"I'm scared."
My lip quivered as I somehow spit out the words that my body was already screaming out. Tears washed down my stained face and I let it flow.
I hiccup. "Please. Just let me out. I swear I don't know anything. I don't know who Bethany is. I swear. Just please. Let me out."
"Shut it, missy." The gravelly voice echoed in the dimly lit room. "This whole act is pretty convincing I'll agree. But I know the truth. The truth that you are Bethany."
I pinch my eyes shut and let the whimpers roam around my shut mouth. I didn't know who this Bethany was and why she somehow got me in trouble. One morning I was all fine and on my way to the store and the next blindfolded and dragged away into a car. All this trouble for Bethany.
"Please." I try again. "My name is Jesse Larsson. I am 23 years old. Born on February 20." My voice comes out cold and calculated.
"And I don't know who Bethany is."
