The survival show started off great for Seongwoo and Daniel. They made a lot of new friends, and probably adopted a child. Lee Woojin is a 14-year-old trainee from Media Line who caught Daniel's eye during the level evaluation. A cutie who performed Justin Bieber's hit song Baby for his evaluation. Daniel thought he was so cute that he hugged him when he saw him backstage to ease his nervousness. They became close after. And since Woojin is not hard to love, Seongwoo liked him so much as well. They became known as the Happy Family or the Bear Family.
And then there's Ahn Hyeongseob, a trainee from Yuehua. The two boys met him when they got teamed together for the Get Ugly performance during the Position Evaluation. He became close to Seongwoo during their practice and would spend time with each other.
"So..." Daniel said as he and Seongwoo were on their way to the cafeteria to eat lunch.
"What?" Seongwoo looked at Daniel with a questioning look.
"What's up with you and Hyeongseob?" Daniel asked, avoiding Seongwoo's eyes. "You're spending a lot of time together."
"What's up with that?" Seongwoo asked back. But realization hit him hard. "Wait. Are you jealous?"
"Me? Jealous? of course not! Don't say things like that!" with that, Daniel walked fast towards the cafeteria leaving Seongwoo with a huge grin on his face.
The two boys ate lunch with little Woojin and a few other guys. There's Samuel, Jihoon and another Woojin who specializes in dance unlike little Woojin who specializes in vocals. They were laughing about something that happened during practice. But then Hyeongseob appeared and sat next to the empty seat next to Seongwoo.
"Oh look. Seongwoo hyung, your boyfriend's here!" Samuel said and he and the others laughed. But Daniel didn't look pleased.
Daniel rolled his eyes, put his chopsticks down the table and left them. The others looked at each other worriedly. Daniel wasn't the one who leaves just like that with an annoyed look on his face. Seongwoo stood up and excused himself.
"Where are you going?" Hyeongseob asked when Seongwoo stood up.
"I'm going after Daniel." Seongwoo answered without looking at Hyeongseob.
"Do you have to?" Hyeongseob asked.
"Of course I have to!" Seongwoo answered and with that, he started walking towards the direction Daniel went.
But Hyeongseob whent after him and grabbed his hand. Seongwoo turned and looked blankly at him. Hyeongseob doesn't look pleased and he's making sure that Seongwoo knows it.
"You don't owe him anything." Hyeongseob said after a moment of silence between them.
"You don't know what you're talking about." Seongwoo answered him in a monotonous voice.
Seongwoo shook Hyeongseob's hand off his arm and continued walking, leaving the other boy standing bewildered at the hallway. Seongwoo knows what's up but he doesn't have any idea how to turn the boy down. He added that to the list of his worries but on the priority side. He likes Hyeongseob but only as a friend.
Daniel went to one of the vocal studios and laid on the floor. He tossed and turned until the piano caught his eye and an idea popped to his mind. He quickly went to it and tried to remember all his piano playing knowledge. He started playing key by key of a song that he learned to play a while back, which turned out to be the perfect song for what he's feeling.
"If there's a prize for rotten judgement,
I guess I already won that.
No one is worth the aggravation.
That's ancient history, been there, done that!"
Daniel sighed and stopped playing. But he regained composure and continued to play the rest of the keys.
"Who'd you think you're kidding?
He's the Earth and Heaven to you.
Try to keep it hidden,
Honey, we can see right through you!
Boy, you can't conceal it.
We know how you're feeling,
Who you're thinking of?"
He thought of everything that happened before they entered the survival show. How they met and how everything clicked between them like it's meant to be like that.
"No chance! No way!
I won't say it, no, no!
You swoon, you sigh!
Why deny it? Oh, oh~
It's too cliche! I won't say I'm in love~"
Why do you keep on denying it, Daniel? he thought to himself. As he keeps singing, he felt himself split into two persons debating on such a thing as love.
"No chance! No way!
I won't say it, no, no!
Give up! Give in!
Check the grin, you're in love~
This scene won't play!
I won't say I'm in love!
We'll do it until you admit you're in love!"
Unknown to Daniel, little Woojin, Seongwoo and the rest of the Get Ugly team are standing outside the vocal studio, listening to him. Hyeongseob doesn't look pleased but kept quiet.
"He's gone crazy!" Park Woojin whispered at Samuel who nodded in agreement.
"Shush! Let him be!" Jihoon placed his index finger to his lips.
"You're way off base, I won't say it!
Get off my case, I won't say it!"
"What's with him?" little Woojin asked Seongwoo who was staring at Daniel.
"Boy, don't be proud!
It's okay, you're in love!"
Daniel stopped and stared at the piano keys. As the last line came to his mind, he realized that Seongwoo was not the problem, and neither was Hyeongseob. It was his pride. A lot of things already happened between him and Seongwoo but he failed to acknowledge the fact that there is something more than friendship between them. Especially after the kiss they shared in the playground.
He didn't think that Hyeongseob will be the key for this realization. But with his final strength, he said the last lines out loud.
"At least out loud, I won't say I'm in love..."
Daniel let out a loud sigh. Seongwoo walked silently towards him and stopped when he was just a foot close to Daniel.
"Well, I will!" Seongwoo said out loud. "I love you!"
Daniel's eyes flew open and he turned to look at the voice he recognize so well. Seongwoo was standing behind him with a smile on his face. The other boys were behind Seongwoo with smiles on their faces too, even Hyeongseob. He stood up and hugged Seongwoo very tightly.
"I'm sorry for being so in denial! I'm sorry for being jealous! I love you too!" Daniel sobbed as he buried his face on Seongwoo's shoulder.
"Shh... Shh... It's okay. Don't cry. At least now everyone knows that you're mine and I'm yours." Seongwoo patted Daniel's head.
The boys cheered and hollered at the two boys and everyone approached them and gave Seongwoo and Daniel big hugs with little Woojin, the audience-proclaimed son of Daddy Kang and Mommy Ong, on the lead.
