Again loves, this isn't my writing.
Niall wouldn't say that his school days were hard. He usually got great grades, and paid attention to what his teachers had to say. The biggest struggle he had with getting through the day was Algebra.
And that wasn't normally too much of a struggle either.
But Niall knew it was going to be a pretty hard day when he woke up with his head in the bin. Besides feeling totally empty after the disgusting action, he also felt entirely weakened. He knew his brother wouldn't be in for another hour so he laid back against his headboard. His eyes itched from the involuntary tears and he couldn't decide if he was hot or cold.
When he heard the knock on his door, he readied himself for his brother.
In popped Zayn, still in his sweatpants and looking tired. "You're up already?" He was never up at this time and to see him up was obviously a shock to Zayn.
"Zaynie..." Niall whimpered, making grabby hands for him. He figured even a freshman in high school could be childish if they're sick. "I think I'm ill."
"Oh come on, turd. No shows this morning. I'm not in the mood." Niall's heart sunk. How could his brother not believe him? Didn't he look absolutely disgusting?
"B-but..." Suddenly he felt like crying. His whole body hurt and no one was going to believe him if he said he was sick. Worse yet, Niall felt his stomach fighting to get out again.
"Get dressed, turd. Dad made pancakes." Niall stood, a dizzy feeling eating away at his vision. He stomach tumbled side-over-side as he grabbed a new pair of sweatpants and a blue sweatshirt.
The smell of pancakes hit Niall like a brick. His stomach rolled, forcing him to stumble blindly towards the hall bathroom. It was hot and stuffy in the bathroom, making it even more difficult for Niall to stop throwing up. "Ni, come get some breakfast, Bug!"
Niall sat back against the wall and took a shaky breath, wiping his mouth with the back of his hand.
"C-coming, dad," Niall weakly said. He realized after the words came out that it was practically impossible for his dad to have heard him.
"Good morning, ladybug," Liam pressed a kiss to Niall's hair. "Oh! You're sweating, take that sweatshirt off." Liam patted Niall towards his chair and prepared the blonde's plate of pancakes. "No, 'm cold." He protested. Liam glanced off at the blond, trying to see if he was going to make a move to actually listen, or if he was actually cold.
"Hi, daddy!" Harry marched into the kitchen with his papa before Liam could make sure Niall was okay. "Hello, curly." Liam handed off a plate of syrup drenched pancakes. And before another thought of Niall entered Liam's mind, he had to make the kids' lunches. "Niall, what would you like for lunch today?" Liam asked, distracted by Harry's lunch.
"Eat your breakfast, ladybug." Liam noticed that the blond wasn't eating his pancakes, and he hadn't even put any syrup on. "Not hungry," Niall whispered. He was afraid to say much of anything else, in fear that words wouldn't be the only thing coming out. Liam ignored the boy, shoving lunch boxes towards the others. He didn't have time for games that morning so he picked Niall's plate up and put it on the counter. "Off you pop. Papa's got the car running. Your backpack is on the hook. I love you, lady bug,"
"Love you too..."
Niall's stomach did a triple flip as he walked down the small flight of steps to the car. Maybe if he was sick, everyone would believe him. But the thought took the feeling away, as if the world was completely against him that day.
"Ni-Ni! Pway?" Harry pouted, swinging his stuffed animals around in a manner that made Niall's head spin. "I'm sorry, Haz... I don't really wanna play today." Niall sat towards the back of the car in attempt to keep away from the others in the car. Zayn glared back at him and rolled his eyes.
"Niall James?" Louis swiveled in his seat, seeing Niall not in his regular seat next to Harry in their mini van. "What are doing all the way in the back?" "Dunno. Just wanna be back here," Niall said quietly. His papa shrugged as Niall pulled out headphones and played a quiet selection of music so as not to irritate his head anymore.
He wasn't asleep when they reached the school, but he earned an unexpected jab to his arm anyways. He jumped, eyes opening at the unnecessarily hard poke. "We're at school, nerd." "Zayn. Be nice to your brother. Goodbye lovelies," Louis placed a kiss to Niall's forehead as the blonde walked through the van and out the open door. "Goodbye, papa." Niall's voice broke. He wished he wasn't saying goodbye but rather snuggling up to his papa with millions of blankets.
He watched as his papa drove away. Having already dropped Harry off, he was on his way home. "Zaynie... I feel ill," Niall whined, turning back to Zayn and tugging on the raven haired boy's sleeve. Zayn looked away from his group of friends and huffed. "Get lost," Zayn demanded. Zayn wasn't usually this rude to him, not even in the morning, but by the way he was talking to even his friends, it was clear he was in a bad mood. "But Z... Please," Niall begged, shaking his arm. He wished he could just call his papa to pick him back up but he didn't think anyone would believe him.
He pulled out his phone and opened his messaging app.
If there was anyone to believe him it was Josh.
Josh was his best friend, even though he lived in a completely different country. So technically, Josh was only an internet best friend. But Niall took it anyways.
'Joshie :(' he messaged, wading through morning hallway traffic to get to his locker.
'whats wrong with u?' Josh answered back. Niall shoved his backpack into the locker after having taken out his notes and folders.
'im poorly J... :( I've thrown up and Zayn doesn't believe me!'
'Ni im kinda too busy to listen to complaining... ur probably overreacting so talk later ?'
Niall's heart sunk further than it had when his brother didn't believe him. He didn't reply back to Josh in fear that the last message would send him over the edge. Instead, he moved as slowly as possible to his first hour. The teacher had already passed out a warm up assignment. "Good morning, children," she stated simply. "I expect you all to follow the agenda in silence for the rest of the hour." Niall had no problem with the silence but focusing on the paper in front of him was becoming increasingly more difficult.
"Niall, you do know that the assignment you've been staring at for ten minutes is due at the end of the hour, right?" Niall looked up at the teacher who was frowning over him. "Yes ma'am, um I was wondering... May I go to the bathroom? I-I can't concentrate on my work this way..." The teacher sighed but handed him a hall pass. Niall was no longer slow about his advances in the hallway. Without anyone in his way, Niall was practically running to the bathroom, his stomach cramping painfully.
Niall had found that throwing up was the most exhausting thing he'd ever experienced. He wasn't feeling any better by the time he was back to the classroom and the stares he got when he almost fell over the mat, were enough to burn his face up. (If the fever hadn't already.)
At lunch, Niall curled over himself and rested his aching head on the cool table. He was lucky enough to find a table that was completely empty and stayed that way. The table was also right by the doors out of the cafeteria.
By the time Niall was halfway through his last hour, he had thrown up eight times, not including the two times at home. His head hurt so bad that he could hardly open his eyes, and he struggled to walk without a sway. They had a free hour that day, so he chose to spend that time resting his heavy head. When the bell rang, he walked, admittedly defeated, to his locker. Zayn always waited for him by the wall but today he wasn't there. Niall pulled out his phone and looked at the few notifications and a message from Josh that said a simple 'hey'. He didn't reply.
Niall decided that since Zayn hadn't stopped to wait for him, he'd head to the car. His whole body hurt and shook with fever. When he got to the car, Zayn was in the car and was talking to Liam about his day. "Hey, ladybug!" Niall's dad cooed as the blond sat in his regular seat. The car was smaller than his Papa's mini van but it didn't make him feel any less sick.
"How was your day?"
"Ok.." Niall whispered shakily. He wrapped his sweater tighter to his body and whimpered at a wave of nausea. "Are you okay, bug? You're awfully quiet today..." Liam glanced in the rear view mirror, then back at the road. "Is there anything bothering you?"
Niall wanted to tell Liam. But the fear of rejection, the fear of his dad not believing him just as Josh and Zayn hadn't was too strong. "No..." Niall lied.
When the family arrived home, after picking Harry up from first grade, Niall went up to his room. Despite the fact that he kept gagging in the car and all the way up to his room, Niall didn't think he had anything left to throw up. His mouth felt dry so despite swaying on his feet and feeling quite faint, Niall trudged down the steps, into the kitchen for a drink. There, Zayn was sorting through his homework and Liam was starting on dinner. "Need something?" Liam asked as Niall forced a little smile towards him. He had a pushy feeling that something was wrong with his baby but he didn't know what.
"I'm j-just getting some water, dad..." Niall's words bled together and his throat felt closed. The water made his mouth less dry but as soon as he swallowed, his stomach rolled. "Dad..." He whispered, holding a hand close to his mouth.
Liam didn't hear and continued to peel potatoes over a small bin. "Daddy," the old nickname slipped out and Niall let a few tears fall. Liam instantly turned at the name, worry poking at his lungs. "Niall? What's wrong ladybug?" Liam rushed to the blonde, holding his shaking body. "Daddy, it won't stop!" Niall cried, half gagging and half sobbing. He threw himself into Liam, holding his dad's shirt in a vice grip.
Liam, reacting quickly, made sure Niall was in the bathroom. But Niall only threw up the small amount of water he'd just drank and stomach acid that Liam knew must have hurt. "You're doing great, ladybug..." Liam soothed as Niall breathed heavily. He was shaking all over, hot and sweaty, feverish.
"Please believe me," Niall whimpered wrapping his small arms around his dad. He didn't know why he said it, maybe it was the fever and his stomach finally getting at him.
"Of course I believe you, why wouldn't I?" Liam lifted the light boy and held him close. He knew he was too old for it, but he needed a way to comfort him and this felt right.
"Z and Josh said I was lying!" Niall's voice sounded strangled in Liam's t-shirt. Liam sent Niall to bed with stomach relaxers and fever reducers.
"Zayn! What have I told you about being nice to Niall?" Liam frowned. Zayn looked up from his homework and squinted. He was confused until realization had hit.
"I'm sorry, Dad! Really! He didn't look sick and..." Zayn realized the excuse was completely invalid and that he was just a complete jerk to his poorly brother.
Niall tried his best to get comfortable, but by the time he was in bed, his again empty stomach was cramping like crazy. His phone buzzed loudly.
'hey NiNi... :/' Josh text. Niall pushed his phone aside, ignoring the message.
'im so so sorry babe... I was just in one of my moods please be okay'
'just the stomach flu.' Niall gave in. Although still slightly annoyed, Niall just missed his best friend.
'welp im buying my plane ticket so expect me'
'Nooooo Joooshhh 'm fine kay?'
'but you threw up :(' 'yeh a lot but I'm still alive so'
Niall found that once the two got into regular banter, he wasn't feeling as bad. His stomach still cramped and his head still hurt a bit, but when his best friend was talking to him, he was happy.
Zayn of course had to apologise when Niall could actually accept the apology. He even went the extra mile and had a movie night with him once he was feeling better. Somehow, the apology meant everything to Niall.
Aw, cute right?
Here's some quick promo for one of her books from her, because I'm sure you're interested after reading that!
'Roses is basically about unrequited love. Niall is hopelessly in love with Liam, but Liam has a girlfriend. At some point Niall decides to start sending Roses to Liam, anonymously, of course. Liam obviously just believes it's his girlfriend. Somewhere in the mix, Niall finds someone who feels the same way about him as he does about Liam. I'm really proud of this book because I work really hard on all of the chapters. All of the chapters are based off of songs and I'm making a playlist for when the book is finished.'
This sounds so good, I'm gonna head over and read it right now! Definitely be sure to check it out!
