's goin' on in that nappy head of yours," I patted my lap teasing.
He huffed and sat back in his chair after he picked it up. "You don't want me to talk to you like you my mama. I got some words for her."
"Vent then," I shrugged. "This is what I'm here for. You vent to me and I'll vent to you." He looked in my eyes flexing his jaw.
"My mama a liar. She been tellin' me and Fire all this time that our pops was locked up for murder when in reality the nigga upped and left us. He gotta whole ass family wit a broad like seven years older than me. They gotta four year old lil girl," he smiled gently. "She remind me of how Fire looked when she was a lil girl."
I smiled and put my hands in his knees closing in the shrinking gap between us, "When'd you find this out?"
"Christmas," he sighed. "Sapphire tried to kill our pops too," he cheesed and tilted his head back. "I almost let her."
I sat straight up again trying to imagine Sapphire pouncing on a grown man trying to murder him. The goofy image I had in my head caused me to laugh out loud disrupting the library. "You two are gonna have to leave. You're being quite disruptive," the librarian came over to us scolding.
"Yes ma'am," I sighed and stood.
Eli smacked his lips, "We the only two people here besides you. Who are we disrupting exactly? Jesus? He know my heart."
I slapped his arm, "Let us not play wit the Lord. Come on."
"Be glad my girl want me to come with her. I would set all these books on fire," he mugged playfully. The librarian took him seriously however, and ran off behind her desk once again.
I got behind him and started pushing him out of the door, "He's kidding. I'm not even his girl," I shook my head.
When we made it out onto the front steps, he went down a couple so we were face to face, "Who said you weren't mine?" he smirked. Before I could come up with a smart remark to clap back with, he abruptly crashed his lips onto mine allowing the both of us to act out the way we felt. His kiss was more aggressive than mine, but I didn't mind it. I loved it. "Told you, you mine."
Kenyon
Don't run. I mouthed to the dude that was in the diner booth sitting across from me. I nodded toward the door where Buck stood talking to one of the waitresses as a distraction. "So where's the money you owe?" I started the real conversation.
"What money? The twins got all I owed them. I swear I'm not holding out." the guy trembled in front of me. I smirked to myself because this was always the funniest part of my day. The twins would have me be the "muscle" when someone weak, like this fool, owed them money. It was usually the family oriented crackheads that I had to scare.
"You were given two kilos right?" I questioned taking his drink the waitress just sat down and took a sip. The man nodded with a sense of urgency. "So why the hell you only give up forty-five Gs? That don't add up to me. Waitress?!"
The voluptuous waitress strutted her way over and smiled, "What can I help you with today, handsome?"
"I just have a bit of a math question for you," I started. "Looking at your menu, your chicken dinner is ten dollars, right?"
"Right," she nodded.
"Ok, so your boss shows that twenty chicken dinners were made that shift, but only has one hundred dollars in the til. Does that sound right?" I sarcastically pondered.
She smacked her lips, "I mean, no. That has to mean someone is either stealing the money or stealing the food."
"Right," I snapped. "Thank you so much for your time, sweetheart. You have a wonderful rest of your day."
"Uh huh," she walked away.
I nodded, "Get the point, my man? Stealin' from the twins is stealin' from me. I rely on every single red cent I earn. Since you like to play wit my money though," I shrugged, "Good luck wit the rest of ya life. It should be over in about seven seconds."
I held my hands up with a grin on my face as the bullet shattered the glass window beside us and forced it's way through the man's skull. Always gotta stay true to the money that goes in my pockets. I nonchalantly stood from my seat as the patrons in the diner continued dining without a care in the world. We're in the hood; things like this happen too often around here.
"Who ya shooter?" I questioned Buck as we made our way to our respective vehicles.
He smirked in my direction, "You'on even wanna know, young. He an OG; that's all you need to know." I nodded as he tossed a brown paper bag to me. "I'll call next time I need you, aight?"
"Aight, bro. Make it home to ya moms," I chuckled getting into my car. He lifted his middle finger out of the window as he sped off in his G-Class.
Before I could start my car I heard someone call my name causing me to kill the engine and sigh. My job was done here, man. I'm tryna shake before the police get here. "Kenyon! Come'ere!" I heard the dude yell again.
"What?!" I groaned pulling myself from my seat. The sight before me only made me smack my lips and hop back in the car. "Nah man," I sighed backing up. He stood there mugging me to hell because he believes that I haven't been doing my job keeping his "prized possession" safe. I'm keep things as safe as I can.
He jumped in a car beside me and ended up following me to my next destination. I knew how persistent he was, so I just let him follow. He knew where I laid my head at night, so why run from a nigga that kills for a living?
I stopped off at the back of a gas station out of view of the cameras. He pulled up beside me and grinned rolling his window down, "You smart enough not to run I see."
I got out of the car going over to him, "What is it now, G?"
"Make me chop you in the throat if you want to, boy! You betta fix the octave of ya voice before you be fuckin' silent," he sipped his golden drink. "How is everythang?"
"Good," I nodded. "I'm nobody's parent, man. You gon' have to let her live and things, G. She grown and got a good head on her shoulders. She may turn up sometimes, and that's when I'll come in for the save."
He scoffed and turned in his seat, "Kenyon jAhmier Lane, son of Terrance jAhmar Lane, you are my nephew just like those knuckle head ass twins. I'll beat ya ass like Terrance and ya mama didn't do too. I asked you to do one thing. If you can't do it, the same shit that happened in the diner? I can do that shit to you with none of my heart in it. Please call my bluff." This nigga knows he is not bluffing. I've heard plenty of stories on how Uncle G slaughtered dudes for even something as petty as one hundred dollars. Sniping that dude in the diner was just light work for him. "So we watchin' ova ya cousin, right?"
"Yes sir," I sighed. "I'll keep everybody away from Jade. What if she were to want a boyfriend though?"
"If you don't approve of the nigga and send me his background, keep the nigga away."
"Gotchu, Unc," I sighed going back to my car to head back to campus. It gotta be another way to do things out here. Yes I'm going to college but, what happens after that? What if I don't get the dream job I want? My only other choice would be to get in deeper with the family business. Nobody even knows I'm family other than uncle Gerald and my pops. The twins just think I'm a nigga they just so happened to find my Freshman year of college.
I got y'all next chapter. This is just like a short, informational filler. Vote, comment and things. 😀
