"Uh uh, pull over, stop the car, stop the fucking car!" Louis shook his head frantically, clawing at the door handle before Liam had the chance to even find a safe place to pull over for what felt like the hundredth time.
Harry groaned and threw his head back against the seat as Liam rolled to a stop on the side of the road yet again. He was so sick of this. It was meant to be a three hour drive. Now because of Louis three hours was long past and they were still an hour away. Harry didn't like car rides either and his stomach had never been the biggest fan so Louis up chucking literally every five minutes wasn't the easiest thing for him to deal with.
Louis shoved the door open and leaned out over the grass. His stomach felt awful. It was twisting around like he was on a roller coaster and the feeling reminded him of losing his stomach, like after you fall. Except this was a constant thing and it just made him feel so sick and nauseous he couldn't handle it.
With a quiet burp he gagged and puked a small puddle of water and bile out onto the ground. The taste in his mouth was so bad he almost threw up again and he couldn't believe how burned his throat felt from all the acid.
"Do you wanna carry on or stop for a bit?" Niall unclipped Louis' belt for him as the older lad hadn't had time. It snapped and flung around into its socket like a frightened snake. Louis wiped his cracked lips and swallowed. He needed a break from the vehicle. The times in between throwing up were getting shorter and shorter, the last drive had only lasted four minutes. If he could stop and gain his composure maybe he could pull himself back together for the remainder of the trip.
He honestly had no idea why this was going so badly. He wasn't usually the one to get car sick, that was Harry. He usually slept through car rides or hung his head out the window like a dog, he wasn't used to the continuous queasiness and he hated it. He was tired, maybe that was what was confusing his body. If so, he detested himself for letting it happen.
"Stop" he rasped in response to Liam's question. His stomach lurched up again, making him cough suddenly and jerk forward but nothing came up. He shakily exhaled and swallowed once more before properly getting out of the car.
Harry got out of the seat in front of him and Louis didn't miss the fleeting glare in his direction from the pale faced, curly haired boy.
He frowned to himself as Harry stalked off towards the entrance of the small roadside cafe that Liam had coincidently pulled into the car park off in his desperateness to get off the road. He knew Harry probably wasn't feeling well, he never was when they drove long ways, but why was he pissed off with Louis?
Niall got out the other side of the car and shut the door behind him so that Liam could lock up before they went inside. He squinted up at the blaring sun for a few moments and then took off to catch up Louis as he trudged across the gravel with a hand holding his tummy.
"How many times is that now? Jeez, I don't think I've ever seen a person throw up as much as you have in the past two hours" said Niall, shaking his head in disbelief as he strode beside his friend.
"Don't even talk about throwing up..." Louis whined as his complexion went green.
Niall backed away a few steps just in case but thankfully Louis managed to get himself under control.
Liam caught up and walked inside with the two of them. Harry was already sat down at a table fiddling with the decorations boredom. It smelled like bread and lemon and although Louis would usually love it he couldn't help but wince a little as the strong smell stirred his insides up even more. He wasn't in the car anymore but his stomach still felt bad and he had a sinking feeling that it was going to take a bit for it to wear off.
He lowered himself onto the cushioned seat slowly and sat back, holding his twirling stomach in discomfort.
"Are we getting food then?" Niall spoke up after a few moments of terribly awkward silence. Louis was enjoying it, he'd been asleep with his eyes open pretty much.
"I can't do food right now." Harry shook his head. Louis wasn't looking, but out of his peripheral vision he still saw the stink eye Harry turned to shoot his way. What in the world had he done to make Harry so annoyed with him?
"I could do with a drink." Liam shrugged carelessly," maybe something to eat too I guess."
"Lou? Do you want anything?" Niall stood, preparing himself to go order. He knew Liam would want something cold for a drink, he'd pick from random at the counter, and then for food he'd choose something they could all pick at.
Unsurprisingly Louis shook his head. Niall had only asked just in case, he hadn't really expected Louis to want any food. He'd get him a water anyway, he'd thrown up so many times he was probably bone dry by now and about to drop of dehydration.
Harry shifted uncomfortably and chomped down on his lip to keep from letting his irritation spill verbally. He got like this when he wasn't feeling well and he knew that in any other circumstances he wouldn't be annoyed at all. His exasperation was probably totally uncalled for and pointless but he couldn't help it.
He just wanted to get the damn car ride over with and they were sitting in a cafe for gods sakes.who knew how long it would be until they finally reached their destination and Harry could finally relax without having to stress about a looming time in the car.
When Niall came back with a bowl of chips Louis thought he was going to have to make a run for the bathroom. He literally felt the blood run out of his face. Nobody seemed to notice though and after a few deep breaths Louis was able to gain back control over the strong nausea.
Niall put a glass of water down in front of him. Louis shot him a short smile and uneagerly took a sip. It made the taste of vomit lingering in his mouth thrice as strong and he grimaced as he swallowed. The clock on the wall ticked in a frustrating way that made Louis want to block his ears. With his chin leaning on his hand he closed his eyes and tried his best to ignore it.
He must've fallen asleep, somehow, because next thing he knows he's blinking and the bowl of chips on the table is suddenly is empty. Moaning and groaning loudly, he rubbed at his eyes and wearily stood to follow the others back out to the car. He was so tired that he knew, car or no car, he was going to fall asleep the moment he had his head against something.
He managed to half consciously buckle his seat belt but after that there was nothing as Liam got the motor running again.
It was quiet as they drove. Liam hummed along to the quiet music from the radio and Niall was staring at his phone screen. Harry was beginning to fee like he might be sick soon and that just made him even more cranky. All that anger at Louis for making them stop and now he was going to the same thing? He felt hypocrital, although, he would probably only need one stop whereas Louis had needed several already and there was most likely more to come.
"Lou okay still Ni?" Liam asked, glancing at the blond in the mirror. They'd been driving for a good twenty minutes without a word out of anybody. It wasn't an uncomfortable silence but the silence was beginning to make Liam twitch.
Niall's head jerked up at the sound of his name and he leaned forward with a lost 'huh?'
"Is Louis going to stink out the car again any time soon" Harry snarled without bothering to even look at the two of them.
"Whoa okay, calm yourself." Niall snorted in amusement as he pulled away back into his seat.
A thought came to Liam's head while he sat wondering what had gotten Harry into such a snarky mood. Louis had been vomiting non stop for the entire ride and Liam had barely paid any attention to the other lad and neither had Niall. He knew Harry got carsick too, but he'd more or less forgotten about him. . Liam supposed that was enough of a reason be pissy.
"He's kind of, like, twitching?" Niall said unsurely as he observed Louis' current condition. He was obviously sound asleep, his mouth was open slightly and his entire body was just totally limo and unresponsive. The sunlight pouring in through the window made his face looked even paler than it was and his shoulder kept jerking ever so slightly in the twitching movement Niall was struggling to explain.
Louis suddenly moaned and shifted, making Niall jump in shock. He'd been so deep in though it had scared the crap out of him. Liam hushed Niall quickly, not wanting Louis to wake up. Only when the oldest's lads head fell back down onto his chest did Liam let Niall open his mouth again, "sorry, I got a fright."
"I know Ni, we've just got to keep him asleep as long as we can. There's only about half an hour to go and it would be great if we could make it without any more incidents. Harry?" Liam tapped Harry's shoulder, the another hand remaining on the steering wheel, "are you okay?"
Harry sighed quietly and opened his eyes. "I just want to be there already. I feel bad for getting frustrated, I'm sorry, I didn't mean to snap before."
"It's all good, we all get in shit moods sometimes. Are you feeling okay at least?" Niall questioned.
Harry shrugged. Honestly, he felt sick and every corner was making it worse. His head had started to throb painfully few moments ago and his tummy was hardly any better, whirling around inside him constantly.
"Hazza..." Liam glanced over at his with a stern eyebrow raised.
"Really, it's fine. I'm mana-"
Before Harry could finish Louis jolted awake and after meeting Niall's eyes for no less that a second he lurched forward and threw up the water he'd drunken at the cafe onto the space between his legs. Tears of fright and pain tumbled down his face, he'd only just woken and could hardly register what was even going on. All he knew was that his throat was absolutely burning and his stomach was just so so nauseated that his whole body was shaking.
Niall hummed in distaste for a few moments before deciding better and scooting over rub Louis' back as he gagged repetitively over the small puddle on the floor.
"I would suggest pulling over!" He called to Liam awkwardly over the sound of Louis's retching even though he knew Liam had probably figured that much and plenty more out on his own.
"Please?" Harry agreed feebly and when Liam glanced over he swore at how green Harry had suddenly turned.
He stopped the car on the grass yet again and got out as Louis tumbled out of the car into a clumsy heap on the dirt. He made a gurgling sound and somehow threw up even more bile and liquid, there was something else mixed in there too but Liam couldn't tell what it was and he really did not want to get close enough to figure it out.
Niall was beside him anyway so he figured that meant he didn't need to be as well. By the looks of Harry as he ever so slowly and shakily climbed out of the car he was about to be needed elsewhere anyway.
After it was all over it took a fair few tries to convince Louis to get back in the car. Harry was easy, he was half asleep anyway, but Louis was another issue. He wasn't impressed at all at the idea.
"Just leave me here" he whined dramatically, curling up on himself even more. He was literally in a ball on the grass. He didn't want anything to do with the car anymore. He'd had enough.
"We can't do that Louis. Stop being a baby, it's like fifteen minutes more" Niall tried to pull him to his feet but Louis was purposely limp and dead weight which made it pretty much impossible. Niall could hardly get him an inch off the ground without panting in exertion. Liam didn't even bother trying to help. If Louis didn't want to move then there was absolutely no way they'd be able to force him into it.
Niall gave up and dropped his legs after a few minutes of fruitless grunting and heaving. Louis chuckled quietly to himself and tucked his legs back into his body.
The car door flew open and Liam whipped around to see Harry hanging out of the car looking pretty drunk to be honest. Although, his eyes were blazing in anger.
"Get in the fucking car Tomlinson or I swear I will shave your head in the night" he growled raspily. However his voice held onto its volume and anger and Louis looked up at him in fear. He knew Harry wasn't joking.
"Move!" Harry slammed the door shut again. Liam hid a laugh as Louis scrambled to his feet. Niall caught his forearm when he tripped and lunged forward and they all got back into the car.
Harry was breathing heavily from yelling but he had his eyes closed so Liam figured that he was 'asleep' and didn't want to be bothered. He smiled as he rolled back out onto the road and joined the line of cars trying to get into the city. More cars quickly appeared right on his arse and he bit his lip as he looked back at the endless line of traffic behind him and in front of him. Nobody better get sick again because there was no way out.
They weren't exactly moving very far, it hardly felt like they were even in a car. He was mostly sure the rest of the trip would be uneventful-
Okay, apparently not. Liam hurriedly rolled down the windows to try and relieve some of the smell. He would definitely be making Louis clean his car later.
