Ranger: What the hell happened here?
The three of you have entered the ruined city of Vale. It wasn't an easy sight to watch as you were walking past fallen buildings, destroyed roads, and even fallen airships in the streets that were still burning.
Corona: It isn't a coincidence that our homes have been attacked...
(Y/N): ... Let's just go find the others. Will you be alright, Corona?
Corona: Yes. We just need to move carefully to avoid my wounds reopening.
(Y/N): Don't worry, we'll be your shield.
Ranger: Yeah, let's go, I'm sure Weiss and Blake are worried for us.
You nodded as the three of you continued walking in the city, hoping to find anybody nearby or at least any signs of life.
ROOOAR
Beowolves and Creeps began to crawl from the buildings, making the three of you fall together in a defensive position. The numbers of Grimm were unbelievable because of the fact that they were practically surrounding all of you.
You and Ranger thought it was the end until a bright glow surrounded Corona, making the Grimm slowly retreat. Although they kept their distance until the light moved up and brought fourth white beams of light that decimated the Grimm.
You two were surprise by the display of power as the orange haired teen fell to her knees while heavily breathing.
Corona: ... I may have used too much...
You helped her back onto her feet as she finished catching her breath.
Ranger: What did they teach you back there?
Corona: Holy spells to banish Grimm and healing arts to treat others or ourselves as well as ridding diseases. Only those that have been gifted are allowed to learn from the monastery.
Both of you were impressed by her abilities but there was still much to be done. That is until a group Nevermores landed in front of you three.
Ranger: Inside the building!
All of you followed the leader of your team inside a recently abandoned building. One of the large birds stuck it's head inside the door to make an attempt to catch at least one of you but it eventually retreated.
Another Grimm tried to make its way inside through the window but it failed as well.
(Y/N): They have us cornered...
ROOOAAARR
Ranger: ... Sounds like they brought reinforcements...
The team leader looked around to find something they can use but all he could find was a back room since the building was a store. Taking a moment to think, he dropped his bag and brought out a small set of explosives.
CRASH!!
The door broke down with the wall crumbling to allow a few alpha beowolves inside with the Nevermores behind.
Ranger: Back room!
Every one of you made a beak for it to the room, with you and Corona safely making it inside. Although, the door shut behind you without Ranger with you, in fact he was the one who closed it off but not before throwing his backpack and sniper inside.
Ranger: Tell Blake I love her!
His voice was heard behind the door which made you realize that he wasn't with the the two of you.
(Y/N): What are you doing?! Get in here!!
Kaboom!
The powerful explosion was sealed off by the steel door but you fell back from the impact of the blast.
(Y/N): RANGERR!!!!
You kicked down the door with unbelievable strength to find the room charred with no trace of life. You fell to your hands and knees, the floor was still hot from the explosion but you cared less since the last of your team was gone.
(Y/N): DAMMIT!!
You punched the ground once in frustration as tears began to fall from your eyes. It was too much to take in the fact that your best friend sacrificed his life to protect the both of you.
You were sobbing at the sudden loss until a hand was gently placed on your head. You looked up to find none other than Ranger himself ruffling your hair, he had a smile on his face before he disappeared.
Corona: *panting* I used the last of my power... To allow him to see you one last time...
You slowly shook your head and wiped the tears from your eyes before bringing yourself back to your feet. Corona then passed out from using too much of her own semblance and fell to the floor so that she may rest.
A manifestation of your best friend reappeared as a white glowing figure, he stood next to you while holding his sniper. He disappeared as well but you knew that a piece of his soul and his weapon were with you.
(Y/N): Rest now... My brother...
You looked back to find an unconscious Corona so you gently picked her up and moved her back into the back room as a safe room. You placed her on the floor while putting her head on Ranger's backpack to act as a pillow.
A soft growl was heard outside the room so you decided to investigate to find more Grimm slowly crawling inside the crumbled building.
(Y/N): I'll make you all pay!
The Sword of the Father was summoned into your hand and you charged at the Grimm, your eyes were changing red from your emotions and the sealed darkness within you.
Timeskip
(Y/N): Urgh.... Dammit!
You were clutching your left arm as you struggled to even kneel one knee, the main reason was because your entire left side was burning. The spot that hurt the most was your heart, knowing that source of your power resonated from within.
(Y/N): Gaahh!!! WHY NOW?!
It was too much for you to even control. Your hand, which was exposed, began to grow slightly paler with black and red veins slowly spreading across. Even traces of black and red veins were revealing themselves on the left side of you face, although it wasn't taking control of you. It only wanted you to use the tainted power.
(Y/N): Heh... Guess it can't be help...
There was no look in trying to keep it held back, especially when everything around you was practically burning and crumbling to the ground. Ever since the attack on Vale started, this darkness lurking within began to affect you like a poison.
As you were in a personal battle of whether or not give to this poison, the city of Vale continued to burn along with the sounds of gunshots and a few screams.
???: (Y/N)!!!
You couldn't even move an inch as the burning sensation soon became numb. Even your heart had felt as though it wasn't there.
A power of gentle arms wrapped around you and you felt the tight embrace of the one person you had continued fighting for throughout this entire time.
(Y/N):.Weiss...
Weiss: I'm glad I found you...
The way she spoke to you was still a surprise, almost as if the two of you had recently confessed to each other. You felt a few drops land on your head as you were still in your fallen form or rather, a state of transformation. You cursed the temptress that had seen your struggle in the first place and had infected you with this corruption..
(Y/N): ... I'm sorry...
Weiss held you tighter when she heard your words, the sounds of your weakened state gave her thoughts of losing you.
Weiss: ... Don't say things like that! Come on,we need to get you medical attention!
She grabbed your right arm but the sight of your other arm began to terrify her. She then brought your face up and saw the strange markings have ceased to a halt but continued to remain on your face. It was too much to bear when your eyes have began to change black with red iris.
Weiss: W-what's happening to you!
(Y/N): ... A mistake catching up with me... I was a fool to realize that this would give me strength...
The heiress still held your hand, with more tears beginning to escape her eyes after realizing what you had said.
Weiss: *sobs* I'm so sorry! If only I had accepted you sooner... If only I had realized your feelings, instead of the way I treated you!
Shortly afterwards, then ground began to shake after what seemed a great earthquake had affected the entire city.
Roar!
The deafening sound pierced the entire area as Weiss had witnessed a dragon-like Grimm landed in front of them.
Weiss: (Y/N)! We have to run!
(Y/N): ... No.
You gently pushed her away after feeling different. The pain and numbness had receded from your body which quickly recovered. Even the white haired teen felt something different as you turned to face the dragon.
Weiss: *in thought* His aura is dark... But it's still him! That Grimm must be after him.
(Y/N): It's better if I just let it take over... I can use this to protect you....
A straight sword was then in your hand as you looked at the dragon with a blank look. The vein-like markings were spread across your face but you were still intact. Then an assortment of weapons began to float around your shoulders as you looked upon the monster.
You looked back at Weiss with a light smile to assure her that you are alright before turning back to the monster and charged forward.
Weiss: ... I love you.
RRROOOOOOOAAAAAAARRRR!
(Y/N): I'M NOT LETTING YOU GET ANYWHERE NEAR HER!!
You started off with a swipe of your greatsword, apocalypse, to knock its head to the side but the dragon was unscathed by the attack. Although, it didn't expect for your assortment of weapons to strike it without anybody wielding them.
It simply stood there on all fours, simply taking the barrage of attacks but some of them have slightly damaged its armor.
Your new form was slowly killing you as you spat blood even though you weren't injured from the dragon. The Grimm around the dragon began to make their move but you warped away from the crowd and reappeared next to one of the grunts.
(Y/N): Out of my way!
You killed the Grimm with a swipe of your spear before warping to another grunt and killing it as well with a different weapon. As soon as all of the grunts were wiped out, you turned your attention to dragon.
The oversized Grimm simply looked at you before opening it's mouth.
ROOOAAARR!!
That's all it took from the dragon to send you flying back into a ruined building.
Weiss: (Y/N)!!
She ran to where you were launched by the roars of the dragon made the ground shake. It lost interest in the battle and flew upwards to continue to its destination.
Meanwhile, the heiress was horrified at the fact that you were stuck underneath the rubble. She even tried her best to dig you out of the crumbled building but she was unable to find you since you could be anywhere.
The sounds of soft footsteps was heard behind her so she turned around to find a girl that was the same age as her.
Corona: I've seen it... He shouldn't have tried...
Weiss looked at the girl with teary eyes, although the orange haired teen was extremely sad as well.
Corona: ... We may not know each other but he must have meant that much to you...
Weiss: I love him...
Corona let out a soft sigh, she knew her time was nearing its end as well. The injuries she sustained have reopened during her small rest and she already felt light headed from blood loss.
Corona: ... You saved me from earlier... It's only fair that I return the favor...
Weiss: What do you mean?
The orange haired teen brought fourth her staff and began to focus her own life force. She began to glow white but the spot in front of Weiss began to form a pillar of white light.
Corona: Rise, (Y/N)! And I banish the darkness within!
Weiss: What are you doing?!
Corona: I'm saving my friend... Please... Watch over him for me... He was like a little brother to me when we grew up...
The orange eyes girl smiled at the heiress, a single tear rolled down her cheek knowing that this was the end. The bright light enveloping her suddenly flashed for a second before it disappeared. Weiss reopened her eyes since the flash was gone and found Corona lying on the ground with her eyes closed, a small smile remained knowing that she had sacrificed herself to save somebody important to her.
The pillar of light still remained next to Weiss but a white figure suddenly appeared next to the light. The figure of white light was in the shape of Corona, holding her friend's staff before both had disappeared.
A hand shot up from the rubble, scaring Weiss until she had realized that it was holding your sword.
Weiss: (Y-Y/N)?...
