Becca’s Pov
My alarm blared jerking me awake at six-twenty; I roll out of bed and grab my clothes. I got dressed in a skirt and blouse with my Chuck Taylor’s. I walked out of my bed room to the bathroom, just as Paul was coming out. Thank god he was still have asleep and didn’t notice my outfit. I walked in and brushed my teeth and fixed my hair, which wasn’t much I put a couple clips in to keep it out of my eyes. When I was done I walked back to my bedroom and grabbed my book bag. I walked down stairs and into the kitchen. Anna handed me a plate full of food.
“You better hurry up and eat and not let your brother see you dress that way. He will flip out.” Anna warned me.
“Thanks.” I mumbled. I am still not use to not having Renee or Charlie there in the mornings when I get up. I dig into my breakfast finishing a few minutes before Bella showed up. Paul ate his breakfast so fast I don’t think he tasted it or chewed it. He kissed me on top of the head as he headed out for patrol. Thank god he didn’t see my outfit. I took my dishes to the sink. I grabbed my bag and walked outside just as Bella pulled up. Got into the truck and Bella started to drive to school. I just sat there waiting for her to say something about my outfit. It didn’t take her long to put her two cents into my outfit.
“Becca don’t you think that outfit is a little much for school?” Bella always had to wear jeans and a t-shirt. The only time I remember Bella wearing anything dressy is when we were little girls. When mom would put us in matching outfits with our hair in pigtails; that was braided with matching ribbons at the ends of our pigtails.
“Bella you know that I have wear something that I can tie to my leg, I have an anger problem since I phased. What do you expect out of me?”
“I expect you to dress better than that. What did Paul say before you left the house?”
“He didn’t say anything. He ate his breakfast or more like inhaled it, kissed me on the head and left for patrol.” That kept her quiet. It takes about an hour to get to Forks High School. So within that hour Bella didn’t say a word about my outfit. When we pulled into the parking lot at school, Bella got out of the truck and went over to her friends. I went ahead and went into the school, on the way into the school. One of Bella’s friends was talking about me.
“When did your sister get so hot?” One of Bella’s guy friends asked her.
“I don’t… really know.” Was Bella’s answer. I smirked I never got that reaction from Bella’s friends before I phased. Before I phased guys at school didn’t noticed me, not even a second glance at me. But now that I have phased it seems that all the guys are noticing me. I get half way to the school when out of nowhere Ally jump out in front of me.
“Becca you are here!” Ally just about yelled.
“I said was going to be here so here I am. Where’s your brother at?” I asked looking into the crowd.
“Which brother Eli or Edwin?”
“Edwin.”
“Oh Edwin, he is around here somewhere.”
“Thanks Ally. See you around.” I walked away heading inside the school. I get half way to my locker. When I smelt a vampire, I get to my locker. Without turning around I knew Edwin was standing behind me.
“You know sneaking up on people is not very nice Edwin.” I turned around and he was giving me a crooked smile.
“But it’s so much fun. Plus I wanted to test your senses out and see how good you are.” Edwin shrugged.
“I maybe a few days old as a wolf but I have a handle on my own senses.” I told the clueless vampire.
“Well you are a very clever wolf girl.”
“I am a very smart, when I chose too.” I laughed.
“I heard that you wanted to talk to me.” Edwin stated.
“Yeah, there was a vampire on our land and I was wondering if you guys, any visitors coming through?” I asked pulling my books out of my bag and putting them in my locker. Only leaving out what I needed for my first class of the day history.
“No we don’t have anybody over. What did this vampire look like?”
“I didn't see it, by the time I got near it. It was on your land. The treaty states that we can’t phase on your land. So the chase was over once the leech crossed over to your land.”
“I resent the term leech.”
“Sorry force of habit, I have a bunch of hormonal teenage boys in my head whenever I phase.”
“Now I have a question for you.”
“And what would that be?”
“What does it feel like to phase for the first time?”
“It feels like your bones are breaking, like your spine is being broken half. Like all your bone are trying to come out of your body. I bet it’s a lot better than being bitten and turned into a vampire.”
“Actually when you get bitten, it’s like your whole body is on fire. It’s like the fires of hell come up and consume you. Like you can’t get the pain to go away, then you wake up from the awful pain and your throat burns like someone poured fire down your throat.”
“Is that what it feels like to be thirsty? I am getting so curious about vampires.
“Yeah, there’s that and the fact the smallest scent of blood could set us off. But we non-human blood drinking vampires have great control. Well expect Luis still has trouble with control sometimes.”
“Why is that?” Now I am more curious about Luis.
“Well you see he once was a blood drinker, but when he met Ally and she had a vision about our family being animal drinkers; they came to join the family doing what we do. Living the lifestyle that we live.”
“Oh. So how do get away with the eating. You guys don’t eat human food do you?”
“Oh we buy food, but we don’t eat it. We just make it look like we do.”
“We better get class before we are late.” Just then the bell rings. We hurry off to class and I can already tell this is going to be a very long day. I can feel the pull to Seth, man does it hurt. I guess this is what it is going to feel like until I let Seth mark me. Which won’t happen for a while I want to at least be in college before I even think about that with Seth. We never know what could happen between now and later on in our lives imprint or no imprint. Anything could happen. Plus my plan to at least try to married before Seth and I do anything. I want Charlie to walk me down to the aisle. But right now isn't time to be thinking about, I want get through my first day back at school.
Its lunch time and I am meeting Bella outside the cafeteria. I am starting to get antsy from not phasing. Bella shows up with Angela Weber and Mike Newton. God does he make me sick. Ever since he hit puberty he has been all over Bella no matter, how many times she has told him that she isn't inserted in him. But he just keeps bugging her. Even seeing her with Jake doesn't stop him from asking my sister out. Following them are Jessica and Lauran. The witches of Forks high school, they can’t stand Bella or I. But I think they are just jealous of Bella and me. That is when I heard the bitch Lauran talking about me, just before Bella gets to me.
“I wonder if chief Swan knows that his daughters are running around a bunch of drug dealers. I mean look at what Becca has done to her hair, plus she dress like a whore. I bet you she has to sell her body to have money to buy her drugs.” Lauran said to Jessica. I glared at both of them. But they didn’t even notice me.
“You know what I show the other day, I show Becca hanging out with Jacob Black. I wonder if her sister knows she is trying to steal her boyfriend from her.”
Hold it together Becca you can’t phase.
Bella looked at me and knew in that moment that I had heard the witches.
“I will catch up with you guys in a few. Becca needs me for something.” Bella told Angela and Mike. Angela looked at me and waved. So being nice I waved back. Bella walked over me and looked me over. She grabbed me by the arm and pulled me away from the cafeteria.
“You shouldn't listen to what Lauran and Jessica say.”
“They are accusing me of stealing Jake from you, just because Jessica saw me with him one day.”
“I know you wouldn’t do something like that Becca, you have Seth. That is the joy of being imprints we know that we can never lose our wolves.” Before I can reply to Bella there is announcement over the intercom system.
“Rebecca Swan please report to the front office.”
“Just great could anything else go wrong today?” I stormed off leaving Bella by herself. If anything else could go wrong I will end up phasing in the middle of the school. I walk to the front office of the school. When I got there I couldn't believe my eyes. Sam, Paul and Seth were standing there.
“What are you guys doing here?”
“Well we talked to Charlie and he agrees that you shouldn't go to this school anymore. Since you live in La Push now, Charlie said it would be easier when Bella graduates.” Sam informed me.
“Plus some of the teachers and staff know about the pack. So you won’t have to worry about have excuse about being late or missing class.” Paul tells me.
“It will also be easier on our imprint you won’t be so far away from me. There is a big chance that we will have most of our classes together.” Seth tells me.
“I don’t know; I don’t really want to leave Bella unprotected.”
“She will be fine. There is really nothing we can do about her transfer she can drive herself to school. I know it’s not good enough of an excuse but it’s all we have. Just Becca please do this for us.” Sam just about begs.
“Whatever. At least I will be able to keep an eye on the other wolves. So am I leaving school now?”
“Yes. So go clean your locker out.” Paul is so demanding. I stick my tongue out at Paul and walk away. This is unbelievable Bella gets to stay in school in Forks, while I have to go to school in La Push. I get to my locker and Edwin is leaning up against it.
“Heard you were leaving.” Edwin sates.
“Yeah the brothers are making me go to school in La Push.”
“Well that must suck. Just think you get to start to drive next year.”
“Yeah but it’s not the same as is with Bella, she still gets to go here.”
“Maybe this is how they want it. Bella can keep an eye on us. To make sure we don’t do anything, while you are safe on the reservation.”
“God why do you have to agree with them? Sometimes I wish I never phased and I was never imprinted on. Maybe I would have normal life. Just maybe I would have died when nomad got a hold of me.” I slam my locker shut.
“What do you mean almost killed by a nomad?”
“Before I phased two nomads got into my house, one had me by the throat and the other ran like the chicken he was. But anyways if it wasn’t for Sam and Seth I would have died that day. I had this big huge bruise on my throat that Sam’s imprint had to help me cover up.” I hate have to explain things to people vampire or not.
“I didn't know that happen to you.” Edwin still had a shocked look on his face.
“It’s a theory of the reason why the wolf gene took affect and I phased.”
“So how on earth did you get to be beta in the first place?”
“Oh that is a long story which I don’t have time for. I have two brothers and a boyfriend waiting for me. So I better go before they come looking for me.”
“Okay, I guess I will talk to you later.” I waved at Edwin as I walked away. I got to Sam, Paul and Seth.
“You ready to go?” Paul asked.
“Yeah sure, if I must.” I tell Paul as Seth takes my backpack from me. We walk across the parking lot to get to Sam’s work truck. Sam stop at the driver’s side as Seth got into the back of the truck. They made me ride up from with them, like I was some kind of child. I guess in their eyes I am still a child. We headed for La Push, nobody said anything. Seth was in the back he was poking his finger through the seat and rubbing it up and down my back. It was keeping my wolf calm enough so I didn’t start shaking all over the place. We made it to Sam and Emily’s place Paul let me out of the truck. I walked into the house. Emily was in the kitchen making the finishing touches on the welcome home basket for Rachel that I was to take to her at Uncle Billy’s.
“Hey Emily.” I smile at her. She smiles back at me.
“I see they pulled you out of school.”
“Yeah they did. Is Rachel’s welcome home basket almost done?”
“Yeah it is. Whenever you are ready to take it to her.”
“I will in a little while.” I told her I walked into the living room. Jared and Kim were sucking face. I sat down on the couch next to Quil.
“What’s up with you Quil?” I asked looking at him.
“Huh, oh nothing just thinking is all. What are you doing home so early for?”
“The brothers thought they take me out of school in forks and make go to the school here.”
“Sounds like a good idea, because if you think about it something happens to Jake then you will have to step as alpha of the pack. You really can’t do that with a bunch of teachers breathing down your neck about your school work. The teachers at forks don’t understand that you have responsibilities here that you have to do. They may even call Charlie and Renee about you missing school. Where here there are teachers who are in on our secret. So you won’t have to worry about them calling and saying you missed school because they will understand.” Wow that is the most serious I have ever seen Quil the total time I have known him.
“Thanks Quil, I’ll think about it.” I got up from the couch and started for the kitchen, as I passed Jared I hit him upside the head.
“What the hell was that for Swan!?” Jared yelled as I made my way to the kitchen.
“You might want to come up for air and let the poor girl breath.” I yelled back. I got to the kitchen and picked up the basket that Emily made and walked out the front door. I made my way down the road towards Uncle Billy and Jake’s house. As I am walking down the road cars are passing by me until, one with native girl inside slows down almost to a stop.
“Hey do you need a ride?” The girl asks me.
“No thank you I am just going to my uncle’s house.” I told the girl.
“Who is your uncle?” The girl asks.
“Um my uncle is Billy Black.” I tell the girl. Not sure if I should have to told her.
“Wait a minute, how are you my dad’s niece?”
“Hold up, what do you mean you dad? That would mean you mean you are Jake’s sister.”
“Yeah I’m Rachel. Who are you?”
“Becca Swan, Charlie and Renee’s daughter.”
“You don’t look like you are fifteen, you like you are twenty-five. What on earth are Charlie and Renee feeding you?”
“Nothing, I had big growth spurt over the last few weeks. Well since you are here I best give you the welcome home basket.” I hand her the welcome home basket and she looks at me confused.
“Thanks, when did the council start this up?”
“They didn't it was my idea to do it. I have been working for the council for the last few weeks.”
“But you not Quileute, how can you work for the council?” now to break for perfect little bubble.
“Actually I am Quileute, Charlie and Renee adopted me when I was a baby. Bella is also adopted.”
“Oh well that would explain why you can work for the council. But if you are adopted then who is birth parents?”
“Anna Lahote and Joshua Uley, I actually punched Joshua in the face because he wanted to be part of Sam, Bella and my life. I told him that I have one father….”
“Charlie Swan. He has made you and Bella into great kids. I remember my mom watching Bella but you never came with her. Why is that?”
“I guess even back then I knew that I was going to be part of the Clearwater family. Sue would keep me; if not her Harry would watch me. Even back then Leah hated my guts. At least that is what they told me. Sue has about six photo albums full of pictures of Seth and me. I think Sue and Harry was as bad as Charlie and Billy.” I laugh.
“Let’s finish this at my dad’s. I would love to hear more. So is Jake still pending himself over Bella?” we walk to her car and get in and start headed for Uncle Billy’s.
“No he caught her finally they live together at your dad’s. I swear that if it wasn’t for Bella they would have starved to death. Bella has your dad on a diet. It’s kind of funny. Charlie lets him have whatever he wants when they go fishing but when Bella is around its death glares and diet foods.”
“Wow I have missed so much just being away at school.” I just shrug. I don’t know what to say. We get to Billy’s; Jake was the first out of the house followed by Bella.
“We need to talk Jake.” I said it so low that only Jake and Bella could hear. I walked to the porch and stood there waiting with Uncle Billy.
“Jake what happened to you the last time I saw you, you were so much smaller.”
“Growth spurts, Rachel a lot of us have been having them. Bella and Becca both recently went those theirs.”
“Yeah that is what Becca told me when I saw her walking on the side of the road.”
“Well it’s the truth.” I looked at Uncle Billy he just rolled his eyes.
“She won’t understand, unless she gets imprinted on.” Uncle Billy mutters forgetting that I can hear him.
“Let’s hope that if does become an imprint she doesn’t get imprinted on by Quil.” I mutter back a little bit louder so that Uncle Billy could hear.
“That happens and you will be seeing me get out of this chair and kicking some ass.” Uncle Billy says. I laugh.
“Uncle Billy I don’t think you will have to worry about that Jake will bet you to it. I can bet my pay check on it.” I tell Uncle Billy seriously.
“Quil maybe Jakes best friend but when it comes to his sister he would kill him.” Uncle Billy tells me. Jake, Bella and Rachel make their way to the house. I walk into the house and sit on the couch. Rachel is greeting Uncle Billy as Jake and Bella walk into the house.
“You want to talk to me met me in the back yard.”
“Whatever you say Jake.” I get up and make my way to the back door so I can meet Jake in the back yard. It feels like I am waiting a long time because I am still antsy from not phasing. Jake walks outside and stands in front of me arms crossed him chest.
“What did you find out from the Sullen’s?” Jake asked.
“I found out that they don’t have anyone visiting them right now. Edwin Sullen asked what the leech looked like, but I couldn't tell because I didn't see it.”
“Alright you did well; we will just have to up the patrols some, to catch this leech.”
“Will do I will inform the pack of the change. You can give out the patrol times to everyone.” The starts to blow and I get the scent of not one pack member but four; Paul, Seth, Quil and Embry. Quil and Embry are coming out of the woods on the south side of Jake’s house. While Paul and Seth are coming down the drive way. I don’t know what I want more to go to Seth or phase. I walked back into the house followed by Jake, straight through the living room to the front door before Paul or Seth could knock.
“You need something dear brother.”
“Yeah shouldn't you be on patrol right now.”
“I should but I had a job to do a beta of the pack and inform our alpha, about what I found out from the Sullen’s. Thank you very much.”
“Well then I guess that is a good excuse as any.” I stuck my tongue out at him and walked them into the house. I went to sit on the couch and before I could I was picked up and place on Seth’s lap. I looked around the room, Paul was talking to Bella and Jake, Uncle Billy was watching a football game on TV. Seth nuzzling my neck with tickles, Rachel walks into the living room. Paul looks up like someone just slapped him, Rachel looks over at him. They make eye contact it was like time was standing still with those two. Eyes locked; time standing still it was a perfect moment for them, in that moment I realized that Paul had indeed imprinted on Rachel. It was like Seth and me all over again. This should be interesting to see how Paul reacts when has to tell Jake and Uncle Billy that he imprinted on Rachel.
