( The week before spring break...)
I walked toward Jerome. I hope he dosen't knowest th- I got cut off with the word,
" MITCH! WHAT HAPPENED?!?!?" Jerome yelled
Tears started to fill my eyes. " I-I don't want to talk about it.." I whispered
" Come on buggums, you can tell me anything!' Jerome said
Dont tell him! The voice said I wont, I won't! I thought back
" I accidently fell and - um - cut my arm " I lied
" C'mon Mitch, I know your lying," Jerome said crossing his arms
DONT! Voice said I'll just tell him. WHY? Beacause I don't want to cope with this stuff!
" Jerome," I said
" Yes?"
" I got the cuts and bruses from my dad. He gets drunk and hurts me. I want to just die and forget about all of this bad things." I said. Tears filled my eyes
" Okay everyone, its time for a science lesson!" Mrs.Marca said
" I would like to read!" Seto said " Okay Seto."
" Imagine that you are at school. You are playing a video game, but it's not just for fun. It is for learning. One day, this might happen. Some scientist believe that schools should use video games.
A group of scientists studied video games for a year. Their work convinced them that videos games could change the way kids learn. They say that games teach important skills. They teach kids to think. They teach kids how to work together. Scientists believe that video games are great teaching tools. Why? Kids already love them.
Most of today's games would not work at schools. These games are only for fun. Game companies would need to make new games. Game companies would make these games to sell to schools, not to kids.
Some teachers think that video games could be great learning tools. However, they are not sure that schools would buy the games. Why not? Most people think video games are only for fun. School leaders might not want to spend money on games. Also, schools would have to train their teachers. Leaders might not want to train teachers to use games. At least, not until they are sure that kids would learn from the games."
