"Ben won't open his eye's" Darren rushed out taking deep breaths between each word, Blade shot out of bed naked, Darren quickly turned around running down the stairs I got out of bed by body cold as ice from the dread of thinking I've lost my baby, Blade rushed and got our robes I put mine on straight away rushing down the stairs to Ben's bedroom, Blade was already on the phone dialling for an ambulance we got into Ben's room he was in Darren's arms limp and pale I reached to him taking him out of Darren's arms that's when my doctor in training kicked in, I laid him down checking his pulse which was very faint he wasn't breathing I lifted his chin up pinched his nose and breathed in to him, he still hadn't come around after I did CPR I was getting really anxious I placed him into the recovery position praying he'll be okay Blade wrapped his arms around me murmuring his going to be okay.
The paramedics came in to our apartment Darren led them to us, into Ben's bedroom they quickly got an oxygen mask on him, placing him on to the ambulance stretcher rushing him to the elevator,
Chapter 24 Part 3
"Hurry up and get changed well be waiting down stairs," Darren still in his pyjamas said getting in to the elevator standing besides the paramedics taking Ben's limp hand in his, Blade and I ran to our bedroom Blade through me a pair of jeans and a plain white top I hurriedly got into my clothes and rushed down the stairs pressing the button to the elevator. Blade stood next to me not saying a word his cold hands wrapped around my shaking hands the ting of the elevator breaking the eerie silence, I could barely hold my body up, and all I could think about was what Lucinda had said that if I didn't leave, Ben would die in I believed her words more than ever at that moment Ben was already sick and it had only been eleven hour that the poison had been in his body and he was unconscious barely breathing, what condition would he be in tomorrow? I was so frightened tears pooled up in my eyes what has that evil bitch done to my baby. A sharp pain went through me I swayed on my feet Blade quickly got hold of me, his hands on my face I could see his lips moving but I couldn't hear anything his face going blurry.
I could hear a constant beep of a heart monitor, I blinked opening my eyes looking up at a plain white ceiling I was lying in a hospital bed with a drip attached to my body, I quickly sat up were was Ben and why was I all on my own a loneliness crept through me this is what it would feel like when I would leave but I won't be alone I will have Ben he is going to get better when I get the antidote of Lucinda. I placed my hand over the little lump on my belly I also had my little Blade with me all the time I clutched my stomach, I wouldn't let nothing happen to mine and Blade's baby, but who were I kidding? How could I live without him spend each day painfully thinking about how he was? What he was up to? And had he found himself a replacement wife when I leave him. The door to my hospital room opened taking me out of my thoughts a doctor came in smiling at me,
"Is Ben okay?" I quickly asked sitting up on my bed pulling on the butterfly IV on my wrist.
"He's going to be okay; on the other hand if you keep on stressing yourself out your baby won't be, you can lose it." He took the IV butterfly out placing a cotton bud over it his hand was massaging my palm, "A beautiful thing like you shouldn't be stressing out" he smiled I pulled my hand out of his getting out of the bed I swayed a little on my feet, the doctor came around steadying me I had no escape from him he had me cornered "calm down I just want to check if you are all right" his hand travailed down from my shoulder to my breast I tried pushing him of me but his hands tightened around me, the door to my hospital room opened instantly the doctor was pulled away from I was expecting an angry looking Blade but I was surprised to see a distressed looking Mathew.
"Don't ever touch her again or I'll have you sacked understood?" Mathew pushed the doctor on to the hospital bed and then grabbed me by my upper arm dragging me out of the room he pushed me against the wall on an empty corridor, "What the fuck is going on Caramel?" I looked at him shocked "Don't give me that bullshit stare; tell me what the fuck is going on? I so you at the Dowerson's house, you were all happy before you came out of that bitch Lucinda's room what did she say to you?" I looked at him open mouthed how the hell did he notice when Blade didn't, but I really wanted to tell him I needed someone that I could trust that would help me leave or even escape. "You know it's all her fault that Blade got kidnapped she was behind it all" Mathew said quietly his eye never leaving mine, "I was there at Chris's trial, he told the court that she was with Mark when they were planning on kid napping Blade no one believed him they called him all sorts, you should have seen Blade's father he was outraged about the accusations Chris held against his sister, it was like Mr Dowerson was the actual judge. So tell me because I know what a bitch Lucinda is." Mathew put a reassuring hand on my face stroking my check, he pulled me in to a hug I rested my head on his chest,
"I can't tell you, if she finds out Ben's dead" my voice was hushed I weren't sure if her heard me,
"Is that the reason that Ben is ill?" he asked I nodded my head on his chest, he pulled me back "You need to tell me what has she done to him, Caramel I want to help you but you need to trust me." he said pulling back holding my shoulders. I took a deep breath then told him everything that had happened in the room with Lucinda telling him I had to leave before she did something to Blade, Darren or even worse if she let Ben die.
"You need to help me get out of here Mathew I have to leave Blade; I have no other choice do I?" Mathew's silence answered that question, if I told anyone about Lucinda they wouldn't believe me I would get the same response Chris got, "I need to get Ben's guardian name on me, it's currently on Blade's, will you help me get out of here Mathew? Please I can't do this alone, I have no idea how I'm going to say goodbye to Blade" tears fell from my eyes Mathew pulled me back into a hug whispering
"I'll help you; leave the aeroplane tickets and the adoption papers to me."
"Thank you Mathew, so much" I whispered back holding him tightly he was such a great friend.
"Caramel!" I heard Blade shut I pulled away from Mathew and was crushed to Blade's chest, "baby what's the matter why are you crying, is everything alright. I just came to check on you Ben won't let me go anywhere he's probably doing Darren's head in" Blade sighed holding me tightly kissing my forehead, "did the doctor say you were alright to leave your room? Your okay aren't you? The doctor said there was nothing wrong you kidney's working fine and the baby's good you were just stressed because of Ben " Blade asked pushing back so he could look at my face his beautiful blue eyes peering into mine with concern and tenderness, his face showed that he was really tired worrying about me then Ben. I leaned my head on his chest wrapping my arms around him.
"I'm fine, I love you" I felt his lips in my hair,
"I love you more" he replied leading me towards Ben's ward.
"Blade is he alright?" I stopped him before we entered the children's ward looking up at Blade.
"He's fine, Aunty Lucinda came to see him when she left he was just, well when she left" Blade smiled, I grimaced inwardly putting a fake smile on for Blade, she probably slipped some of her antidote into Ben to buy me some time that witch.
"Mummy!" Ben yelled as we stepped into the ward he jumped out of his bed and came running towards us jumping on top of me I staggered under his weight Blade slipped his arm around us taking some of Ben's weight, he looked at me searching my face, a slight frown formed on his face taking us to were Darren was sat on the comfy chairs by the patients bed. "Mummy are you feeling better? And I want to go home now it's really boring here."
"Baby I'm fine how are you feeling does anything hurt, you don't feel poorly do you?" I touched his forehead checking for a fever but his temperature was normal, Ben smiled at me
"Mummy will you pwease stop worwing" he spoke with his cute face I kissed his cheeks putting him down on the bed.
"Caramel" Darren stud up coming around to give me a hug "don't scare me like that ever again okay, when you decide to faint on us please don't do it the same time Ben does" I could hear the smile in his voice I hugged him tighter.
"Love you bro" I pulled away to give him a kiss, I just wanted to show them heaps of love before I broke their hearts on my disappearance.
The hospital discharged Ben saying he was fine to go and they had no idea what had made him so ill, we got home to Blade's skyscraper and met the usual crowd of paparazzi Blade had a secure arm around me and had Ben in his other arm, Darren had hold of me on the other side the bodyguards had surrounded us as we had got out of the car Ben quickly pressed the button for the elevator Darren and Ben always fought to press the button and Darren would get yelled of Blade for being childish while I laughed at them.
"Mommy I don't want to sleep on my own" Ben pouted in Blade's arms
"Sweetie you can sleep with us in our room okay" Ben nodded his head resting it on Blade's shoulder I kissed him on the cheek.
"I don't want to sleep on my own either" Darren whined.
"Darren seriously how old are you?" Blade asked him joking.
"What I'm only fifteen, oh my god guy's what date is it today?" Darren looked really excited; I got my mobile out of my pocket the elevator stopped to our apartment Ben jumped out of Blade's hold running to the sofa jumping on it.
"It's the eighth of May, why?" I said looking at him his face was all lit up and he went and jumped on the sofa with Ben I looked at Blade who was smiling.
"Someone is going to be all grown up in a few minutes" I turned looking at Darren
"I'm going to be sixteen in five minutes!" Darren yelled jumping of the sofa.
"Oh my god it's your birthday?" I said really surprised at the same time I realised that it was the same day that my mother died, I smiled not wanting them to see how I felt from inside adding to the constant guilt I felt on having to leave Blade and Darren I felt sorrow for the day my mother died, but there's always Darren my brother.
"Okay were having a sleep over party so it's appropriate for the kids" Blade said looking at our two boys jumping on the sofa.
"Are you being serious a slumber party, I've turned sixteen not six!" Darren groaned but getting his mobile out to ring his friend inviting him over while Blade did the same.
"Blade have you seen the time? We have uni in the morning and Darren has school" I yelled at Blade, was he being serious it was already so late.
"Caramel stop being a party pooper!" Darren yelled at me, I groaned rolling my eye at him,
"Says the person who's having a slumber party at sixteen!" I yelled back at him sticking my tongue out.
"Well don't you worry I'm going out with my girlfriend and mates tomorrow this is a family/close friends party!"
The land line phone rang I looked at Blade who was talking on his mobile, he nodded his head towards the phone indicating pick it up but Ben beat me to it.
"Ello!" he sang into the phone the person gave him a reply Ben's face just dropped he had tears in his eyes I snatched the phone of him, which insane person would frighten a child I hugged Ben to me lifting the phone to my ear.
"How dare you speak to my child like that" I was furious the person on the other line laughed a shrill high pitched cackle, that shut my mouth making me feel nausea with fright what did she want this time I turned around so my back was facing Darren and Blade. "What do you want Lucinda?" I tried saying it coldly but it just came out feeble.
"What do I want? If I remember correctly you should be thanking me. Ben would have been died if I hadn't slipped him some of my incredible antidote, silly me I gave him the adult requirement of the poison so he would have died within the day upsy, luckily I found out our little Ben was rushed to the hospital so I stopped by and helped him out. But I rang to warn you that the poison is still in his system and you really do need to be gone in two days well it was lovely talking to you my dear but I really most be on my way gave my love to Blade and Darren." I hear the line go dead she cut me off before I even said anything to her I placed the phone back on the receiver, Ben quivered in my arms
"Mommy I don't like her" Ben whispered holding me tighter, I kissed his forehead
"Baby she isn't going to hurt you; I'm not going to let her." I felt Blade's hand on my shoulder
"Who was it precious?" Blade asked taking Ben out of my arms, and giving me a peck on the lips. I placed a reassuring smile on my face hiding all the grief that was boiling inside me eating at me, I had another whole day to go before I left and I had no idea how I was going to leave Blade, I got hold of his arm, wrapping my arm around his waist hugging him to me, he kissed me in my hair still waiting for his answer.
"Oh, it was just Lucinda checking on Ben," I made it sound convincing, Blade just nodded taking us down to Ben's room we found him some Bob the builder pyjamas. We took him back upstairs sitting him with Darren who was texting away vigorously; Blade placed Ben on the sofa. Ben was looking over Darren's shoulder trying to get his mobile of him Darren was pulling it away trying to text he moved over a seat Ben followed jumping on to his lap,
"Blade tell him of before I do some serious damage!" Darren said angrily making Ben giggle, Blade got hold of my hand rolling his eyes at Darren.
"Get into your PJ's Darren, and keep an eye on Ben, we'll be back in a minute" Blade took me up stairs to our room sitting me down on the bed, "we have a problem" he said calmly but it just scared me, what was going on, did he know? "Caramel chill, but we don't have a present for Darren" Blade spoke with a hushed voice, like he was trying to hide the biggest secrete in the world. But he had a point it was a problem what could we give Darren I wanted to give him something meaningful so he could remember me by it when I'm not around.
"Blade the ring!" I exclaimed jumping up of the bed,
"You want to give him your engagement ring?" Blade looked at me in shock.
"Of course not where's my suitcase that I brought with me from England?" I asked looking around the room. Blade walked into our walk in closet coming out with my battered old suitcase he placed it on the floor, unzipping it for me I sat on the floor taking the small box that lay on top of my old clothes. I opened the box and there lay my father's ring the one he wore all the time, it was a silver ring with a round plate at the top it had a 'w' in the centre of it which was engraved in the silver.
"Who's was it?" Blade whispered sitting next to wrapping his comforting arms around me I leaned into him slipping the ring on my thumb but it was still far too big.
"It was my father's, the 'w' symbolised my surname 'Williams' it's been in the family for over two hundred years." I clutched the ring tighter I would always remember my father having it on his index finger. Katherine had given it to me on my fifteenth birthday she had said she found it on the airport where our plane had crashed killing my father; she had stolen it form memorial of the people that died in the aeroplane. That had been the one of the best gifts someone had ever given me, but I couldn't wear the ring it wouldn't fit,
"I bet this will fit Darren perfectly," I kissed the ring Blade took it out of my hands looking at it.
"It's amazing, and it's going to mean a lot to Darren, Its perfect. But the rings a gift from you, you have to help be decide what to give him" he placed the ring back its box lifting me into his lap he looked into my eyes stroking my checks "how you feeling Caramel? For the past day or two you've been a little distant and sometimes I swear I see hurt and grief on your face, are you not happy here?" I buried my face into his chest he had noticed how could he not, "Caramel if there's something wrong please tell me you know you can trust me" he held me tighter stroking my hair back and kissing it, we heard the ting of the elevator down stairs then a really loud 'happy birthday' followed my lots of cheers. "Caramel love I'm not letting you go till you tell me, I know your hiding something from me and it's upsetting you I want to know and help you. You know how much it hurts me seeing that distant look in your eyes, seeing pain written on your face baby stop putting me through that pain and let me help you. Is it the baby? Are you in pain because of that?" he pulled me back looking at my face a tear slipped from my eyes falling down, what if I told Blade about Lucinda and the poison that's in Ben's body, what if Blade could get the antidote of the guy in Germany. Blade would believe me wouldn't he? But what if she hurt Darren if I told Blade? What if she hurt Blade? But if I told Blade he would do something about it he would get her in prison that way she wouldn't be able to hurt Darren, Ben or Blade. I looked up at his face and it was just covered in worry which was only for me.
"Blade promise me you will believe me" I just couldn't bear to see the disbelief on Blade's face, the only person that I had ever let into all my secrets the only person I let into my heart in fifteen years.
"Caramel you know what ever you say I would believe, come on baby you trust me don't you? I love you" He touched my face cupping my face in his hands "tell me" he pleaded "please," his face looked so vulnerable.
"I trust you Blade, it's not her that I trust if I tell you I don't know what she will do" I clutched his shirt pulling him back towards me he wrapped me up in his arms again.
"Who is she?" His voice sounded angry,
"Luc..."
