I passed an old beggar on the street
He wore no shoes on his feet
I wondered from where he came
Or if he had a name
Sitting by his mat was a tin can
A passer by could throw a penny in
In the cup was only a few
I threw in one or two
He just laid there in his dirty clothes
His eyes were fixated and froze
I wondered what his thoughts were of
Or if they would someday get him up
Just for a second I cared
Didn't even say a prayer
My feet kept walking by
Without a second thought in mind
